We visited both the location inside the Markville mall and one of their outside bakeries near highway 7. This place is solid! Te pastries are so fresh and presented in a clean fashion. They are generous in sizing and tastes really good! We also enjoyed their ready-made rice places from the mall, but also the frozen ones we bought to prepare at home. That salted egg yolk is to die for! Don't forget to drizzle the prepared soy sauce...soooo good! We loved this place and can't wait to go back.

Since the move to Markham, I get to explore a lot of Asian bakeries in the area, and one of them is Lucullus Bakers & Roasters. I particularly love this location because of the upscale decor, and the quality buns. Hands down, I love the texture of their buns and they also have the BEST bbq pork bun of all Asian bakeries - none of that sus bright red sauce you normally see that other bakeries lol. Other than quality buns, this location also offers 9.95 breakfast combos! My mom asked me to take her here for breakfast one morning. She devoured the pasta w/ ham in cream chicken soup, pineapple bun w/ butter, and a coffee x milk tea drink all to herself. I obviously had a bbq pork bun muahaha. I'll come back another day to try their breakfast next time :) P.S. It is extra 0.50 for a plastic bag when you buy lots of buns, so remember to bring your own bag!

Tranquil atmosphere to take a refreshing tea break amidst the busy holiday season. Always comforting to sip on their Signature Milk Tea.

Top: Breakfast Combo 1+2+3; Bottom: Breakfast Light

I heard there was a nice combo breakfast meal that is pretty good value here so I came to check it out with my dad. The bakery is in a pretty inconspicuous spot, in a corner of the Markham Cineplex block, I myself missed the entrance at first as it was dark and the main door is covered with curtains. When you walk in, the bakery is quite large inside and you line up to order. They will give you a number and you can find a table to sit at. The combo breakfast meal comes in 2 options with many different variations to choose from. My dad and I each got one option: - Breakfast Light: Scrambled eggs with toast, and my main of choice was sausage. A bit misleading because the image was one breakfast sausage but instead I got a bunch of mini ones... but honestly I liked it better the way mine was served. The eggs were typical HK breakfast food. I was a bit disappointed by the toast, I was expecting milk bread but it was more similar to the white bread you get at the grocery. The coffee on the side was quite watery. Overall, considering the price, I would still come back again. The value is great and very impressed by how many options you can choose from! 7/10 - Breakfast Combo 1+2+3: For this combo, my dad chose a pineapple bun with butter, and ham macaroni in their signature milk chicken broth. The pineapple bun was delicious but the butter was a pretty small slice. The macaroni was really interesting, the soup was a refreshing departure from the regular MSG soup you get at HK cafes. The milk tea on the side was fine as well. 8/10 Overall, I think this is a great place to have a nice breakfast. It can be hard to get a seat during peak hours. But I envision this being a perfect spot to grab something before heading to the movies or doing anything else in the area. I will be back to try some of their bakery items, and seafood chowder!

Came here for a very short period before close. The lady working there and us were the only people in the store. We quickly grabbed some treats (roll cakes) and went to checkout. She told us to grab two more for it to be tax free, so we did that. Really grateful for her honesty! The inside looks cozy and would have been lovely to sit down in.

Beautiful interior to eat your classic buns in! This location of Lucullus is definitely one of the nicer ones. The interior is gives off an old school vibe, and the floor tiles have a beautiful pattern. You can grab your buns on your tray, bring it to the cash and grab a seat to sit, or do a grab and go take out style altogether. They also have hot dim sum dishes that you can order to dine in or take out. When you first walk into the business, you get a big waft of fresh baked bread. There's the usual classic buns like hot dog bun, bbq pork bun, pineapple bun etc. They also have egg tarts, croissants and more specialty buns available as well. Tax free if you get 6 or more items. The classics are always great and doesn't disappoint, especially when it's piping hot and fresh! The classic HK style milk tea was nothing special and would probably pass on this next time. But would come back for more bread! The establishment is busy and had lots of people sitting at their tables enjoying their bread before noon so expect there to be a little bit of a wait! Overall, a classic Chinese bun place that is sure to cure your cravings/ make the perfect snack.

I've been here a few times. It's hidden outside the mall and can only be accessed from the outside of enterprise mall. There is plenty of parking here. They serve Chinese buns from price range $3 and up. You can also get a hot meal that typical HK cafes serve. The pricing here is above average, but the food is pretty fresh. The service is pay at the counter and sit down or take out. The decor is similar to a French style cafe, theme. It doesn't really match what is being sold, but it's very nice to look at.

Chicken with cream sauce (Rice set meal with hot drink)
    Lim T.

For years, this bakery has offered a variety of hot rice sets such as curry chicken, spare ribs and mushroom chicken. I've tried almost all their rice meals and I like them all but my favourite rice dishes are spare ribs in black bean sauce and minced beef. I've been coming here for many years and their rice dishes are always consistently really good. Although the price of a rice set (includes a hot drink) has increased to $8.85 ...it is still an amazing deal!

2.5 stars We've been back a couple of times recently and found that the quality of the pastries does not match the price. The average cost per item is much higher than other similar Chinese bakeries but what you get for it is of lesser value. To name a few issues: the curry bun was just too salty with no flavour, the donut bun that cost more was essentially a plain bun with a sprinkling of sugar on top, and the coffee lacked flavour and tasted watered down. It's unlikely we'll be coming back when there's so many other Chinese bakeries around.

I had mixed thoughts with Lucullus. The bakery was very nice. It was one of the nicest Chinese bakeries that I've ever stepped foot in. It just felt nice being in there. We tried some of their buns and their crab sandwich. The buns were okay. I thought they were kind of firm. I've had better. The crab sandwich was delicious. It was full of crab according to the woman working there. Buying stuff and taking it across the street to the hotel was probably my mistake as the nice interior design probably would've made it taste better. They had too much good stuff that caught my eye there. I will have to return when I go back to Toronto. I'll be generous and give them 4 stars.

    8inch Torched Cheesecake $43
    Amanda L.

We ordered their torched hong kong style cheesecake for my mom's birthday. For 8inches it was $43. I recommend calling ahead as it looked like they don't make a lot of counter cakes for this store in particular (or it was all sold out by the time we went). They also offer your typical hong kong style baos, and some other interesting items like floral teas that provide added health benefits. The interior of this place is super cute and a great place to sit and eat your bao or lunch. The cake was good, but I felt like it wasn't as creamy as I remember it from before. I hardly tasted the torch aspect of the cake and felt the crumbly base was a little too strong tasting for my liking. It kind of overpowered the entire cream cheese part of the cake. Presentation wise the cake looked gorgeous, but I wished the cheese taste was stronger.

    Decor
    Patricia G.

I like this place. It always feels special. I love the deco decor and the fresh made buns! If you can get a pineapple bun fresh out of the oven, its guaranteed to be a special day! Its really 3.5 but 3 felt too little Location: In Downtown markham in the same building as the movie theatre. The entrance is on the outside your in the back by the parking lot Parking: Suburbs so parking is a plenty!! Drive my friends there's little to no parking stress here. Decor: Its beautiful deco. Feels like you are sitting in New York during the deco period. Staff: This is where the lose a star. Horrible customer service. The customer service does not match the feeling they convey with the decor or food. It's counter service but no smile, no hello, no enjoy your food, no thank you for coming. Everyone I talk to agrees.

I absolutely adore this place!! Fresh buns, HK milk tea, and the perfect 老婆餅 (winter melon paste cake) has won my heart!! From eating the many 老婆餅 in different bakeries, I would have to say that Lucullus has THE BEST 老婆餅 IN TOWN!!!! I highly recommend getting one when you're here!!! Pre-COVID-19, I loved coming here to relax and maybe even get some work done with their HK milk tea and fresh bun--you could request for the bun to be heated if you'd like! The 老婆餅 is almost a-must for me and I love sharing it with a friend--too many calories and too indulgent just to have it by myself! Even during COVID-19, I still love coming to get their buns and egg tarts. The buns are individually bagged, which makes me feel safe when I buy. But the egg tarts are still grab on your own... It makes me feel a bit uneasy when I buy the egg tart, but I just bring it home and heat it in my oven, I prefer eating it hot anyways! This place still prefers cash and if you opt to pay by debit, there's a $0.25 surcharge--just beware, the person on cash doesn't usually tell you so you find out when you start paying. I take the one-star off because of the customer service. Some of the ladies working here are a bit rude, especially if you speak to them in English. And, during the morning rush, I noticed that they are kinder to their regular customers. Other than that, I'll be back for more delicious buns, egg tarts, and, of course, 老婆餅!!!

I am never the hop-on-the-bandwagon trendsetter. Good Catch Cafe and Bar has been in downtown Markham for a few years. I decided to come here for an early dinner after work on Wednesday for the first time. This eatery is a part of The Origin, the mall that includes a Cineplex, Goodlife Fitness, Chatime, and more. This eatery has its entrance facing Enterprise Boulevard. When you're parked at the parking lot across from it, it gives you the impression that the entrance is by the patio. Maybe you can enter and exit this side door when it's summertime. I see a lot of references in a number of Yelp reviews here to this eatery being Good Catch Boil. I remember when it was more of a seafood place when it first opened for business. It then meandered into a Hong Kong-style eatery, which is the case today. I'm guessing that the boil trend wasn't as popular over time. I walked in. I looked at a screen to check in. It was probably 4 pm and it wasn't terribly busy. I passed. A female server came over and asked if I was dining as a party of one. I nodded. She pointed me to a booth. I was pleased and sat myself down. It was comfy. It's kind of like a sports bar, but it's casual. I caught up with the Blue Jays loss against the Yankees the night before. By the end of my dining experience, this restaurant had good music playing that made dining here more upbeat. She came over with a bunch of menus. She also had a printed QR code. I could either order online or wave at any staff member to place my order. Nice! There are daily specials. You get a free drink with your order if you drop by between certain afternoon hours. I decided to order through the online menu and got these items: - Iced lemon Ribena - Curry fish balls (15) - Wonton noodle soup Service was wonderful. The female server got me water and my iced lemon Ribena. I love the latter drink so much. It was excellent. It had the perfect amount of lemon with Ribena, all iced. The water was also great. It was cold despite not having any ice cubes in it. My curry fish balls came out first. The curry smelled so good. I loved each curry ball that I stabbed with a skewer and dunked into the curry sauce. Each fish ball was bouncy and yummy. The sauce had a slight spicy kick that I thoroughly enjoyed. I'd get them again. A male server came over with my bowl of wonton noodle soup. I had maybe ten different noodle options to choose from, from ramen, to udon. I choose thin noodles. If you want a noodle pull, you'll easily get it here. The noodles were delicious, long, and so good. They weren't clumpy. Perfect! I was surprised that I got broccoli. I ended up submerging the florets in the broth. They started off on the crunchier side. They softened up nicely and I enjoyed how healthy eating each floret made me feel. I am used to getting bok choy or no veggies with wonton noodle soup. It was nice that I got something different. The wontons were excellent. They had shrimp in them, which I am thinking that the seafood part of this business is still there. I loved the green onions in this bowl of deliciousness. The broth was perfect. It wasn't overly salty. I could taste sesame oil that was aded to it. I paid at the table. The female server asked if I was paying by cash or card. I rarely have the former on me, so it was my credit card. I tipped and tapped, and thanked her for everything. Staff are so nice here. I'd come back just for the service alone. The food and drink were amazing, so I'm definitely a fan who wants to return for more good eats and drinks. I used the washroom before leaving this eatery. When you walk into this restaurant, the washrooms are straight ahead, followed by a right turn. It was cool seeing bowls of noodles being made by kitchen staffers as I passed by to get to the washroom. The women's washroom was spacious and clean. No complaints. I'm so glad that I finally dropped by this eatery. At least three restaurants have closed recently at The Origin. I'm glad that this one is still thriving. I'd love to grab a bite to eat after a movie or simply come here to enjoy good Hong Kong-style dishes. (214)

Happened to be in Markham and my friend recommended trying Cantonese food since there are so many…read moregood options in the area. We came here on a Wednesday night, and the place was pretty crowded. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and they served tea at the table, which I really liked. We were a party of four and shared four dishes. We started with the pineapple bun filled with satay beef, the beef inside was very tender and flavorful. We also ordered the Singapore-style fried vermicelli, which came with BBQ pork, shrimp, and vegetables. Another dish we tried was the fried noodle with bean sprouts and beef in soya sauce, and this ended up being my favorite. The noodles were well seasoned, and adding chili oil really took it to the next level. For dessert, we got the black sesame French toast with golden syrup. I'm a big fan of HK-style French toast, and this one did not disappoint. The syrup wasn't overly sweet, and the black sesame flavor came through nicely. Their menu is huge and has a wide variety of dishes and plenty of Hong Kong comfort food classics to choose from. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable, making it a great spot for sharing dishes with friends or family. I'd definitely come back to try more items on their menu, though it's a bit inconvenient to get to without a car.

Ambiance - 4/5: a medium sized place with lots of seats and tables. It's in a plaza with a medical building. The parking spots are designed to be slanted so if you're not used to it, it is a little weird to park. Service - 4/5: we were seated quickly. The menu was extensive so it took awhile for us to decide. They checked up on us a few times. And cleared the table at the end. Food - 4/5: we ordered 3 combo sets - baked Japanese chicken steak on rice, AAA steak with onion paste in rice bowl - comes with a sunnyside up egg, pad thai, lemon tea and cold milk tea. We shared all 3 dishes. The pad thai was surprisingly spicy but it was good. The other 2 dishes is good as well. I just find both dishes to be on the sweeter end. I really enjoyed the milk tea. It was smooth and perfectly balanced. Overall: 4/5 - I would come back with friends. I don't mind trying other options on their menu
