They have great value deals & impressive quality across all board(Tequila/bourbon/wine/beer). Always buy 6 bottles and the shipping is free. Their service has always been amazing every time. I ordered some fine wines in the heat of the summer and opted to pick them up. Seven+ months later and Ludwig's staff had them ready when my lady happened to be in town. Well, all I can say is that I am a tequila aficionado. I have been studying and researching agave spirits for many years. Needless to say I have visited every liquor store in Marin County, and Ludwig's is by far the best... I hesitate to post this review because it will draw attention to a gem that is hidden away in the town of San Anselmo. One of the great Strengths of this particular establishment, is that it has many very fine spirits that are very difficult to find. They do their research. What an awful experience, maybe the worst retail buying experience I've ever had. The best value you will find on high end bottles and excellent customer service. I have been ordering from Ludwig's for years and never had an issue. Everything is well packaged and arrives as if you grabbed it right off the shelf at your local store. I recently received my shipment of Tears Of Llorona Tequila and, oddly, one of the bottles arrived with a break in the seal, leading to a small leak. I emailed 2 pictures (responding to the generic "your order has shipped" confirmation email I received 2 days prior) and within a few hours was notified that the bottle would be replaced. I then received confirmation, before the end of the same day, that my replacement bottle had shipped. Exactly the type of customer service you hope for, but rarely see! read more

As per previous reviews, the online ordering process is horrible. I ordered a bottle of Hakushu 12 100th anniversary in late June 2023. It wasn't processed for shipment until July 28, 2023. However, the bottle was never picked up by FedEx. I called... 5 times. Each time, I was told that the bottle would be shipped. Can't comment on the in-store experience but I'd avoid ordering from them online. I placed an order and got an email a day later saying the product is not in stock. Checked the site, and the "number available" text for the product actually increased instead of being an out-of-stock item. I placed a different order without the "out-of-stock" bottle the next day and it was cancelled the following day without an explanation. I contacted them and they said it was a mistake on their part and that they can send out a new invoice and the products that same day. Never got a follow-up from them. Based on that experience, I'd wouldn't trust their services regardless of some lower priced bottles. Stick to reputable vendors like Old Town and Rare Tequilas and you won't be disappointed. read more

But on the day I called it appeared as if a shipping label was created, but nothing else has occurred. Checked this place out the other day while walking through San Anselmo. VERY nice corner wine shop...some good selections. Varied, but not very deep (not surprising, given that it's a relatively small town). The smoke section - well, GREAT pricing for California, no doubt. But tiny. VERY tiny. We're talking closet here, folks. That said, for the size of the town, again, good variety, but not very deep. So if you're in San Anselmo, definitely not a bad (given it's the only) choice. This store has an outstanding selection of fine wines and hard to fine liquors. Everything is priced well, no price gouging despite it being a small store. I would argue their prices are as good or better than a Bevmo or grocery store. Plus, buying from Ludwig's is shopping as local as you can get. They have an impressive collection of tequila and mezcal. It's our go-to place for that as well as great local wineries like Pey-Marin, TEXTBOOK, Spicerack & The Forager (the best wines from Marin County in my opinion). There's always great easy parking out front and they have excellent customer service. There's been a few times we went in to just browse but came out with something amazing at their recommendation. They're super friendly about asking questions here and always more than happy to help you find something. This place is the best liquor/wine store in the Bay Area and we're lucky to have it right here in San Anselmo. read more

My bottle was packaged flawlessly ad there wasn't so much as a dent in the box. It's going to make an amazing Christmas gift! Best liquor store in Marin. Always has an amazing selection of beers, wine and liquor. The craft beer here is always rotating and it's a great place to find everything from sours, saisons, IPAs, to pilsner's. You name it, they've got it or something that will fit your tastes. The staff is super nice, remembers you and is knowledgeable. From a wine standpoint, they've got a nice selection beyond just Californian, including French, Spanish and Italian varietals. Also, I find it a great place to pick up everything you need for cocktails from bitters, vermouths, to unique and traditional liquors. I'm not a cigar guy, but they happen to have a huge humidor as well, so I imagine it's stocked with great stuff. Great selection of liquor and wine! I always search the net for the best pricing and Ludwigs has been the best every time I search for a liquor. I bought from them the Patron Grand Burdeos, several bottles, the Patron 7 year old and the 7 year old Fuenteseca tequila. I also ordered the Illegal Mezcal Anejo and Reposado. I love the Anejo Mezcal the best. It was light on the smoke, whereas, the Reposado Mezcal was scotch smoky and for me needed to be mixed with margarita mix. I got two bottles of Georges de Latour. The packages arrived on time and were packed very well each time. I will continue buying from Ludwigs and also recommend them to anyone. Thank you Ludwigs for such great service! read more

Wow, what a great little liquor store. When I walked in I expected the prices to be higher than they should be given as nice as the store's interior is, but was pleasantly surprised. While not a huge space, the selection is obviously carefully chosen so that you end up seeing many items that even BevMo doesn't carry, at or around their price point. They even have a nice selection of mezcals if you're like me and are a fan of the spirit. Nice guy working the counter, small business, great prices and selection. What's not to love? read more

This is my favorite Liquor store in the area based mainly on the large selection of Italian Amaro's they carry. Most places carry 1 or 2 Amaro bottles however Ludwig's carries probably 7-10 different varieties. If you haven't tried Amaro I'd recommend picking up a bottle and having some after dinner as a Digestif! They have a great wine and gin selection as well however I'd love to see a Similar sized selection or rums since their options are slim in that department. The Beer selection is filled with not often found beers but that can make the prices a little higher than most places. read more
