The owner Monty is awesome. One of the hippest guys I've met. Great deals and the deli food is delicious.

I brought this up the the staffer who went and checked the shelf and came back and told me that this was an un-vintaged wine. I was like WTF? I clearly has a vintage and I bought a 2017. He explained to me that they just sell whatever corporate sends them and that he has no control over what shows up. He was able to change it on the website almost immediately though to 2019. I needed the wine for an event the next day so I had no choice but to take the new vintage. I sent an email to both corporate and the store manager thinking that they would make some amends. The manager called me the next day and politely explained that they have no control over what shows up on the website and that they just shelve what is sent to them by corporate. In addition he explained what was meant by "un-vintaged." Evidently what that means is that they don't stock and store several vintages like they do with some wines and that because corporate doesn't always update what they've been shipped this can sometimes occur. OK, so he talked me down and I guess I was convinced that it wasn't the store's fault. But still I feel like they should have made some monetary amends for the mistake they made as a corporate entity. so, I was gong to leave it along. But today almost a week later I get an email from corporate saying: Hi! Thanks so much for reaching out to Customer Care about this. Per the information from your order 355673938, the La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Reserva 2019 is indeed the correct vintage/item purchased on the order. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. What the actual heck? Did they not even see my original email that VERIFIES that my order was a 2017 vintage. Sheesh, whatever so done with the corporate BS. I will not be returning to this store.

Vintage is my go-to place for that next out-of-the ordinary bottle of bourbon and a last minute bottle of wine when in Mill Valley. Almost every time I am in MV I swing by here to see what bourbons they have on the shelf. This is where I discovered Rowen's Creek (or was it Noah's Mill). This is where I picked up that Pappy Van Winkle 15 year at a decent price. The list goes on. The selection isn't the largest, but they always have interesting ones to choose from. Yes, they have Knob Creek and Makers and some of the other standards, but I can get those at Safeway if I want. I go here for Black Maple Hill, Willet Pot Still Reserve, Elijah Craig 18 year, or the aforementioned Pappy Van Winkle. They also have a nice good selection of wine. And the prices aren't too bad.

I can only speak from my own experience, which has been helpful and informative. 10/10 -- I genuinely don't understand why anyone would buy liquor anywhere else…read more I have zero idea why someone would shop for alcohol outside of this store. Truly. It's the cleanest liquor store I've ever stepped into, the staff is consistently lovely, and every single person who works there seems wildly competent -- like you accidentally wandered into a management meeting instead of a retail store. Every time I go in, I leave wondering, "Who is actually the manager here?" because everyone operates with that level of ownership and care. It's rare. Especially in California, where customer service can sometimes feel... optional. Today sealed it for me. There was a woman in front of me who was brand new to wine and planning an event. Instead of rushing her through checkout, one of the staff members walked her through what to serve, how much to buy, what would pair well -- the whole thing. Then he casually mentioned that you can actually request a tasting with their general manager, where they'll open multiple bottles and guide you through them so you feel confident in your picks. Excuse me? Since when does a liquor store offer sommelier-level consulting? Meanwhile, other stores (you know the ones) are charging significantly more for half the service and none of the personality. Here? They'll open a bottle. They'll educate you. They'll never rush you. They're always fully staffed -- like four knowledgeable people on the floor at all times -- and they even offer to load your car. Every. Single. Visit. Who does that anymore? The pricing is equally wild. Buy-one-get-one-for-five-cents promos. Case clear-outs in the center of the store -- today I saw $40 cases of wine that retail for around $20 a bottle. It's almost more affordable than Costco, but without the fluorescent lighting and existential dread. They also price match. They do tastings. Fun activations. Sampling. The selection is massive, but it doesn't feel like a chaotic bulk warehouse. It feels curated. Intentional. Thoughtful. I haven't been to every location, but this one? Impeccable. If I'm buying liquor in California, I'm buying it here. Period. Customer service, pricing, selection -- 10 out of 10 across the board. Would not cheat on this store.
