They then did NOTHING to help rebook us, the business desk agent sent us to the rebooking desk - the agent there (Agnes) refused to rebook us and just kept saying we had to call Lufthansa- but of course she could not be bothered to provide us with a number or assist us. This is my first and last time ever flying Lufthansa! I thought that being a German company the experience would be stellar. Complete opposite! 1. 4 tix at $9000. Paid extra for seat assignment. Seats were changed 4 times to then have us on the 4th change to not sit together. SFO to Frankfurt to Rome. 2. SFO to Frankfurt's reassigned seats were up against a wall, 3 seat reclined one inch, 4th seat did not recline at all, for 11 hours. Remember that I paid extra to not get the seats I wanted. 3. Check in attendants were the rudest I have ever experienced. 4. Take off was delayed. The flight attendants were not friendly at all. My son asked for ice tea and the stewardess literally snapped at him, "No!" 5. Arrived in Rome after 11 hours, connected on to the next flight to then be asked to disembark due to a door issue. 6. Again, RUDE counter attendants the caused mass confusion when trying to update the passengers. Everyone stormed the counter. What they wanted was 70 volunteers to get off the flight with a 250 voucher. Because they caused so much confusion, the counter attendants started yelling and threatening all of us that if we didn't cooperate that they would just cancel the flights altogether. 7. They couldn't get 70 people, they got 50, and then started to pull the rest of the people the next flight. 8. Once that happened, we were able to board. Once seater, the captain came on and said that the counter attendants miscounted and still needed 10 people to get off so they randomly selected another 10 people. 9. I was supposed to arrive in Rome today at two but I am still seated waiting to take off because now they are questioning the load of people and where we are all seating. 10. I am BEYOND DISGUSTED WITH THIS AIRLINE. I will ever ever ever fly Lufthansa again. Very surprised to see all of the negative reviews here on Lufthansa Airlines. We flew to Munich from New York round-trip in Premium Economy. The airplane was very clean. There are many movies to choose from, as well as music, podcasts, games, etc. for entertainment. The flight attendants were excellent in service and answering questions. The food was good compared to other carriers. Both flights departures and arrivals were on time. The captain was courteous and kept the passengers informed. We are looking forward to flying Lufthansa again on our next trip to Germany. **Munich Airport is very large. Make sure you arrive at least 2-3 hours before your international flight. I am so disappointed in Lufthansa. I Booked tickets to fly to Ireland with my husband and my 15 month old daughter... my husband suffered a massive heart attack (the widow maker) on June 25 2025. His cardiologist said he can't fly for atleast a year. I reached out to Lufthansa to get a refund on the tickets to book for a later time they told me to submit proof of hospitalization and discharge and a letter from the cardiologist. I provided all they asked for and then they replied " Regarding your inquiry about the complete refund for passengers' medical reason. We regret to inform you that there is no specific waiver available for the medical reason. Therefore, any additional modifications or cancellations will be carried out in accordance with the Fare Rules." so now we're out $3200 unless I travel alone to Ireland with my 15month old and I'm currently 4.5 months pregnant... I am so disappointed and disgusted in the lack of empathy, compassion and help Lufthansa has provided in helping me. read more

It is the most terrible airline ever!!!! Yesterday 05.05.2024 at 1 p.m in the afternoon my daughter and I were supposed to fly to Istanbul. But I was not allowed to do this, because discover airlines ( the airline of the Lufthansa group) said that I did not have a visa to visit this country with my Kazakh passport. Since our stay was supposed to be 45 days. They said that I could only stay in Turkey for 30 days without a visa with my Kazakh passport and discover airlines didn't let me board my flight When we called the hotline, they told us that these rules are dictated by the Turkish Embassy. Today we called the Turkish embassy and they told us that the visa-free period for citizens of Kazakhstan to stay in Turkey is 90 days!!!!! About their service: I'll add that we waited on the Lufthansa hotline to reschedule our tickets for 2 hours!!!! 2 hours of waiting only to be told that next time we should call earlier I do not advise anyone to fly with these terrible airlines with the most terrible service! NEVER AGAIN! Not flying with Lufthansa! Checkin was denied due to visa requirements issues. Later this information was not confirmed by the Ministry of foreign affairs and Embassy. Meaning, airline has false information about visa requirements. Ruined vacation, complete ignorance over the phone. Extra fees paid to re-book the flight which wasn't even our fault. If they are not appologizing and refunding our tickets going to sue them. read more

I booked international flights for family members online directly with Lufthansa, feeling comfortable because of the 24-hour booking grace period touted on their website. I also did seat selection at time of booking (in Premium Economy) since we will travel with a small child and need to be sure we sit together. When I called a few hours after booking to cancel the reservation, the Lufthansa agent quoted my refund amount as the full amount I'd been charged. However, I learned the next day that the refund would be less than the amount quoted by the agent--the $400+ charge for seat selections would not be refunded. There is nothing in the grace period language to call out that exception or I would not have booked or done seat selections. I will never consider Lufthansa again for personal or business travel. read more

I flew Lufthansa in March 2023. They lost my bags. Finally returned one but one is still lost and its now over 90 says so its gone from their system I emailed them, called every 4-5 days even had a friend go to the airport where the bag is at and no one has still responded to me. I have an Apple Airtag in the bag and i sent them a photo of where the bag is but still there has been no response Worst customer service in the world . worst airline and customer service....avoid at all costs...I flew from Florence to Frankfurt with a two hr layover and I still could not make my connecting flight. The "supervisor" at terminal Z62 would not allow us to go through and instead made us wait on security resulting in a missed flight. this airline then rebooked us on a flight to London to get back to nj. After being promised the bags will come along, we arrived in newark to no luggage. no one is willing to help or give updates. the air tag tells us the bags are in Switzerland yet I did not go there. there is no supervisor or customer service to helap you. you are expected to wait for online updates. never fly through Frankfurt or with this airline. read more

I had the worst experience with Lufthansa customer service. I was told that the business class tickets that I purchased were on "waitlist", which was not true. The a**hole hung up on me. I called back to complain and was hung up on again!!! They have the WORST customer service reps I have ever spoken to!!! This airline is the most horrible airline!! I don't understand how they can be so unreliable, rude, not helpful and unable to reimburse us for all the stress they have caused us when we travelled to Europe. Being across the world with no luggage and none of our necessities along with us, had caused us a great amount of panic and anxiety. when we tried to speak to customer service they were not helpful AT ALL! Wow just reading the horrible reviews below I regret ever booking with this CHEAP tacky company. My flight day hasn't even come and when I tried to call customer service all calls are routed to Phillipines. I needed to upgrade and they said NO. The first luggage to check in international flight is $60 Also has restrictions of 62 inches of MEDIUM luggage not even large regular sized suitcase. I am not allowed to upgrade to business or first class. When I asked to speak to a manager they said NO When I called back the agent said there is no managers available When I called 4th time they said manager is busy and cannot speak. The customer service is horrific and so AI their flexibility. STAY FAR FAR away. read more

It's so hard to review airlines: so many factors. Pros: 1. Service is CORRECT. Very German. 2. First Class or Business is great. 3. Economy is ok unless you charm the FAs, then good. 4. Star Alliance benefits. 5. Safety seems good given German thoroughness. 6. First Class Terminal in FRA rocks: free meals, Porsche rides to the plane, no lines to check in, clear security, etc. Cons: 1. Old business seats suck. 2. Few free upgrades even when you're a SEN now that they have HONs. 3. Prices/Fares are high. 4. Website could use a makeover. Probably my favorite international carrier. Staff is genuinely pleasant and wants to makes sure you have a good flight. For us in particular they went out of their way to be kind and congenial to our 1 year old and gave her toys and treats throughout the flight. We got a business upgrade, so the seats for our flights to and from Frankfurt were amazing. Also, when we were heading home they had a splendid curb side check in that I could only dream about getting on a US carrier. One downside, the food was rather average. Still, I give them 5 stars and will always try to fly them when I go overseas. read more

Compare to most airline lounges in US, LH lounge has one of the best food offerings. Senator section is on the upstairs and business lounge is on the ground level. Plenty of sandwiches, hot dishes, salad and sweets available. Space isn't big so it gets quite crowded when there are a few international flights scheduled next to each other. Overall, it's a good lounge. Free wifi. read more

I'm an avid traveller and have flown most airlines, even in different classes. With Lufthansa, I've flown Economy, Business and even First Class. In general, this is a great airline which provides good service to their passengers regardless of where you are using them and what class you are flying. Their economy class is however very cramped and they have squeezed in as many chairs as possible in their, making the flight not all-that comfortable. Their business class is ok - also a lot of seats, but the business class seats are horrible and the incline is meeeeeh. The first class however, is amazing. If you fly out of Frankfurt, you get to experience true bliss with a dedicated terminal just for you, a-la-carte dining, exclusive spirits list all free of charge and awesome service. I was driven in a new Mercedes S-Class 2014 to my flight. The entire flight in first class was truly spectacular. Extravagant and awesome. All-in-all, an average airline if you are talking all classes. If you're talking premium classes, they are awesome and set the standard for most European and American airlines. read more
