Overcrowded, weak offerings, not to mention sometimes you can't even get in, no less get a seat. I recently gave up the credit card that allowed for "free" Admiral's Club membership, those these seem to be the most ubiquitous. I have Priority Pass and barely use it, especially if I'm with my husband because it costs too much IMO for a companion pass (love how they keep whittling away those perks). But on a recent visit to terminal 4 prior to a transatlantic flight, I knew I needed to see if I could at least get a snack and some water, so when I saw the Capital One Lounge, I went for it. I was greeted by the nicest lady who patiently walked me through entry, even though I stupidly left my boarding pass and credit cards about a half a mile away at my gate with my husband. You don't need Priority Pass to enter, just a Capital One card, I believe any tier. Guests can get a pass at 50 dollars, I believe. I guess it's worth it if your guest drinks a lot and has no dietary restrictions. I was pretty impressed with the amount of seating, work stations and tables and easily found a seat. While the cold bar only had one plant based option (thank you for clearly marking dietary restrictions), the menu that you order from had zero. I had the quickest, tiniest snack (I think it was couscous?) and filled my water bottle and went on my way. The bathrooms are private, clean and there's also showers available. Overall a much more positive experience than a lot of lounges (if I can even get in-- Priority Pass is really not good and I'll be moving to a lower tier Capital One card when it comes time to renew).

If you have time before your flight, don't miss the 1850 Speakeasy tucked inside the lounge. It's a fun addition and serves well-crafted specialty cocktails in a more intimate setting. One of my favorite features was the view overlooking the tarmac. It's a great place to relax while watching the constant flow of aircraft taxiing and taking off. Overall, an excellent lounge experience and one we'd happily visit again.

The breakfast itself was mostly good but there were some odd things! Like for example they had bagels but there were no toasters available. They had a cool coffee bar but the coffee had a very nasty flavor. They did have freshly squeezed orange juice which was great! Today I checked in with a host, got on the waitlist and waited about 45 minutes before getting in. The centurion lounge next door also posted a sign saying it was at capacity and there was an online waitlist. What I don't like about this lounge is I cannot pick a seat. They just escort you and let you know what it's available for you. As other reviews say, I wondered why so many available seats there when a lot of people are waiting outside? It may be the service capacity related, rather than space capacity? The food is consistently good here. The buffet is sufficient but the made to order menu seemed really good too.

It's also worth mentioning that there were gnats flying around some of the hot plates. Still better than airplane food, I suppose. The biggest quality-of-life feature missing from this lounge is a selection of grab-and-go snacks. Aside from sodas, there was virtually nothing I could toss in my bag for the flight. The lounge itself has a nice interior, but it was packed with people and the overall experience fell well short of what you'd expect from a premium lounge.

I have Global Entry so, I passed through immigrations. And JFK is a huge airport. It's a holiday weekend on top of that. The gentleman in front scanned by boarding pass and I was quickly on my way to enjoy the lounge with the 25 minutes I had left before boarding my next flight. I heard great things about this lounge and I wish I could stay for lunch but my flight was boarding at 10:45am, lunch was at 11am. The lounge is huge, spacious, bright and clean. Lots of seats. There's a big bar, different dining areas, a viewing deck where you can eat from or just chill, there's a "market", a bistro, etc. Being short on time, I only grabbed a few quick bites: Croque Monsieur (they toast it for you for 2 minutes), sausages, hashbrown, and a banana. Somebody took my drink order - I got a matcha latte which took over 5 minutes. Around 10:40am, they started putting out desserts for lunch. I grabbed a matcha tiramisu. I couldn't finish my matcha latte because I can't chug a hot beverage but it was delicious though. I still liked the variety of food for breakfast. They have pulled pork sandwiches, benedict, wraps, yogurt parfait, fresh fruits, fresh fruit cups, hardboiled eggs, sausages, hash browns, sandwiches, etc. Service was impeccable. The highlight here are the made to order salads, and the fresh baked brown butter chocolate chip cookies. Wow they were so good with a glass of milk. I took a shower while here, and that too was an excellent experience. You get your own full bathroom, any toiletries you could need are available, and even some you would not expect. The shower was roomy and had multiple shower heads. Of course, open bar, and I recommend the espresso Martini. The only think that was disappointing was the spa service... I mean, the fact there are free spa services at all, means I cannot complain too much. But the facial treatment offered basically amounted to putting on some lip balm and rubbing ice cubes all over my face. Anyhow, great lounge, and an oasis from the airport hell that is JFK.

Depending on the time of day, the lounge can get packed, which kind of defeats the purpose of going into a lounge to get away from the airport chaos. When it's not overly crowded, though, it's a completely different experience. The staff is friendly, the space is comfortable, and it's still where I'd rather spend my time before a Delta flight out of JFK.

Delta has a lot of traffic out of this terminal, thus opened a second (smaller) Sky Club in Concourse A in 2023. This one in Concourse B (capacity of 500 people) is located near Gate B31, and was convenient for a very early morning visit shortly after arriving into NY from LA on a red-eye flight. My wife and I gain entry into Sky Clubs via our AMEX Delta Reserve Card, which provides 15 complementary visits per year. The Sky Club allows entry at the point of arrival, whereas most other lounges is only for point of departure and any layovers. Since we had already used the lounge at LAX the previous night, we knew this additional visit wouldn't count against our cap, so decided to stop in for breakfast. It was very close to our arrival gate (though on the second floor, requiring taking an escalator or elevator), and had already opened at 05:00 by the time we entered (05:20). There were already quite a few people inside, with the breakfast buffet stocked. Found some nice seating with a view of the concourse. I tried some scrambled eggs, herb baked baby potatoes, pork sausage...ended up being a decent breakfast. My wife took advantage of the shower facilities, making an immediately fulfilled reservation since there was no wait. My wife added to her celebrity sightings by meeting Nile Rodgers in line at the breakfast buffet. She said he was a super nice man, willing to talk a bit with her as they progressed, and being appreciative that she was a fan.

There is lots of construction and traffic going on, so views are obstructed. Other then that, it is a little getaway from the terminal. I would love for there to be more casual seating, like couches and such, similar to the AMEX lounges, but the ones there did their jobs. Plenty of outlets. There is also a top and bottom floor which is nice. Did not feel crowded at all, even during the peak. Only con is that there is just one bathroom that I could see on top floor.
