Every single person with whom I interacted is kind, helpful, diligent, and patient. I had the pleasure of meeting Mark himself, Judy, and Dawn. Everyone took so much time with me to answer all of my questions. Judy even helped me understand my diamonds under the microscope, explaining their facets, inclusions, wear, etc. On this occasion (my first with Mark Patterson, but I will be back), I had a pair of diamond studs reset. I called no less than 8 jewelers across Northern and Southern California. Jewelers that in the past my family has used for repairs and jewelers who are the defacto choices for many in their respective communities. I called Mark Patterson on a whim expecting the quote to be prohibitively expensive given how beautiful and varied his portfolio is. Mark Patterson had the most competitive quote for a superior quality of work, hand casting a completely custom design instead of simply ordering a ready-made setting (as others would do). Because I called so many jewelers and got to know their processes, I can confidently say that Mark Patterson offers a better value for your money than most. Another way that Mark beat the competition was that I was quoted two weeks (and I got the earrings back in a little bit under one and a half weeks!) instead of six to twelve weeks. Having his own workshop right in the store means that he is not outsourcing anything, and therefore, his turnaround is quick. In addition, it matters to me that my jewelry is handmade by skilled craftspeople. When shopping, the workshop is right next to the gorgeous displays. You see jewelry being made as you shop. The quality of my earrings is unmatched. I chose a 6 prong, faux bezel setting that is complex. The work is simply beautiful and exceeds my expectations in every way. The earrings are light in my ears and so comfortable; while being secure, classic, and most importantly to me, so special. Picking them up, Mark came out to make sure I loved them (oh my gosh, do I) - and even offered my dog a homemade treat from his wife, Josette. I have already referred my mother to come to Mark Patterson to reset her earrings. And now, she wants my exact setting! I have historically shopped with established global luxury brands for jewelry because it felt easier to take out the guesswork of quality and customer service. This was my first experience designing a custom piece and I am WOWed! I had the best experience, and will be coming back for future pieces. I feel like I have found my 'family jeweler.' It's a family owned and operated business, with Tulays mom usually working the counter. Very sweet and informative lady. I love the rings they had on display, and had to get the adjustable silver thumb ring. The majority of what they have is for women, but there is a small section titled "Men's Collection." There are lots of very affordable items, and then there's the more intricate, more beautiful, so more expensive ones. You won't see these exact designs anywhere else, so if you're looking for something that will really stand out, this is the place to shop.
