Absolutely amazing customer service. We just shopped for my 20 year anniversary ring update and everybody there was so kind and helpful. Family run business. We genuinely felt that they had our best interests in mind. We didn't feel rushed, we didn't feel like we were being over sold on anything. They were patient and kind. They were even kind enough to repair my 20 year old ring which has been missing 2 small diamonds for 19 years as well as fix my shaky main diamond and made my old Ring look brand new....without me even asking for it. If I can give 10 stars I would! Rod was absolutely incredible and so professional! When we walked into MAJ, we didn't know what to expect.. especially given that they were the first (and only) jeweler we had decided to check out for our engagement ring journey. As overwhelming and stressful as ring shopping can be (even more so for my fiancé), Rod made us feel comfortable and at ease during this entire process. He was honest about our design choices and provided knowledgeable recommendations for the diamond (4 c's- clarity, carat, cut, color) and band. After countless back and forth texts (over a month) and multiple visits to MAJ, Rod was so patient and understanding with us, and he never tried to persuade or oversell us with something we weren't 100% happy or in agreement with. I can't stop staring!!!! Love my ring! It's so dreamy and exactly what I wanted! My fiancé purchased the rock separately and Michael Alan set it for us. I noticed Michael Alan Jewelers was on the pricier side when we shopped around (nearly double) but we decided to go with them because they made us feel welcome, really seemed to know what they were doing, and also we figured we would pay a little more since it's "customized" -- the other jewelers were just buying parts similar to what I wanted and throwing it together. My only disappointment was thinking we'd get to see a 3D print of the ring before it went into production, but that wasn't the case. It's a little misleading but the 3D print is not for the customer. My ring actually turned out a little big. I called the shop and they said resizing it down is part of the package and they could do it same day if i called in advance. I'm thrilled! Rod is fantastic to work with! My husband proposed to me with a placeholder ring so I could design my own ring. Working with Rod to design my ring and wedding band was amazing. When my husband and I first visited this shop after getting engaged, Rod gave us a super informative background on ring types and options. We came to this shop after going to a larger shop in Irvine, and the difference in customer service was crazy. Rod really took the time to walk us through all of the steps and answer all of my questions. He helped me source a diamond for the size I was looking for, and then we began the rendering process. We chatted through my ideas (and I showed him my Pinterest board). He created a digital rendering, which I provided feedback on twice, and then the ring was ready to be created. He was very easy to talk to, and understanding and patient on the updates I wanted. He even let me see the cast of the ring before they made it, just because I was so anxious about how it was going to turn out. I think it turned out so beautiful, and I am so grateful that he spent so much time with me to get it to be perfect for me. He also helped my husband with his wedding band, which was convenient and he also loves! Absolutely the best place for an engagement ring. Before buying an engagement ring, we did a lot of research (mostly on pricescope but other places as well). We lived in NYC when we first started looking, so we went to many places in the diamond district there (including internet darling I.D. Jewelry, which I would highly recommend). We then moved to Southern California, and we went to many places in the diamond district in LA, like David Klass and Eli's (both of which I would also recommend). Having been to some of the best known names on both coasts, we were still unsure. My fiance randomly saw some Instagram posts from Michael Alan, and though we had never come across the name during our research, we decided to stop by. Boy are we glad that we did. The first thing that set Michael Alan apart was selection. In our specific parameters, most jewelers only had two or three stones to show us. Even in NYC, where a jeweler can show stones in somebody else's inventory (they have someone run over and physically get the diamond), there was always a feeling of the jeweler trying to narrow the selection. At Michael Alan, they work with a number of sites directly in India (most cutting and polishing of diamonds take place in India). Some sites will not send physical stones without purchase (but instead give detailed videos and images, including ideal scope). But other sites will actually send the physical stones. So we were able to see a good number of stones in person. The second thing that set Michael Alan apart was price. Their pricing was the sharpest we saw in Southern California (by far), and maybe even better than NYC (though I.D. Jewelry's pricing was excellent). Better than internet companies like Blue Nile and James Allen (there is an overlap between the sites used by Michael Alan and those companies, and Michael Alan's prices on the exact same diamonds were about 5% less). So best of both worlds: you can see the physical diamond AND get better than internet pricing. The third thing that set Michael Alan apart was service. We worked with Rod, who was terrific. Listened to what we wanted, had a point of view but was never pushy, and was endlessly patient. At the end of the day, we felt like we could trust Rod, which is the most important attribute of a jeweler. So: if you are in the market for an engagement ring, save yourself months of research and legwork and just go to Michael Alan. I literally see my now wife admire her engagement ring at least once a day. Thank you Rod and the entire crew. read more

I cannot say enough about how excellent the service is at Michael Alan!! My husband purchased my original engagement ring from here which I unfortunately damaged to the point of my diamond coming out after a swing to an arm chair. I sent my ring back to Michael Alan for repair and Rod always gives prompt replies! With the amount of damage there was to my ring, I decided to have the setting completely remade. I asked to have my ring made with platinum instead of my original white gold because I wanted a stronger setting that wouldn't damage as easily after what happened. After doing some research, I thought that platinum would be a stronger metal, but Rod recommended that I stay with white gold because of the nature of my dainty ring setting. He said that platinum is more pliable and would make my ring more prone to being bent and it is more effective for thicker bands. Rod's recommendation speaks volumes about his honesty and that he cares about what is best for the customer. Rather than agreeing to changing the metal and getting more money for something more expensive, he made sure to give his professional opinion with my needs as a customer in mind. You can tell that he really cares about what he does. I was also expecting the ring to take 4-6 weeks to be made, but he made it within 3 weeks! He even put in the extra time and effort over the weekend to make sure that I have my ring in time for thanksgiving, which was so thoughtful and considerate. I just received my ring in the mail today and it is BEAUTIFUL!! I live in NJ, but I choose to go with Michael Alan over any other jewelers near me or in NYC because they also have the fairest prices that I have seen and they do beautiful work. Rod really goes above and beyond. The most AMAZING and TRUSTWORTHY jeweler!!!! I will forever recommend Michael Alan to anyone I know!! read more

Going to the jewelry stores you see on TV you will pay full price and then some...& they have financing options to really get every dime from you. But I've always go to private jewelers as the prices are better and can make any ring you like. But coming here it's not so much the case. It's the best! So I brought an earring that I got from somewhere else which lost one of the diamonds. They fixed and replaced it for free. I initially stopped by just to browse and maybe learn more about what to look for in a diamond and Rod literally showed me everything I needed to know without being pushy.
