Javier handled my purchase, and let me tell you -- this man is a delight. Wonderfully personable, genuinely kind, and basically the human equivalent of good lighting and perfect hair days. I'm been a regular at Luigi's for several years now and there are several things that keeps me loyal: 1. The customer service is excellent. From the receptionists, shampoo, stylist, and owners. They really go out of their way to ensure you feel important and that your expectations are met. 2. The owner makes an effort to speak with you and get to know you. It's a busy salon with lots of clients. This personal touch goes a long way with me. I've experienced other high end salons who only recognized you based on your status and influence and that annoyed the hell out of me. 3. Tasha Gaymon! I've been with Tasha for more than 10 years because she's the best colorist and stylist I've seen. I visited this salon today for the first time since my waxing lady moved here. The salon is absolutely beautiful, clean, and smells amazing. That was the first thing I noticed when I walked it. It didn't smell strange or have that "hair and nail". The spa area was relaxing and quiet and clean as well. The front desk receptionists were also kind and helpful. I came here for a Brazillian so I didn't have and salon services done but I definitely recommend it for waxing. I've been going to Valentina for a little over a year now for Brazillians. How much would you pay for compliments? I'm not talking about compliments from your significant other who already tells you how beautiful you are each day or your coworkers asking if you had your hair cut followed by "it's nice". I'm talking about genuine, random, unsolicited compliments. Is that not why women wear makeup and strive for the most chic little black dress? Even the manliest of men glow when complimented on their shoes. If it were up to us, there would be no limit to what we would do for those sweet nothing compliments. Looking for just that, I decided to splurge myself on a fancy salon. The new years was approaching and well it was time for a new me. Yes I realize how absolutely cliché that sounds. Luigi Parasmo caught my eye when I was browsing In Style magazine at my usual massage place. It was the ONLY salon in the DMV that was listed so despite Yelp reviews (or lack thereof), I called and booked an appointment for a cut and full highlights. The experience, although long, was wonderful. I was at the salon for almost three hours, partially because my hair did not "lift" as light as it needed to for beautiful caramel highlights in the normal time and partially because my stylist was a perfectionist. She would go over my cut from every angle possible to make sure that it looks good from every corner of the room. The result? Just what I was looking for. Oh the compliments flooded in at work, in line at Starbucks, at the grocery store and yes from the ever so dutiful and doting boyfriend. Is it worth the money. . . Hmmmmmaybe if I can use Benjamins as napkins but alas I am not there yet in my climb to riches. I still live in the real world, just a touch above rags. I will say that it is an experience that I believe a woman (or man) should indulge in at least once and then as often as one can afford. I've been trying different recommended salons across DC lately (Grooming Lounge - YUCK!, Ekti Salon & Spa - not bad) but I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I'd seen a review in GQ or Esquire or Vanity Fair - I can't remember - but I was expecting a lot of ambience but no substance. What I found was quite different. From the moment I walked in I felt at ease. They offer you water or coffee and I was taken back to meet with Kay, my stylist. She's one of the first stylists to take the time before the cut to talk about my hair, what I wanted, and what might be best for me. The hair wash was fantastic with a soothing neck massage and Kay seemed to dwell on every hair I owned making sure it was perfect. A men's cut was $55, $10 more than Ekti Salon & Spa and $35 more than a typical Super Cuts. But what you're getting in return is a knowledgable staff and great service. Those are 2 things I'm always willing to pay for and so I feel the cost is perfectly justified. Try 'em - you'll see. read more

I've only been here for cuts and color but I love this place! The customer service is great; everyone is super friendly and they always offer quality beverages (the cappuccino is great!). I recently had rotator cuff surgery. Being divorced, there is no one at home to help with my waist length curly/wavy hair. So I decided to get it cut - it will always grow back, right? The first salon I went to (my usual for my long locks) the stylist acted like I was a wishy washy emotional cut and refused to go as short as I requested. This caused a few more weeks of additional shoulder pain, taking care of hair that was still too long. After smiling big and asking a stranger whose cut I liked, I found Gerald. He. Is. Fabulous. Gerald listened to what I wanted and needed. He helped me pick a style that fit my face. I had two sugary capuccinos (sp?) during my visit and an ipad to play with while I was under the dryer. Most importantly - I have a style that cause ZERO PAIN to maintain!!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Gerald!!! You get what you pay for. Is the price high? Not really. $100 for a superb haircut, excellent customer service, and refreshments & entertainment? Why go anywhere else? I will be back, sans sling, to maintain this look and then grow it out as my shoulder heals. This salon caters to ALL hair types. I will stick with Gerald, but if you ask, there is a stylist for you - I saw men, straight, long hair, my short, wavy'curly hair, african american hair - there is an expert stylist for you. And I heard the consultations - stylists asking, listening, giving advice. I can't recommend this place strong enough. After two years in the DMV, I have found my hair salon and stylist. read more

I've lived in DC for almost 2 years. During that time I think I've gone to about 6 different salons all over, including the blow out places. Have never left happy. Ironically this salon is 10 minutes walking distance from my house and it's EVERYTHING i could've wanted. My first appointment was with Javier. I got a color and a cut. He was meticulous. My cut was perfect and I'm super picky. The color wasn't as dark as I wanted, but it was still great. I don't think I was clear with how dark I wanted it. Next I saw Tasha for a blowout and style. I needed it for an extra special event the next day so she pin curled it and the next morning the curls were gorgeous!! Also one of the best blow outs I've ever had. Since my last visit, Luigi personally followed up with me to address my issues and explain the miscommunication. Speaking to the owner, I can tell that he actually cares about his clients..not just the bottom line. I was very happy to know that I wasn't intentionally up-charged. Overall, my facial with Nadia was just as good as the first time. The salon and spa is certainly on the pricier side but it is worth the extra $.There are cheaper options but one good facial is worth 5 cheap facials. Disclaimer: I am writing this review on behalf of a friend. I have a TON of experience with blowouts from salons across DC and I can happily recommend KAY from Luigi Parasmo. She did a phenomenal job. Ladies, I have the thickest, longest, and curliest amount of hair that most highly experience stylists have ever seen. That is why I am critical with my hair salon experiences. Kay used spent about 3 hours blow-drying my hair (average 3.5hrs). She's not slow, I just have THAT much hair. Here is a list of things she did for me that I really appreciated. 1. THOROUGH wash and conditioning- anyone with thick hair knows this is 2. Used smaller round brushes to get at the hairline. 3. Used larger round brushes to give me glamorous waves. 4. Used a lot of TENSION to straiten my thick, curly hair. The pulling is Not a necessity to maintain the blowout for a decent amount of time. 5. Did NOT rely on hot tools except for when I requested that she go over painful, I actually enjoy the feeling of knowing that my hair is straightening. my hairline with a flat iron a little bit so that it stays nice and flat. Moreover, Kay as well as the front desk staff did not make me feel like I was an inconvenience at their salon. That's happened a lot and I understand that my hair is difficult but I really appreciate the professionalism and care in making sure I didn't have to feel that way by coming to them. I've already been twice to see Kay and I'm still overjoyed with her work. read more

I love my italian hairstylist, Luigi! I have been going to Luigi for over 5 years and he is worth every penny! He has been cutting hair since he was 14 and you can tell - he is amazing and understands the science behind hair! I have long think hair and it took me years to find a stylist who could cut hair evenly and at the right angles so it lays correctly. My hair color never grows out in a line either (which I dont know how he does it) and is always shiny and beautiful when I walk out the door! Things I love the most: - great location in georgetown - right on wisconsin ave! - parking has never been a problem - I always park in the neighborhoods on 33rd or 34th street - always greeted with friendly faces at the front door - always offered a beverage - ipads to play with while you wait for your color to set - my appointment always starts on time! - with cut, color and blow dry I am done within 1.5 hrs! (major plus since I used to go to the big salons in tysons when it took 4 hours to get in and out) - luigi colors, cuts and blow drys my hair - he does not have a million assistants that do his work for him. - he knows exactly how i like it cut and colored..so I never have to worry about a bad hair cut! - brand new salon that is clean and simple with a new york city feel to it! It was a complicated job for to rid her very delicate sun-bleached and chlorine green hair with a combination of low lights and highlights that returned her natural light blond color. Luigi Parasmo Salon is definitely the best salon in the Washington, DC region. I have been to this salon many times, and every time I come my experience is the same: fabulous. I had the best experience with Kay. I have been floating from stylist to stylist in DC, waiting for someone to give me the same elegant, classic bob I had been getting in New York. For two years, I had "meh" and "ick" experiences, even at some of DC's most hoity-toity salons. Kay got my style immediately and gave me one of the best cuts I have ever had. Made an appointment to see get a cut, wash & style with Ky and I have to say it is one of the best experiences I've had with at a hair salon. Here are the Pros: - My stylist, Ky Walker! She's amazing. She is friendly but still very professional. She listened to me during our consultation and (icing on the cake) she went above and beyond what I asked for! She cut layers that actually framed my face perfectly! (You won't get a one-size-fits-all hairstyle here!) - The rest of the staff is warm and friendly - they care about their clientele. Also, you get the sense that they all really like working together. - Salon is extremely organized and efficient - you will not wait long to see your stylist & though the design of the salon is esthetically pleasing it still supports a streamlined process to support all services offered. For years and years, (at least 15!) he would send me a Christmas card to my house in Oklahoma. Such a genuine person. Now I'm 25, living in DC, and try to go to Javier as much as possible. I walked in with no appointment praying for a miracle. I had had it with my bob that was frizzy and crooked from a cheap, bad last haircut. I was passing each store window hating my haircut more by the second. I saw this salon with the door open and walked in looking a mess. I said 'I need help. Love, love, love Luigi. I've been going to him for a few years now and it really is worth it to me. I first went to him after a botched color-job and he did wonders for my hair. Since then, I get regular compliments on both cut and color. The salon itself is new and it beautifully done. Very clean and professional. Luigi and his staff are also very professional. I got tired of the gossipy salons, where there was lots of talk of scandals or issues, or just straight out unprofessional behavior. Here, I feel like this is a little escape - it's quiet, professional and I am just super relaxed in there. I haven't tried the nails or brow plucking yet, but I would be surprised if they weren't top quality as well. I also have to say that my hair has never been so healthy. Luigi has been guiding me on products to use and how to best deal with my hair, and it has been great. Only downside is the need to schedule far, far in advance to see Luigi (we're talking 6 months out). But at least I always know when i'm getting my cut/color. read more

Zara Korutz is one of my favorite stylists. I actually haven't had my hair done by Zara but trust her with my models on my fashion shoots.
