Good food in a relatively small family owned place. No reservations so get there early to avoid a wait. This is Greek Italian food, all very tasty. A less costly and really good spot. Ambiance was nice. Reminded my wife and I of the old Italian restaurants in NY City and Chicago. Service was very good. The food was not. We ordered a Greek salad and a large combination pizza. What a quaint little restaurant...old timey music plays overhead that sounds like the crooners from the 40s & the Andrew Sisters Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. You can sense this little place is a staple of the Broad Street community. Pleasant atmosphere & Amanda took great care of her guest. The food is freshly made. I recommend the Minestone Soup & Chicken Parm but be advised that its not a spicy Italian or overly garlic. It's mild in flavor yet very filling. They also have traditional Greek dishes too. Expected more from an Augusta "icon".The restaurant has been around for a long time (read : old), its no excuse for the musty smell that assaults you upon entering. We were seated quickly, and rushed through ordering. Being a generic "American Italian" restaurant I was not surprised by the menu and wine offerings. A glass of house cabernet, veal parmesan and baked spaghetti was ordered. Vino... I have plenty of professional food AND wine experience and know what to expect when ordering house wines. I was not expecting watered down grape juice - not sure if there was even alcohol in it. Faced with either drinking Augusta tap water or "wine", I opted for the latter. Onto the food... My date is easily pleased, especially with iconic italian staples like baked spaghetti that are foolproof (or so we thought). Luke warm, tasted like canned red sauce. She ate some of the bread instead (BTW, I'd recommend serving bread with some extra virgin olive oil and some cracked pepper...not butter. You are an Italian restaurant) My veal parmesan was buried under too much of the same canned red sauce with meat and a massive slab of melted cheese. Something was off the first two bites. I decided to dig my veal out for closer inspection. The breading was soggy, as if the veal had been cheesed and sauced then reheated in a microwave, rather the pan fried and finished with cheese and sauce. The soggy breading slid right off, exposing not a pink or even gray-ish hued piece of veal...brown, it looked like beef. Hmmmm. I decided to taste it plain. The meat wasn't overpoweringly off, but it had started to turn. Needless to say, I didn't finish that bite or the rest of my meal. We quickly asked for the check and went elsewhere, to actually eat dinner. read more

One word: unbelievable. This has to be some of the best Greek/Italian food I've ever had. The roasted Greek chicken was full of flavor, moist, and a great portion size. My boyfriend and I went here a few nights ago for our anniversary and we were kind of confused, because we thought it was an Italian restaurant, but over half of the menu was Greek food. I think it's concept is a little confused. The staff was very friendly and welcomed/seated us immediately after we got in the door. The place is in a VERY awkward location next to a strip club, but I enjoy the history of a nice hometown restaurant. Usually Italian places serve bread, which they did but they brought it with the meal, however they did bring us crackers and butter....maybe it's a Greek thing, I don't know? Needless to say the pizza he got tasted horrible, it tasted kind of like baked cardboard and was cheese less. My Alfredo was watery but it was pretty good. This is definitely not the best place to eat. We had a party of 5 and they wouldn't sit us at a decent size table and made all of us sit around a SMALL circular table, when we asked for a larger table the owner told us no that we had to hold the table till a party of 6 came in like... ok. My friends from work and I have a Tuesday night dinner club and this was a chosen place about 2-3 months ago. This place opens at 5 pm. We were early. There were 5 of us. When the place opened, we sat at a 6 seat table. We were told that we could not sit there and were directed to sit at a 4 seat round table. The waitress was not very friendly and seemed to ignore us. Beer selection was minimal and the only "good" beer on the menu was not stocked. So we had to settle for a domestic beer. The lasagna that most of us ordered was more like a soup with noodles. Marinara sauce was good despite the odd presentation of this lasagna plate. Never witnessed anything like it. We had to keep asking for more bread. Meanwhile, thru our entire meal, did anyone sit at the 6 seat table! Spend your hard earned money at a place that appreciates your business, not here! read more

The atmosphere is great... but that's about it. The food took forever to come out and people that ordered after us got their food quicker that we did, and we did not have a big party, just three of us. The pizza had barely any cheese on it and was rock hard. The chicken Parmesan wasn't the worst but it tasted like a cheap frozen TV dinner. The Italian side salad was the most horrible thing ever, there was so much chopped up raw garlic on it that it was bitter and spicy, the vinaigrette was so bad. Absolutely awful. First time trying the restaurant. Went for the Greek food. Ordered a bunch of different items for pick up. When we got there, it was standing room only since they're adhering to the 50% capacity rule. All employees were wearing masks. My first impression of the restaurant was that it's a truly gorgeous, hidden restaurant that was established in 1949 I believe. The inside is cozy, welcoming and I was surprised that it was set up and decorated to make you feel like you were in either of the old countries, and dining with family. We ordered Spanakopita as an appetizer since the Dolmathes were not available. I also ordered the Avgolemeno soup. Our main dishes included the Greek chicken, the Greek pizza, lasagna and Chicken Parmigiana. Overall, it was good. The pizza was devoured by my son and my daughter in law enjoyed her Italian dishes. One of worst meals I have ever had in my life Went 45 minutes in middle of meal with no food or interaction from waitress or management When food finally showed up it was cold and not very good When I approached the owner about my poor experience he started to yell at me about wanting a free meal I explained I had paid in full and simply wanted to let him know my experience ... owner was a total jackass. This place is an institution. It's family run and in my mind has been there forever and will be there forever. It's very cozy and decorated in a very classic Greek/Italian style. The booths are dark and cozy and have coin operated jukeboxes. Some people swear by the pizza but I either have the lasagna or Greek chicken. Yes, if you're over 40 you're going to need your tums but it's worth every bit of heartburn. The food is indulgent and delicious. Everyone from Elvis to Master's champs have dined here. Every time I step into this place I feel like I've been transported back a few decades and I feel like I'm going to see the Godfather sitting in the back. I love the old world style of this place. I always get the toasted ravioli because it's delicious. Their sauce is amazing and I imagine it's pretty authentic. We got the stuffed grape leaves as an appetizer and they were delicious. We were part of a larger dinner party and were informed by our friends that until we arrived they couldn't sit down. Our table was reserved and sitting, ready. The front of the restaurant became crowded with our party (and a couple other customers) waiting to be seated. We stared at diners, and a few stared back at us. We finally sat down when we were two shy of the full party. The hostess was a little perturbed by us sitting down prior to the full party being present. She kept going over the count ("so there are 10 here, right") and huffed "whatever" and quickly placed menus in front of us. The strange policy and curt attitude didn't set a good tone for the meal. Even if the last couple hadn't shown it's not like we would have just left. The meal: I had a pizza that smelled good but didn't have fully cooked dough, sauce that tasted too similar to ketchup, and could barely keep the cheese from sliding off when I picked it up. My wife's spaghetti sauce was salty and we ended up leaving the take-home box with a homeless man. The restaurant is probably trying to protect their bottom line with this policy, but it seems short-sighted, especially when the tables were already arranged for us and not immediately available to be given to a dining couple in place of our "no-shows". They didn't tack on the gratuity despite the size of our party, which was surprising is a good way. Walked in around 6:00 on a Friday before catching a show downtown at the Imperial Theatre and had the full Little Italy New York experience right in downtown Augusta. The wait staff was super attentive, polite, and quick and it's so sweet that a lot of them are related and can help you pick which of their family recipes you want to try for dinner. After our order was taken we quickly got our warm bread and Greek salads(the homemade dressing is so good!). My kids enjoyed picking out songs on the antique diner tabletop jukebox. In 20 minutes our dinner arrived. We were told that some of the meals take longer to prepare when ordered but still got our meals within 20 minutes. My kids shared a pizza, my husband ordered the Greek chicken, and I ordered the chicken Parmesan. Everything was so good we ended up sharing! The ingredients were so fresh and the pizza was the perfect crust (not too thin and not too soft). The chicken Parmesan was perfectly breaded and the tomato sauce was so good too! The proportion sizes were plenty and we can't wait to have leftovers! Looking forward to going back to have dinner and catch a show for family night! Make sure to call ahead if you have a party of six or more. The restaurant gets busy quick after 6:30. It was fun to see how many people came with their families and for date night too. read more

Myself, my husband, and many of our friends have been going to Luigi's since I was in college in the '80's. We have always had exceptional service, fantastic food, and a wonderful 'old time' ambiance. Yes...Luigi's is small, and if you come on a Friday or Saturday night, you will have to wait. You have to wait for ANYTHING that is great, and Luigi's is great. Once, and only once, did I have a problem with a meal (about 18 years ago). I ordered something new, didn't like it. They took it back immediately, and let me order something else...no problem. The owners are super sweet, so in my opinion, if you have a problem there, it's because you were rude and not willing to be accommodating. There can always be a problem, anywhere. It's how you deal with it and the servers/owners that will ultimately define the evening for you. Also...yes...there are what some would call 'unsavory' businesses in that part of town, but Luigi's was there WAY before they were, and there are lots of 'unsavory' things on Broad Street, but that doesn't stop our family from enjoying the many delicious restaurants and pretty shops...there are 'unsavory' people/places everywhere...ever been to downtown Atlanta?!? I sincerely hope that more people will come check out this fantastic restaurant for delicious Greek and Italian food...a piece of August history (since 1949), visited by many famous people and locals alike. I could not believe they put this slop in front of us and called it food much less Italian food. The salad was old and soggy, the bread was on sale at Kroger and was just white bread. We got spaghetti an d chk parmigiana, the chicken was actually tender but had no flavor , the sauce was out of a plastic jug and cut with ketchup. Please add garlic , oregano and Basil to the food and you might have a shot!! Just horrible. read more

Luigi's is one of our favorite local restaurants, and has been in its location in Augusta for several generations. We truly enjoy eating there - the staff is always very friendly and the food is very good. I have eaten almost everything on the menu, but my favorites are the Greek chicken and the Luigi's House Special pizza. The garlic bread is fantastic and the desserts are dangerous :) The house Chianti is our wine of choice when we dine in. We enjoy the atmosphere and listening to the juke box when dining in, but also sometimes call for pizza for pick up and it is always ready when promised. I highly recommend Luigi's! read more
