Absolutely Fabulous Italian Food! OMG!!! The food at Luigi's Italian Restaurant was simply fabulous and soooo delicious! My husband and I were visiting Omaha, Nebraska, and a friend who eaten here many times recommended Luigi's to us. It was our last day in Omaha, and what a wonderful way to end our trip! The restaurant itself isn't anything fancy, but it was peaceful and quaint inside, which made for a nice dining experience. Our waitress, Ava, was absolutely adorable! She was sweet, attentive, and came by our table to make sure everything was going well. I had the Capellini Pizzaiola, and my husband had the Veal Marsala. Both were excellent! My meal was so delicious that I had to get a go-box and took the leftovers home. I enjoyed them just as much the next day! Overall, we had a GREAT experience. This is honestly one of the BEST Italian restaurants I have ever eaten at-and I'm Italian and have eaten at MANY Italian restaurants! To anyone reading this: GO TO LUIGI'S! Their Italian food is tasty but nothing to write home about- really is no great Italian restaurant in Bellevue or Omaha. Luigis is top shelf though for the area. A bit pricey, but what isn't nowadays. Definitely worth at least trying once. Cozy atmosphere. Wish it was less expensive is all ...think I will open my own Italian restaurant. I always just love Luigi's. It's a no frills, but delicious and cost effective italian place, and I love that. Everything I've ever had from here had always been so delicious. Luigi's was great, had been too long since we had been there and were super happy our friends invited us out. They do not take reservations but we just beat the rush Friday at 5:30 pm and got seated right away. Parking lot is small but ample free street parking close by. My wife started with cosmo classico martini which she really enjoyed it was tasty when I tried it. They bring bread for the table which was soft and warm. I had the Napolitano and added shrimp. They definitely didn't skimp on the shrimp or the portions in general are big! The mixed sauce was great and the Italian sausage was the star that brought everything together as well. We got our toddler the fettuccine Alfredo which we all enjoyed as well. My wife got the capellini I believe which was also very good. Our friends got a shrimp fettuccine Alfredo and the other got the pesto. Both enjoyed. They also brought more bread on request to soak up the extra sauce and it was the perfect end to the meal. So we thought, I got a small cannoli and our friends got the tiramisu both were big hits. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The vibes are good with interesting decor. We heard a lot of good things about Luigi's but we live about as far away as possible while still living in the metro. We found ourselves south of Bellevue so we decided to give it a try! It was a Saturday night and the place was crowded. So, we had to wait and have friendly conversations with others waiting too. The staff was busy trying to turn tables over as much as they can without trying to hurry the dining customers. Alas, we were seated. They have a pretty expansive menu. I have to order the "pasta sampler" when I see it on an Italian menu. That was the case this time. The sampler is a combination of lasagna, manicotti, and cheese ravioli served with marinara and topped with shredded cheese. When it arrived, it was hard to decipher one from another because it was all buried under yummy tomato marinara and cheese. It was pretty good, not the best I have ever had, but pretty good. Next time, I will stick with the marinara sauce but try another dish. We also ordered a side salad which was about as average as you can get. The iceberg lettuce was fresh, so no issue there. The house Italian dressing did not seem like anything special to either one of us. My dining partner ordered Spaghetti Works which has sauteed meatballs, meat sauce, Italian sausage, mushrooms, and marinara sauce served with capellini pasta. It's always fun to try sausage at various restaurants. They do a good job here. The rest of the dish was delish! The menu describes Luigi's as proud to be family owned. The family came from Italy and provides old world family recipes. Everything is made from scratch. While we were pleased with Luigi's, it's not a restaurant that would motivate us to drive across the city to visit. The people who live in the area are fortunate to have Luigi's. Great food, great prices, great service! Did I mention the great food? The dinner rolls were delicious. Caesar salad is huge and it was enough for 3 people. That was some of the best Caesar salad dressing I have ever tasted. I had the fettuccine carbonara, but we also had the seafood damianca (sp) meatballs, and fried calamari. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for like 20 years. I finally went and was sadly displeased. I had a shrimp pasta with vodka sauce. I quite liked the sauce but the shrimp had their tails. So I had to peel shrimp with a piping hot pasta sauce on it. Horrible. Moreover, my wife liked her meal well enough, but the next morning was absolutely hurling chunks. Can't be certain it was Luigi's I guess but she's never sick, and no viruses or anything we're going around. None of the food we recently shared made anybody else sick. I found myself in the neighborhood of Old Town Bellevue, which is rare, and had semi-spur-of-the-moment delightful Sunday lunch at Luigi's. Linguine and clams, very lemony but that's OK with me, delicious. Other than rolls (which were very good) it was ala carte, so I didn't sample anything else. Service was excellent. This is hands down the best Italian food I have had in the four years I have lived in this state. I would drive over an hour to San Francisco when I live in California for the most authentic Italian food I could find, and I have been so disappointed until I found this place- it literally tastes like home. I simply cannot understand the glowing reviews this restaurant receives. The only star I'm awarding it is thanks to the waitress, who was very kind. Upon entering, you are greeted by a strong smell of restroom--I couldn't tell if it was a cleaning product or just a poorly cleaned toilet. Adding to this were the Christmas decorations (in the middle of July!), the worn-out, tacky décor, and plastic-covered tablecloths, all of which made a terrible impression. The *Godfather* soundtrack was blasting at full volume, trying desperately to convince you that this was an Italian restaurant. My husband ordered *capellini alla pizzaiola*, and I had the cheese ravioli. The presentation was pitiful. My dish consisted of a runny white sauce--more like soup--with ravioli swimming in it; the dish was bland, unseasoned (it even lacked salt), and completely devoid of flavor or character. The ravioli could easily have been frozen, and the sauce straight out of a can. My husband's dish was a shapeless mass; you couldn't distinguish one ingredient from another. It looked unappetizing, though it tasted better to him than mine did; he added salt and hot sauce he'd brought with him, yet he still said he'd only give it two stars. Finally, I asked if the *cannoli* were homemade, and the waitress replied, "Sort of." When I asked for details, she explained that they received the shells and the cream separately and simply assembled them for the customer. Naturally, I didn't order them. Luigi's is my to go for Italian food now, it's out of my way but it is so worth it! Can't go wrong with the tour if you want to try a bit of everything. 6 years later I came with a different crowd. the margarita had a nice shot of amaretto but just like everywhere else, they cut back on the alcohol. Dad had the shrimp scampi- about 7 decent size shrimp, and he ate pretty much all of it. I had the sampler- lasagna in the middle with 1 ravioli on one side and half of a manicotti on the other. With a salad and complimentary rolls , we did have enough leftovers for tomorrow. My brother had spaghetti works and got one small meatball but plenty of Italian sausage. Upon walking in, I was a bit surprised to see no one else in the restaurant as this place has such a good reputation. I got the capellini pizzaiola for takeout. It was solid but not quite worthy of 5 stars. I do think some of their offerings may have more promise. The sausage that it came with was very good, and to be honest the bread was maybe the best part lol. Visited this place late afternoon on a Friday and there was a crowd waiting to get seated. That's normally a good sign when folks are willing to wait 20-30 mins to get a table. A lot of the local crowd really like this place. Situated in Olde Towne Bellevue, They have a very typical Italian menu. Just don't order the cioppino dish and expect a traditional seafood stew, because its NOT. It's more like an alfredo sauce mixed with some marinara. I am still in love with Luigi's! Their chicken piccata still has me singing like a happy fat Italian Gigi! I am not normally a red sauce gal except for lasagna or eggplant parm, but I had been smelling it all day! So I went I. For my Piccata and was going to dip garlic bread in their sauce, which so so good! THEY WERE OUT OF GARLIC BREAD! What? You are in a town with Rotellas! How can you be out? Send someone up to the outlet and grab it! Lol. Anyhoo, I digress! I ordered the mozzarella slab I. Sauce from the appetizer menu. Oh. dear. lord! Thank you for taste buds, Jesus!! This LOVELY Italian restaurant is a hidden gem in Old Town Bellevue. I have been here twice and each time I have ordered the Pasta Sampler because it's so very good! The Pasta Sampler has lasagna, cheese ravioli and manicotti covered with a marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese and then baked. The sauce is very rich and flavorful. It was a little salty but I didn't mind because the sauce has a sweet taste to it. I LOVE their sauce. I can't wait to try the spaghetti and meatballs! They also have fresh baked rolls, served with real butter and they are delicious! I got a simple salad and it was very fresh with crispy lettuce, onions, pepperoncini, & tomatoes. For dessert I have a limoncello cake. Oh, wow...it was superb! This place is AMAZING and wonderfully authentic! I have been here a couple of times and each time it's just average. Nothing terrible special about the food or drinks. We had the chicken Alfredo, meat ravioli and the chicken and shrimp special. I'd say there was way too much pasta in the chicken and shrimp but you did get a lot of protein. The bread was good and warm.
