Our Favorite Spot in Omaha Civo Vino has become our absolute favorite restaurant in Omaha, and a big part of that is thanks to Lex, our bartender/server. She is truly the best! She remembers our drinks and our order every single time, and her fantastic conversation and perfectly crafted drinks make every visit feel special. She never misses a detail, and her hospitality sets the tone for an incredible dining experience. The hosts are always so welcoming the moment we walk in, making us feel right at home. From start to finish, the service here is consistently outstanding. If you're looking for amazing food, exceptional service, and a place that feels like a true neighborhood gem, Civo Vino is it. Highly recommend!

This was our second time having dinner here. The first time we sat out on the beautiful patio and it was absolutely delightful. This time we sat at the bar as we didn't make a reservation and it was packed. But again, another wonderful experience. Great appetizer options. I highly recommend the spicy meatballs or the cheese platter. They are very generous with their focaccia bread, which is delicious.

Wonderful spot for al fresco dining in downtown Omaha. We enjoyed both the tenderloin (filet au poivre) and pasta dishes. Salads were fresh with generous portions. They make a great Negroni as well. Cheers!

Went with a group of 20 friends and everyone was impressed. Service was on point, friendly, and everything came out correct. Food and apps were great and the drinks were well made. Mamas meatballs and charcuterie board were amazing. I had meat/ragu pasta that was a good size and tasty. Too bad you had to pay for the bread....

My boyfriend surprised me with reservations to Cibo Vino in the Old Market for Valentine's Day, and I was delighted and greatly enjoyed our experience here! The ambiance is upscale and very classy. The dim lighting, wine bottle lined wall, and candles on every table truly made the experience romantic and the perfect backdrop to our evening. Our server was incredibly kind and prompt, giving us recommendations and insights to the menu. I had the Beef Tip Penne, which was delicious and the serving was generous. We also got Calamari as an appetizer, and it was very good. I hope to return here for another date night!

Great food, great service. Overall a wonderful experience. Lobster Ravioli was great, beets & goat cheese app tasty, and Rosemary Focaccia was fantastic!

My husband and I visited Cibo Vino for Valentine's Day this year. Many other couples had the same idea, obviously, but the crowded schedule of reservations didn't hurt the service. We were seated promptly at the time of our reservation, and started to peruse the menu. The prices were not out of this world expensive, but a tad on the higher side. The ambiance was pretty upscale, with lots of blacks and whites, as well as dark wood tables and black and white patterned booths. There is also a large wall at the back that is a white lighted wall with rows of wine. That was kind of out of place, in my opinion, but others may enjoy it. Our server was excellent, especially with how busy they were. She gave us recommendations, and didn't try to rush us out the door like we have experienced on Valentine's Day at other establishments. After we got our drinks and looked at the menus, my husband went to the restroom really quick, where something very odd happened. There was a large man just standing in the restroom against the wall, glaring at anyone who came in. It really freaked out my husband. I wasn't sure if it was a staff member patrolling the bathrooms or just a random person doing that?! So weird. Anyway, now to the important part of the night - the food! Cibo Vino is Italian, so that is the fare on offer here. We started with the Buratta Caprese and the Hail Caesar Salad. The Burrata was awesome and had a nice tangy balsamic and huge dollop of the cheese. The Hail Caesar Salad was a little dry and could use a tiny bit more dressing. I am a gnocchi fiend, so we also ordered the Starter Pasta, Gnocchi Alla Pesto. I am not usually a pesto fan, but this was a creamy sauce of pesto, which was delicious (some places use pesto almost straight up and it's too much for me!). I definitely enjoyed this pasta dish and recommend it. Smaller, but if you ordered it for only yourself, it could almost be an entree. And speaking of entrees, we ordered our dishes right after finishing with our starters. We were getting pretty full already, but it was Valentine's Day and we weren't leaving without some fancy entrees! I ordered the Beef Tip Penne, and it was a huge portion. Lots of protein, very saucy, and overall hearty without being too filling. My husband got the Fennel Citrus Salmon, and he had a few issues with his dish. First of all it was SWIMMING in sauce, like it was supposed to be a soup? Weird. And then when he did cut into the salmon filet, it was almost raw inside! Our waitress was super apologetic, but then said that the kitchen staff did not agree that it was an issue. Ummm raw fish? No thank you! So our waitress took the item off our bill since we basically couldn't eat it safely. And then she also gave us a free dessert to brighten the mood. We picked the tiramisu (my favorite), and as with all the other items we ordered, it was massive. Nice and chilled, with a sliced cherry on top, which I had never seen on a tiramisu before. We could barely finish it between us, but we put a dent in it for sure. Even with being so full, we made room for tiramisu! So overall, I would say there were definitely some hiccups in our experience, but aside from those things, our experience was nice at Cibo Vino and I would recommend trying it out if you're in the Old Market area and want something a little higher end.

Espresso martini- meh... too creamy

I really wanted to love Cibo Vino while visiting Omaha. We ventured for a bday dinner for a friend and made reservations. I would recommend making reservations in Old town for any restaurants for dinner. It tends to fill up. This space looked nice as walking in but then we looked up at the ceiling. It was kinda gross with the spray stuff on all the pipes. Drinks: 3 of us got the Espresso martinis and they were very creamy vs espresso. I wouldn't get here again. There was a lemon basil martini that was better and reminded me of limoncello. Appetizer: Caprese Burrata with a side of focaccia. Their focaccia was awesome and perfect with the burrata. The tomatoes with it were very fresh. It was a small portion for a group of 5. Maybe get 1 for every 3 people? Pastas: - Lobster ravioli - This was a special for the night and it should be on the menu! The sweetness of the lobster was lovely and I enjoyed it. The pomodoro sauce was a little zesty but enjoyable. - Linguine Alla Vongole- the clam flavor shined and it was served with more focaccia... dip it in the sauce! Such a great bite!! The pasta wasn't super "fresh" but it said it was homemade. - Lemon Chicken Piccata- it wasn't really a classic chicken piccata and had more than capers. My friends who got this thought the tomatoes and kalmata olives took over the flavor of the capers. Not their fav. Dessert- tiramisu not that appealing looking but had a good flavor of coffee. The cannolis were too sweet with the honey and strawberry syrup that looked like grenadine. Overall, I feel this place looked better on pics overall. Some things were good but overpriced. We splurged tonight but I don't think I would come back.

Northern Bean Hummus

While in an excellent location of the renowned Old Market, I felt the menu was lacking for vegetarian diners. For one, there isn't a single vegetarian entree available (which is surprising given how easy it is to create copious non-meat pasta dishes). So, at the waitress' suggestion, my workaround was to order one Starter Pasta (which is a shareable appetizer) and make it "entree sized." On a more positive note, the Northern Bean Hummus was an excellent new dish for me. Overall, the food was decent, but a bit too pricey for what we received. I'd prefer to try other Italian joints before coming back to Cibo Vino.

My husband made reservations for dinner on a Saturday evening for a little date night before we went to go see a movie. We got there a few minutes past our reservation time (and we called to let them know), but they were kind and able to seat us right away. The restaurant didn't look super packed, which seemed odd for a Saturday evening in the Old Market. Our waitress was super nice and helped answer some of our questions on the menu and let us know of the specials. I got the Fall 75 cocktail and it was very tasty! Refreshing and not very sweet, which was a plus. The menu unfortunately doesn't have any vegetarian entrees or main courses. We asked about the starter pastas and our waitress described them as small plates, about 5-7 bites each, but can be made into a full entree portion. We ultimately decided to go with an order of the hummus, a bowl of the gazpacho (one of their specials for the evening), an order of the brown butter fettuccine alfredo, and an order of the mushroom and cheese ravioli, both of the pastas being entree-sized. This was entirely too much food for two people, but it was all very good! The hummus was creamy and the focaccia it was served with was yummy on its own, dipped in the hummus, and dipped in the gazpacho! The soup had a nice acidity that would be absolutely sublime in the summer. The goat cheese on the soup was an excellent choice, which gave it a nice creamy richness to cut through the acidity a little. The brown butter fettuccine alfredo was so good - it tasted more like a "real" alfredo, in that it was light on the super rich sauce you associate with alfredo. And you can definitely taste the brown butter! The pasta was also house made and you could taste the quality for sure! I had a few tastes of my husband's ravioli and it was also a good choice! The entree sized pastas rang in at double the price listed on the menu, which was on par with the other entrees listed on the menu, except the other entrees all had a source of protein and ours were basically just pasta. This seemed a bit overpriced to me. I really wish they had any vegetarian entrees options - even just one or two "token" items would be appreciated. The food we did get and service, however, were great!

Great atmosphere for a date night. Service was great, the only con is that it was a little too warm for me there. Food tasted good.

Cibo Vino is a great blend of American-style Italian, and more traditional Italian food. Portions are more reasonable, and I haven't been disappointed by anything in the dozens of times I've been there. The bar side has a lot of great large windows. The restaurant side can feel a little dark. And the staff never disappoints.

They definitely have/had some pretty high prices compared to other eateries in the area. I'm not sure if that is caused by cost of goods or location or what, but I think that did come into play when a lot of economic hardship is happening all over. Like I mentioned above, I DID like their food, but it definitely had to be a special occasion type of thing, due to the high prices. When we did go, I LOVED the Maryland Crab Dip. It reminded me of my favorite crab dip in the world, at the SweetWater Brewing Company in Atlanta. We also had the Green Bean Almandine that was on special last time we went and that was pretty good, but you have to be a green bean fan, for sure. I decided to try the sushi as my main dish last time, and had the Everything Crunch Maki, which consisted of cooked salmon, jalapeño, and cream cheese. It was pretty good, and had a little hint of spice to it from the jalapeño, which cut the heavy cream aspect. My husband had the Grilled Atlantic Salmon for his entree, and gave me a few bites. It was cooked well and the mushroom risotto below it was very flavorful and filling. The cute nautical ambiance and excellent service were always appreciated, so no complaints there either. I think if they had been in a different area with less expensive rent and cost of goods, I may have visited more often.

The mahi mahi tacos were so delicious, the sauce, the flakiness everything about them were devoured. Lastly loved their happy hour options, were tried the calamari and hush puppies(the sauce with these were sooo good and spicy!) The whole place had a welcoming vibe, and made you feel like you were stepping somewhere on the coast side! Which is nice for the Midwest haha. Well done plank provisions!

For starters we went with the blue cheese potato chips, jumbo lump crab cakes, beef carpaccio, and bacon wrapped shrimp. I want to say that all the appetizers that we had were phenomenal and hit the spot just right. Very good J Gilbert's! For dinner I went with the miso glazed sea bass and a cup of the crab bisque soup. While waiting for our food I went with the blood & marriage drink and boy that was delicious, I actually had two of them! After we tackled the appetizers, I dove head first into the crab bisque soup. I'm a sucker for any type of crab or lobster bisque and I had to try this. All I remember the soup had good flavor but man, was it too salty for my liking. I just remember eating it and thinking this is one salty soup. Then the main event came and I have nothing but good things to say about the miso glazed sea bass. I finished my plate and it was really good. The rice isn't really sticky rice like they say. Overall my meal at J Gilbert's was on point and highly recommend with 4 stars. I've been to this location before but it's been a while and we really enjoyed coming back. Came in on a Saturday afternoon when it's fairly typical to have live mariachi bands roving the restaurant. The restaurant is large, and has a fun fiesta of decor. We were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated without reservations. It should be noted that they will take reservations during the week, but not on weekends. There are a number of large tables that can accommodate bigger groups. Complementary parking lot is available out front. However, it does get a little tight during their busy times. This is an interesting Mexican restaurant as it reminds me of something more typical of what you would find on the Yucatán peninsula. Shrimp and mixed ceviche dishes, a large variety of fish dishes, including whole fish that are very traditional for that part of Mexico. They also serve excellent salsa and guacamole, however, this is not the type of Mexican restaurant you can order dishes of queso, or some of the more traditional dishes that you would find at other, more Americanized restaurants. Our server, Christine V was super! We got there a little early in order to secure a larger table off to the side since our infant granddaughter is going to be joining us for a birthday celebration. This restaurant well they don't allow you to bring it outside cakes for dessert offer a variety of desserts that can be offered for special occasions. We also enjoyed their margaritas, which were excellent and offered in the variety of enormous proportions! Everything that was ordered, was generous in quantity and delicious and quality that included a variety of fajitas and shrimp dishes. This location also offers seafood rolls that are prepared at a sushi counter. For those that are a little less brave there are a number of options that offer everything cooked and prepared just like you would find in any local sushi restaurant and as good. The one thing I also love about this restaurant is that it is immaculately clean. There's a dedicated crew that roams and never leaves anything unbussed for long. Everything appears to be wiped, sanitized, and swept in between every round of customers which is brisk. My husband and I first visited Memoir for our anniversary, and it was such an awesome experience, especially for a special occasion like that. After we were done doing all of our (admittedly annoying) photography of the awesome ambiance, we finally sat down to order and eat - and the original amazingness didn't stop there! The menu is not gigantic, which I always appreciate - because I get overwhelmed by too many choices. We picked a few things to share, at the recommendation of our server (who was also amazing and made sure we had a great anniversary dinner). They even gave us a card signed by the staff wishing us a great anniversary! Those little extra touches are what really make a dining experience special. We had the Kale and Bacon Dip for an appetizer, which was DECADENTLY delicious. The dip was smooth and silky with a toasty focaccia which went really well together with the two different textures. And we also grabbed the Pork Potstickers, and my oh my, were those fantastic. Delicate potsticker wrapper, with tons of filling, resting in a carrot-ginger dressing that complemented the potsticker fantastically. We were already so pleased, and didn't believe the entrees could top the starters, but they were just as awesome, which should be no surprise. It was easier to share two entrees, because we couldn't decide between two. Our first entree was the Faroe Island Salmon, and it was cooked to perfection, and served atop an indulgent bed of sweet corn risotto that I still dreeeeam about. And our second entree was the Rigatoni Alla Vodka, which was a little lighter of a meal, so was great paired with the salmon dish which was a tad heavier. I would recommend either of these dishes! We were SO full at this point but we knew we had to get a dessert since this was a special occasion. We shared the chocolate torte and devoured it, even with our extreme fullness. It was so fluffy and chocolatey and DELISH. From start to finish, this was one of the best meals I've had in Omaha. The service was on point, the eats were out of this world, and the vibe of the interior is something to behold.
