Luis' barber shop is as old school as it gets. There are 3 barber chairs. It's Luis and two older ladies. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly. They take their time cutting your hair and also love to talk. So for those of you that don't like to chat and would rather fall asleep, this isn't the place for you. It's fairly priced for the area. Awesome cuts! Luis is a professional! Old school barber from the old days. He does a great straight razor neck line. A fantastic business man's cut or right back to the 50's pompadour fade. My previous barber moved out of state and I needed to find another barber (went 2 months without a haircut). I went on Yelp and read several good reviews so I gave Luis a try. I took the advice of the other reviewers and came at 10am, thinking I wouldn't have to wait. Nope, there were people who waited since 9am. Although there were 4 people ahead of me, the wait was only 45min-1hr (time flew by quickly so it didn't feel like a long wait). I usually get a comb over/ fade with a hard part and line up. I showed Luis a picture and he did my hair perfectly. He cuts fast and the results are great. Looks like I found my new barber as I will come back to Luis everytime I need a haircut. read more

My favorite barber shop. I have gone to most of the barber shops in the area and I have settled here. Luis does a really good job every time. $15 for a haircut. Less for kids. He uses a straight razor for a fine detail. He is very gentle and professional. I have gone to barbers that act like they are buzzing recruits heads at boot camp. Also I'm not a very talkative person and he respects that. Some barbers talk your ear off. He just asks me how I would like my hair cut and maybe some light conversation. Some barbers wanna know your whole life. If you decide to give Luis a try make sure you have ample time. The Haircut: Im a 6'2" Latino on the average side. I usually get one or two on the sides, low tapered and cut to length on top. Tapered to skin neck line. Every time I've been here he does it perfect. You can bring a picture and he will do it exactly. Luis primarily uses clippers but he's a pro and also does a line up shave which is a must for me! The Barbershop: Its a unisex place but his customers are primarily men. The decor and building is a little antiquated but nothing to complain about. It's just a simple barber shop without flair or hipster decor. There is a bathroom and ample sitting and plenty of parking. It's located near el Camino college. The Service: it doesn't get better than Luis. He's been cutting hair for decades. Luis is my to go man here in the South Bay Area. It's not too expensive and he takes his time with hair cuts. If you don't know what you want bring a picture or try to explains he knows what's up and will help you. He also does beards. Just ask him trim your beard as well. Louie is one of a kind. I've known him since I went to El Camino college in 2004. He cuts amazing, tells funny stories and runs that business all by himself. He's a gem. Love him so much and appreciate and admire him as a person. He's almost always busy. Although the days I get lucky and he's a little slow, I like to have him all to myself. We talk for a long time. Unlike the retail barbershops most people go to, Luis' is a licensed professional. He is one of the few licensed barbers who is still allowed to shave faces with a straight-razor. Went in for a haircut becuase my barber was closed. Showed Luis a picture of the fade done to me by my previous barber. He said he can do it. Mid into it he suggest 1.5 not 1 on top anymore like planned. Then he gives me a really really low fade and when i told him i wanted higher like my picture. He said hes looks better and the way i had it before was too high. Basically not willing to fix it. I don't know if it was pride or what, he had customers there as well which made me feel uncomfortable. Even my brother was laughing wondering were i got my fade at. Hes more of an old school barber who doesn't know how to fade. I knew i was in for a surprise when he finished cutting my hair in only 10minutes. Treated me straight like a nunber. If you are into nice clean fades that doesn't look like your drunk buddy did it with some conair clippers this is your place. The two ladies who normally cut my hair were not in today at my regular barber shop so I decided it was too hot to wait til their next work day. My hair was getting long and I didn't want to look like a 60's flower child. So I used the Yelp site and discovered Luis' Barber Shop. I am familiar with this neighborhood since I attended ECC in the mid 80's to early 90's, (yes, a lot of years of the two year college experience) . I walked in and there were three customers ahead in addition to the teenage kid who was getting his haircut. I took a deep breath and muttered, oh there is a long wait. The gentleman cutting hair said, not really. He was right, I saw him maneuver the comb, the clippers, the scissors and the straight blade on his clients like a seasoned Matador at the bull fights. In a blink of an eye, he was done with the four customers ahead of me. I explained what I wanted and he went, "Ole" on my naughen. A regular walked in and said that he has been getting his hair cut by the same man for 30 years. He said that Luis would make me look like a movie star, well you can call me Jorge Clooney, LOL. I have been having Luis cut my hair for more than 40 years my dad took me there when I was a kid and I'm still going to see Luis to this day. I actually went just today I know for a fact that Luis is the best barber anywhere. He is also a great friend to have. I always get there at 9:30 am and wait until Luis gets there usually around 10:00 sometimes a little late he drives a long way to get to work. while I'm in the chair I always kid around with him and his customers we always have a good time.
