Things have really gone down hill at Damian's. I have been coming here for years, and this past year, some of the barbers are no longer here. Also, I come in for a cut, and my barber is either late or tells me that he has to leave after he finishes the guy ahead of me, because he has other errands he needs to run. This happens again and again. Sunday, there were 2 barbers and a few people in line. They turned me away, saying that weren't going to cut any more client's hair. It was 2 hours before closing. The only reason I would come here is the price and that it is nearby. I predict that they will go out of business within the next 2 years. read more

Experienced my first haircut from LA (I'm from seattle) at Damian's barbershop today, and it turned out great! Tuan was my barber today. I look forward to more haircuts at this place. Quality haircut was delivered, at a great pace. Tuan knew exactly what he was doing, and he was up with current trends. I will be following through with these trends next time. Ugh. Hate to write this but the shorter barber named Chi (chee) is careless with his cuts. It's always uneven tapers on the sides, or uneven scissor cuts, with him. He doesn't listen to what you want, either. For example, I asked for a bald taper and at the end of the cut when he turned the chair to show me, I still had sideburns, although he acknowledged the skin taper in the beginning, so he gave me a half ass'd taper that took 1 minute. The back of my head's taper always comes out looking fresh but idk, it's kind of getting on my nerves with how lazy and inconsistent he can be. He also didn't wrap tissue around my neck so many hairs after the cut were on my shirt. My haircut looked so weird the woman manager/owner had to fix my cut. It is a $19 cut after all... read more

I came here for the first time because I'm on a budget. Tired of paying $25 haircuts for a basic fade. So why not spend $13 for something so simple, right. So I show up, I noticed there was an older gentleman occupied doing the old timers and 2 other vietnamese men. The first thing you see walking into the barber is hair on the floor. But an abnormal amount of hair. It seems like they didnt broom atleast 3 or more people before I got to sit down. Im not sure if they were understaffed but stepping all over the hair was uncomfortable. When I sat down, the barber asked me what I wanted and since I am not sure what I usually get, i said a fade with 1 at the bottom. I said "1,2,3,4" until the top my head but he scoffed and made me feel like an idiot as the other barbers were speaking their language and I felt like they were mocking me saying "1,2,3,4." Back in the day when I would have a styled haircut (fade, flat top etc) Damians was my spot where I would go. Nowdays, I either grow out my fro, or keep it totally shaved. I haven't paid for a haircut in years (do my own with my clippers) but today I didn't feel like doing it myself so I came here. Walked right in, sat down and got a 1 clip buzz cut. Damage was $12.00. Gave the guy $15 for a job well done. It was fast, clean and on point. They finish off your neckline/sideburns with an old school straight razor then hit you up with some soothing aftershave gel. I've been coming here since I was a kid, actually first cut ever was here. I'm not a fan of getting My haircut, weird I know..lol but, coming here over the years has been pleasant. I used to walk in & let anyone available cut My hair. I wasn't getting a cut that was complicated so anyone worked. I did have one not so good experience that led Me to stick with John. John has been there forever & he had always given Me a quality cut & enjoyed the banter. I def call to see if he's there or is not, when he will be. They started taking credit cards a bit ago but, I had to learn the hard way when the "main" guy wasn't there, they couldn't process My card. I don't normally carry cash, thankfully though, I had just enough that particular day. Unfortunately I didn't have for a tip, which I felt bad but, they shouldn't say they accept CC's if they only have one guys process & he's not always there. So, My tip, just take cash. I used to go here regularly and stopped recently. They do accept credit cards and the price is low which is a plus, but I was never impressed with the cuts I received and feel that the english language speaking skills of many of the barbers was not high enough to fully understand how I wanted my hair to come out. I'm unsure if possibly what I wanted was too complicated for the tools/skills of a barber, or if they had in mind how they wanted to cut it and just did it. I went here to get a quick haircut. I'm very displeased with how it turned out. I gave the barber very simple directions and clearly articulated what I wanted and he did the complete opposite. I asked for a low fade and he gave me a high fade. I also asked for a line up and he proceeded to decimate my hairline. He pushed my right sideburn back a good 1.5 inches. Then when I pointed out his mistake and told him he didn't even listen to what I wanted, he still tried to just make me pay him. It wasn't until his co-worker saw what he did and told him that he needs to comp me that he finally stopped asking me to pay. Then he laughed and said he'll get it right the next time. Tuan greeted me and proceeded to perform my cut complete w/a nice fade. I could not have been more satisfied for $12, and left a $3 tip for a total damage of $15 - how do you beat that? I have been to this place for the last 3 years whenever I am back home from college. My first couple of visits years prior weren't that great, but recently I have been getting excellent haircuts because I have been sticking to a regular barber. Tuan is the name you want to ask for. He is always consistent and gives great haircuts. I always end up leaving satisfied. He pays attention to all the details and takes his time when cutting your hair.
