Came in on this rainy day with no wait. CA live was on the TV and Nick got right to work on this masterpiece. I've come to Expert once before and really liked the outcome so I came back. I simply asked for a 1 on the sides and just enough on top to comb it over. Blend the sides and hard part with a line. Took just about half and hour and it's probably the best haircut I've received in awhile if ever. I'll definitely come back to get this one done or another one come the new trends. Owner- Good barber. Second guy in shop- never sat in his chair. His work looks okay but not my style. Prices are great but there are issues... no appointments and parking is tight. But my biggest concern- no masks on the barbers and they do not clean after each patron. That's just gross overall. All in all, I'd recommend them but not during covid since masks are not happening- even when you ask- and the place is dirty af. read more

This place is an expert at wasting your time. I called for an appointment, the person who answered said no appointments just come in, walk ins welcome. So I drop by at 9:15 am on Saturday and they're closed, but Yelp says they're open at 9:00 am. So I'm thinking maybe they're just running late. I wait until 10:00, walk in and I'm the 2nd person in "line". The owner tells me that the barber will be here soon. Since I already wasted around 40 minutes why not just wait a little longer right? I sit here waiting for another 20 minutes with no one showing up yet. Well another 2 people come in, sit down in line, then the owner starts working on their haircuts. Me and this other guy looked at each other, thinking we've been waiting in line first and the owner decides to help someone who walked in after us. They just give priory to their regulars? Or was this an appointment? Oh right, they don't have appointments, so why did they skip us two who were waiting first? Completely butchered my hair: - asked for a zero fade; got a #2 - asked for no hair thinning; got hair thinning - didn't ask for a hairline shave across my forehead; got a hairline shave (the hair is now starting to grow and it looks even more ridiculous now as little hairs stick up from the front of my head) So don't be shocked if or WHEN you get the opposite of everything you've asked for. This place is bizarro land. Nick (I think he was the owner) totally screwed up my hair. It's gonna to take at least 3 months, or longer, for the hair to grow back to original form. Also, on another disgusting note, Nick asked me to wash my hair in the restroom sink (which I've never had to do -- EVER -- at any halfway decent barbershop) then he hands me a towel. As I walk to the restroom, I look down at the towel and it was completely filthy with dark black streak marks, like he used it to wipe the floors. And not sure if $16 is the normal charge for a fade here or if he overcharged me for washing my own hair in their restroom sink smh. Never ever will return. Not sure if he was having an off day or if he just didn't like me, but I'm a pretty relaxed person, so I just let all that slide, didn't make a fuss, paid him (with a tip), and walked out. read more

Giant waste of time. I have been coming to expert since they were on prairie and Daisy was around. I stopped when she passed away. Today I thought I'd give it a try. Called to set appt and they told me no appts just walk INS and they weren't busy. So I pull up come in 5 min after and there's 2 people in both seats, and 2 people waiting before me.1 person after me walks in. So they take the next two guys up and I'm waiting for my turn and the asian barber calls his buddy up before me by name. So I just waited 40 minutes to be pushed back. Naw not today. I'm so happy to have found this place when I came to North Torrance. I always used to dread haircuts but Nick is great and always gives me a clean cut. He is very welcoming and really is an expert barber. I have been coming here for a few years now and thought it was worth writing a review so I might be biased but you want to see the consistency when you get a haircut and feel like they are treating you like family, which is something they do. The barber just stood in front of his empty chair while watching TV while I stared at him waiting for a greeting or a welcome to the chair. This spot is located on the corner of 182nd & Crenshaw. It's in between am/pm & the post office with their own little parking lot that's shared with 2other small businesses (card shop & a lab office). Parking is a little tight. My boys have been coming here forever and continue to come every month. The cuts are super cheap but the cuts are high quality. My son has been going there since he was 4 and is now 17. These guys have a lot of patience & skills. My brother n law who is also special needs comes here. He always ask for his "fade" proudly. read more

This place is called Expert Barbers for a reason...they are "Experts". Daisy is by far, the best in what she does. Be specific in what type of haircut you want and she will deliver. My husband has been getting haircuts from Daisy for years (following from barber to barber) & now my 4 1/2 year old son is getting his haircuts with Daisy. My son is usually scared to get haircuts but she is very gentle and knows what she's doing. We also know that her daughter Jasmine is now following her mother's footsteps and being an Expert Barber. Go Jasmine!!!! I would recommend calling to make an appointment ahead of time or at least call to see how they are running. Yes they are busy because yes they are good. I walked in and there was no wait. There was two barbers present, but none of them acknowledged me until I asked if they accepted walk-ins. The owner pointed me to an older man. I sat in his chair and told him what I wanted. The haircut itself was fine, but the barber who attended me was very unprofessional and unpleasant. He was talking to another barber the whole time I was getting my hair cut, and he just kept making very sexist and racist comments. Then the phone rang, and the he yelled "FUCK!" when the call ended. Then he went on and on about how people nowadays are addicted to their phones, and how back in his day everything was all better... blah blah blah. For years I've been experimenting with different barber shops, but could never find a place that could cut consistently. Just recently, I came across Expert Barbers and decided to give it a try. For once I can finally say I've found a place that can cut my hair the way I wanted. They offer a range of traditional to modern styles for men & boys. The place is pretty clean and the atmosphere gives off a 50's vibe. Staff is very friendly and service is unlike any other barber shop I've been to. They make you feel very welcomed and as an added bonus they offer refreshments while you're waiting. This is my favorite place to take my dad for a beard/mustache trim! Nick is such a gentleman and very professional! All the other barbers who have trimmed my dad's beard in the past have been really rough. I always have to tell them that my dad has very thin and sensitive skin on his face and neck. Nick is simply the best. Hands down. I've always dreaded haircuts. No matter what barber or salon I go to, I almost never feel like I get the cut I want, and that's mostly on me and my lack of fashion sense. I visited Expert Barbers on a whim about half a year ago and now I won't go anywhere else. I explained to Nick what I wanted the first time, and not only has he provided an excellent haircut time and time again, but he's a wonderful person to have a conversation with. It doesn't matter how much time is in between haircuts; Nick remembers you, what you want, and is genuinely interested in how you are doing. Even though I no longer work in the Gardena area, I still make an effort to come here for all my haircuts. Not to mention, the price is outstanding for what you get.
