Denver (cheddar, bell peppers, ham, onions) + mushrooms and home fries. (Toast not pictured)
    Susana T.

Came here for pickup. Food was ready on time and was a good portion. If you're someone who doesn't each much, the Denver could easily be shared between two people. The menu said "no substitutions" but I ordered added mushrooms on mine, for an extra charge of course. I would definitely come by for a sit-down breakfast. It's not a bougie spot, so there are no fancy frills. Nevertheless, the array of options are great for lunch too. Bring cash or be prepared to pay with debit. They do not allow credit transactions.

They let me get spinach with mushrooms and onions instead of eggs.

My go to!!! Always! They pretty much make whatever you want. If it's not on the menu you'll be surprised at what they're able to do. They never disappoint. I always stick with the breakfast but today i tried their tuna melt. It was soooo good!!! I mean i wish this place was open on the weekends so i can come more often. I've been coming here for years and i must say this is probably the ONLY spot that is consistent with the great quality of food and service. I love this place!!!!

I have been to this establishment before and the food and service was ok. I liked the fact that they served refried Mexican beans as a side option for breakfast (I am half Mexican, reminded me of having breakfast with my family) I don't think I will ever come back here again. I ordered chorizo with eggs, potatoes and refried beans. The chorizo and eggs were dry. My order of refried beans came 5 min later the bathroom is hideous and the service is lacking. Our waitress sat and ate, but before she did that she didn't even bother to ask if we needed anything. I try and patronize small family owned businesses as I have my own business however I just can't when the service and food is bad

    Fish sandwich. Delicious!

I rolled through this place. I ordered to go off the menu. I had a hard time deciding what to order. I ordered the fish sandwich to go with a salad. Came home and devoured it. Go Luis coffee shop. Yum.

Honey, 5 stars for my breakfast this morning. I've eaten here Hella times throughout the course of my life and today I noticed that they have really stepped it up. Service is a tad slow but the waitress is attentive. I had the shrimp and vegetable omelette (that I turned into a scramble) add spinach and home fries. The home fries were diced and had veggies in it. Yum. But my scramble was better than I expected. They are generous with the prawns. Everything was really on point. I wish I didn't get full because I couldn't eat all the potatoes. Sigh

Ordered the Ginger Honey Jobani as a hot drink, Biscoff Milkcake, Honeycomb, and a Beef Fatayer. There were several kinds of milkcakes which would have the texture like a tres leches cake. The Honeycomb had pockets of cream cheese and was drizzles with honey. The Meat Fatayer is like an empanada. The food and drink were very tasty. MLK Cafe was perfectly located and exactly what I needed. I've never had Eritrean food before, so I was pretty excited. I ordered the foul meseleh ($13) from the breakfast menu (available all day though I had to ask for it), which was a bean-based dish, and chai. It kind of reminded me of shakshuka in terms of spices but the beans almost tasted meaty. I liked it so much that I brought it home, and my partner said it tasted like refried beans (though he did have them cold). The crusty warm bread was perfect for dipping, and I ended up not being able to finish it. The chai was pretty milky; there was a tea bag and the spices weren't very strong. Then again, I'm used to Indian chais. I would pass on the chai. There was basically no one else there on a Friday afternoon during off-peak hours. It was dimly lit and kind of chilly because the door was left open, so it wasn't the most comfortable cafe ambiance. The wifi did work well though and I would come back to try more Eritrean and Ethiopian food.

That's what really drew us in. Very tasty breakfast, got the injera breakfast plate filled with lots of spices, tomato flavor and tang from the bread. Super addicting if you love those flavors. Inside wise, you can watch two tv's playing sports, our waitress/cashier was very kind, and it appeared like many locals hanging out. Only thing is their menu prices are out of date. About $13 plus tax per plate. Hope to come back at night to see the bar open and some live music!

Our server was fantastic--friendly, relatable, and attentive throughout the evening, which made the experience even better. The food was definitely the highlight. The sesame bread was absolutely delicious and one of my favorite starters. We tried several salads, and the standout for me was the Brokaw avocado salad. The combination of avocado, marinated beets, cucumbers, and kumquats was unique and full of flavor. The Caesar salad was also excellent. The only salad I didn't care for was the arugula salad. I usually enjoy arugula, but the flavor profile just wasn't for me and felt like more of an acquired taste. For the pastas, the rigatoni with pork and beef ragù was my favorite dish of the night. The flavor was rich, comforting, and incredibly well balanced. We also tried the spaghetti with pesto alla Genovese. It had good flavor, but I personally preferred the rigatoni by a wide margin. We sampled a variety of their Neapolitan pizzas, and most of them were outstanding. My favorites were the rapini sausage and lemon pizza and the shishito pepper sausage pizza. The pepperoni and mushroom pizza was also excellent. The only pizza that missed the mark for me was the zucchini pizza with spring onion and ricotta salata. I'd give that one a 3/5 because the flavor combination just didn't quite come together for my taste. I had read another review where someone rated the restaurant 3/5 after ordering that pizza, and I can understand why. However, after trying so many different menu items, I would personally rate the overall food experience closer to a 4/5. The house wine was delicious, and it appears they have a rotating seasonal menu, which makes me want to come back and try new dishes. For dessert, the mascarpone gelato and blueberry sorbet creamsicle with olive oil and Maldon salt was an easy 10/10. I was obsessed. We also tried what seemed to be a chocolate pudding with whipped cream and an olive oil cake. Neither was bad, but they didn't stand out to me the way the gelato did. Overall, Pizzaiolo delivered a fun dining experience with great service, creative dishes, and several memorable menu items. While not every dish was a hit for me personally, there was far more to love than not, and I'd definitely return.

All in all- took 32 mins. So again, if you have somewhere to be- order ahead! Food was good. Could definitely tell it was made fresh to order - not only because it took some time but because my friend cauliflower came out PIPING hot. Lots of oil drippings, so if that isn't your thing, may not be for you, but I will say that it was my fav bite. This was a good restaurant- I would say 4 stars for the food alone. BUT if you're in a pinch, either order online or maybe save this spot for when you have more time. Also- I know that good quality food is pricey, this place is no exception. As a result, it took a while for them to be able to stop by our table and provide water, take our order, etc. There was quite a long wait between sitting down to ordering to actually receiving our food. By the time we had actually received our food, almost an hour had passed. While we were waiting, a few other servers eventually joined, but service was still pretty bare for us and we never received refills on water or plates to eat off of when we received our food. I understand that staffing and a backup in the kitchen are out of the staff's control, but it would've definitely helped for us to know in advance how long to expect to wait to align our expectations and arrange our plans for the day. Would advise giving customers a quick heads up/warning because that on its own would've made a big difference. As for the actual food, we ordered the mac trio with elote mac, chicken pot pie mac, and kogi short rib mac (for an extra fee). The elote mac was the best and most flavorful, the short rib mac was okay but not amazing or worth the extra money, and the chicken pot pie mac was very bland/flavorless and didn't have much chicken in it. The food didn't feel like it warranted the wait time and because of that I would not return.
