This place is a hidden gem, but I don't think it will be "hidden" for long given they've only been open for about 3 months. The fries are one of the best I've had-- no exaggeration. They're thick cut, crispy on the outside, well salted, and come out fresh from the fryer that I can tell uses clean oil. The burger is slightly less impressive but still very good. To say that it is greasy though would be an understatement, but as long as they lean into it and not act like they're a "healthy" option, I don't see a problem with it. Their signature sauce on the burger is great too. I'd suggest a bit less salt on the burger though. I will be coming back again.

Had to go in for seconds today with my coworkers. Just Doordashed it and it tasted as good as if I walked in and had it. Coworkers enjoyed it as well.

Menu is quite extensive, filled with homey family friendly diner foods and their ice cream sundaes are wonderful. You can choose from all their flavors and customize your own or select from their signature sundaes and milk shakes. As for milkshakes, you can ask for with or without whip cream and either way, it's with any flavor of your choosing. So we had mocha royal, our fav! Definitely did not disappoint! Yum! Both crab and tuna sandwiches are prepared in SF sourdough breads. We loved how the buttered sour dough bread slices were grilled to bring out the best in the fillings. Crunchy toasty exterior but chewy with fillings of either crab or tuna - these sandwiches are just the right size and ... ah to die for! Service was friendly and as attentive as expected mid-day. The ambiance is that of retro feel-good cheerful lemon yellow grandma vibe, but it's got that pop groovy feel as well. Sundaes&milkshakes&grilled sandwiches&fries!! It's a decadent reward, meetups or birthday celebrations or just because... we deserve this kind of Americana diner experience from time to time. It's a delightful place worth coming back to !

The employee would forget which flavors we wanted and rudely asked for all of us (who already got our ice cream) to leave the space as it was getting too crowded. Fair ask, yes. The way it was delivered? Just rudely said with a bad tone too. I also got charged for my ice cream when one of my friends had already paid for mine in front of me. I went to have it reversed, and he was saying how my friend paid for 6 singles and I got a junior size then there was nothing to be reversed. If anything we paid twice and for the wrong size. I get that it may have been confusing especially with big groups and long lines but it could have been handled more professionally.

There are so many inventive options on any given day, and there are always exciting new ones to try at each visit! I was inspired to finally write a review after hearing about some weirdos getting up in arms about a correctly-named ice cream inspired by a local legend, but to be honest this review was long overdue regardless because the ice cream really is worth it. If you're sensitive to lactose at all (even short of being intolerant), you'll most likely notice a difference in how good you feel after eating Bad Walter's compared to other dairy ice creams. I talk about this place to friends all the time, I don't think you can go wrong with anything they have here. Highly recommend subscribing to Sydney's newsletter to get the inside scoop (haha) on the goings-on behind the scenes plus getting the first look at the weekly menu, because sometimes the one on the website isn't updated as often!

I'm fully prepared to be that person at the store, scooping straight out of the container instead of bothering with a cup or cone I tried Pink Jesus, Matcha Snickerdoodle, Vietnamese Coffee, and Honey Graham Cracker. I wasn't quite sure what to expect from Pink Jesus, but it ended up being a pleasant surprise. It's a blend of lavender and raspberry, with the lavender coming through more strongly, floral but not overwhelming. The Matcha Snickerdoodle and Vietnamese Coffee were both bold and very true to their flavors. You can immediately tell what you're eating, which I loved. The Honey Graham Cracker, though, was a bit too sweet for my taste.

The only issue is there's no clear menu posted online, so we walked in completely blind. Their website shows a long list of flavors but not what they actually have that day, so it felt like a guessing game. The line moved really slow because there was only one employee handling everything. She was taking orders, giving samples, answering questions, and ringing people up all at once. She was super friendly and doing her best, but it felt like a lot for one person during a rush and the shop could definitely use more help. The space is really small and tight so it was hard to even see the flavors until we got close to the front. When we finally got up there, a lot of the tubs were already empty which was confusing since most ice cream shops restock. Some flavors I wanted weren't available anymore, and if they're out it would make more sense to just remove them from display. The dirty containers didn't make sense to display. I sampled the jasmine green tea and knew right away I wanted it. It was creamy with a smooth tea flavor that wasn't overpowering. I got a small with half jasmine green tea and half avocado. The avocado was surprisingly really good, super creamy and tasted like a fresh avocado smoothie. Both flavors weren't overly sweet which I liked. My husband wanted cookies and cream but it was sold out so he got chocolate chip instead, which was solid and creamy with good texture. Overall the ice cream itself was good, not the best I've had but definitely not bad. I like that the flavors lean more natural and not overly sweet. I could see myself coming back if I'm in the area, but the experience would be a lot better with faster service and more consistency with what's actually available.
