Came here with my Sorors. They wanted to brunch and I wanted Mimosas. This place has both. We parked on the street. The wait was about 10 to 15 mins long. We sat in a both. One ordered patty melt and fries and the other ordered avocado, chicken sausage and potatoes. I had French fries. Food came out quick and hot. They both enoyed their meals. I got both a strawberry mimosa and a peach one. So did my fellow Sorors. We even asked for less juice and they accommodated us. I world most certainly come back to this spot. This is still one of my favorite spots in SL. They have yummy waffles and other delicious breakfast items. We have brought family and friends here and everyone has enjoyed it. We really love this place and have made it our regular brunch spot on the weekend. Everything is reliably good diner food and the prices are reasonable for the portions you get. If you get pancakes get the sweet cream ones, they're the best. The only complaint I have is that I like my bacon and hashbrowns extra crispy (like extra extra) and even when I ask they don't always come out as crispy as I'd like them, but that's okay. Sometimes, I don't get enough sleep. And it shows. We had to drop off a vehicle at the local Honda dealership for warranty work. Then we headed for breakfast. We ordered and got coffee as soon as we sat down. The menu has standard breakfast items plus some Mexican flavors. My usual go-to is either Chicken Fried Steak or Huevos Rancheros. Today, for whatever reason, I also felt like a Waffle Combination with Eggs and Bacon. It took a minute for the server to come take our order and when it was my turn, I completely spazzed. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with Country Gravy. That comes with Two Eggs, which I got Over Easy and then a choice of Hash Browns or Grits. For bread, I asked for a Biscuit with more Gravy. That's already a decent sized breakfast but my mouth kept running and I also ordered some Bacon that I most definitely did not need. She got Breakfast #3 which had Two Pancakes, Three Eggs Over Easy and Four Link Sausages, Small Glass of Juice and included Coffee. Not to worry. We are eating professionals. We enjoyed our meals. Cutest little cafe EVER!! Was immediately greeted by a food server that was genuinely very nice. Told to site where ever I wanted. Took a small booth near the window. Coffee came fairly soon after. I was jonesing for biscuits and gravy and this place did not disappoint!! Two HUGE cheddar biscuits split in half with lots of gravy. Thought I would be a good girl and order a side of fruit. Pelton cafe is one of those places that makes a city. San Leandro wouldn't be San Leandro without this latinx owned restaurant. For as long as I can remember this restaurant has been around. I used to come here with friends after school when I was in high school and I have fond memories of this place. I went here again for the first time in two years last sunday and I'm so happy to see that business is still booming and their food is still as delicious as ever. Their 1/3 burger is one of the best burgers I've ever had. It's juicy, well seasoned, and packed with veggies to balance the thick meat patty. The fries that accompany the burger were fried to a crispy perfection! I love the way Pelton cafe makes their fries, it's delicious! I decided to order a side of corn beef hash as well and alone it was nothing special but then I put it in the burger and it was like I had an epiphany! Combining the corn beef hash and the burger was a genius idea, I would recommend it if you like corn beef hash. Although it was packed our waitress would come by and check how we were doing and to refill our waters. We didn't feel neglected by the staff at all. I'm pretty sure I'll be coming here more often now that I'm back in the East Bay. read more

Hate to be crass in starting my comments with prices, but their prices have gone thru the roof since I used to live nearbye and used to eat there frequently until I moved 2 years ago. Way more than the 20% inflation during this period. It is one thing to pass along all the inflation to the customer rather than sharing the pain by absorbing some of it, but to gouge customers by exceeding the rate is absolutely revolting.Three of us paid about 70 dollars for breakfast. Routine coffee, donut store quality, was over 4 dollars a cup. Two of us had to send our food back for reheating, having been served cold. My bacon was rubbery, the pancakes were bland, the eggs tasteless; my wife's potatoes also tasteless in my opinion, although she says she could taste bad oil. Guess I have seen too many episodes of Restaurant impossible but the food cost (I know it's just a cliche) is supposed to be 1/3 of menue cost, not 1/5. The service was excellent, I will give them that. Recommend not patronizing. read more

My partner ordered the Eggs Benedict, and I ordered the 2+2+2+2 it's 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausage links, and 2 bacon strips, we also added a side of potatoes. The food is pretty standard for a diner, which usually hits the spot early in the morning. The eggs Benedict were pretty standard. I was disappointed with my meal. It came out cold. Im sure if I would have said something, the staff would have taken care of it because they were friendly and checked on us regularly. Since there are a lot of things inside the restaurant, I think things get dusty so if you have allergies like my partner and I do, you might sneeze some here. My partner ordered a breakfast plate with French toast, eggs, and bacon. I ordered the huevos a la Mexicana, which had eggs scrambled with veggies, corn tortillas, avocado, and refried beans. Our food came out lightening fast but it was just okay and I wouldn't recommend my plate, which I found bland and not very good. The eggs were spongy and the refried beans were bland. My partner's French toast was standard, but nothing special. He also said his bacon and eggs were on the greasier side. The side of potatoes was really not good - too greasy and flavorless. Always a great place for breakfast and the standard has remained consistent over years and decades! Been ages since we came. But thanksgiving calls for it, so we got here around 10am. Managed to grab a table in the corner which was perfect. I got the special Julisa's French toast with a side of hash browns. French toast was very good, but the hash browns could've been a little more cooked. It was just a little soft and soggy in the middle. But still ok. This place has been consistently good for quite a number of years. Basic morning and lunch diner grub. But they do it well! On the weekends there is always a line but it doesn't take that long. We come here periodically and will be back! My only complaint is the use of three different menus. There is one that was left on the table one that the server collected and one you had to download on your phone. Pretty confusing, well not really. But I really wish restaurants would stay away from the online menu feature. I want to hold a menu. I don't want to scroll through my phone, It's too confusing... Also my wife wanted turkey bacon with her meal instead of the included pork bacon. It was an extra $2 charge. Quick service, friendly staff. The unfortunate part was the food and cost. :( The gravy in the biscuits & gravy tasted just... kind of weird? Like under seasoned or even a little sweet which was strange, and it barely had any sausage bits in it which was disappointing. The bacon did taste good but $6 for four slices is kind of insane. They also need to update their website pricing because the only reason I tried this place out was for the $10 biscuits & gravy + $2 for 2 eggs, listed on the website. I paid $14 for that instead of $12 - sure, $2 seems negligible, but the prices should be updated regardless so people know what they'll be paying if they check ahead. Hopefully their other dishes are better but the biscuits and gravy and expensive bacon is a no for me next time. read more

We were looking for breakfast and came across this diner in the area. I'm a bit of a diner snob (diners in the South just can't be beat), so this is what I thought: Hashbrowns: At first I was excited that they seemed extra crispy, but they were actually a bit overdone and dry, which I rarely have found in a hashbrown. I guess I prefer them dry to soggy though. Grits: These were average; they're made with water so not creamy kind, which I expected. Honestly, it was nothing to write home about, but still my favorite item of the day when paired with ham. Coffee: This is just plain diner coffee; you know, that sub par, slightly watered down thing that perks your soul after the fourth cup? Ham: This was also nothing to write home about, but they gave a pretty big portion, which I appreciated. Chicken fried steak: This was my least favorite as it was too oily and the texture of meat was mushy to me. Really reminded me of a warm soggy sock. Beef hash: This was a close least favorite as it was also too mushy and looked remarkably like cat vomit; we sent it back to have them cook it more, but still wasn't very crispy and I couldn't bring myself to eat it. I didn't try french toast but it was quite small for the price you pay. My family thought they were okay. Overall, it's not somewhere I'd come again, but I have some edible options in case I have to.
