I really didn't want a videographer for my wedding for two reasons: I thought it was too much money and I thought a videographer would feel intrusive on my wedding day. Fortunately, I heeded the advice of many brides who'd come before me and, against my initial misgivings, decided to go for it. I'm so glad I did! My two concerns now seem so silly. Luke was completely unobtrusive and was also able to work with my teeny-tiny budget. That day is such a blur and I hardly remember the beautiful toasts that our family gave, the details of the gorgeous beach ceremony, my hilarious wardrobe malfunction during our first dance ... Thankfully, I now have this record of all those moments! I recommend having a video of your wedding and I whole-heartedly recommend having Luke McCain film it. He's great! Just do it! read more

If you're anything like me you probably haven't considered hiring a wedding videographer because, well, it's one more expense. Trust me when I say that I am SO glad I ditched that idea! Luke is extremely professional -- arriving early, dressing appropriately for the occasion, even taking the time to personally meet our family members and introduce himself. He was easy to work with throughout the whole process and caught every moment perfectly. Best of all, we kind of forgot he was there! Luke did such a great job but was never "in the way" or obvious about it. Perhaps best of all, we got our video within a few weeks! Getting to sit down and relive that day again and again is so special. Hiring Luke was one of the best decisions we made because he was wonderful to work with and now we will have these memories forever captured on film to show our kids and grandkids someday! We worked with Luke on our wedding "Love Story" video which we plan to show at our upcoming wedding. Basically a bunch of interview questions, some fun activities that we like to do, then some romantic shots by a lake. Luke's focus is actually wedding videos, but he was totally up for filming our idea that we pitched to him. He was a lot of fun to work with, made us really comfortable (my fiance typically gets super stressed with wedding related stuff because she wants everything to be perfect). He was cool with playing off our ideas, very encouraging and also gave us great ideas on getting better shots and giving us specific directions when we needed it. We ended filming our interview questions, three activities at three different nearby locations. He was so easy going about us shuttling him around. Basically we had a great time filming it. We had initial planned for a 5 to 7 min video, but the first edit that he sent us was so good due to him choosing the best footage and mixing in the songs we chose, that we couldn't cut anything and ended up going with the whole 12+ mins. He was also great with doing a couple of minor edits that we requested. Minor minus - the DVD we sent us was a plain blank DVD with hand written label. We thought it would have been a nice one with a cool label. I'm sure he does that for the official wedding videos that he shoots... But just a minor gripe, I can make a nice DVD label myself. Overall, I couldn't recommend Luke more, he is awesome to work with, very talented with his editing and also very prompt and professional. read more

One of my 2012 brides booked them and with the couple's permission, I posted the video on my front page of my website, YouTube and a few other places. Luke and his team did such an amazing job capturing my bride's day in a few minutes and not to mention my floral work! I completely agree with the rest of the reviews about Luke McCain Videography. I came across his ad on craigslist and viewed his video trailers on you tube and was very impressed. Luke is great at what he does, he is creative and artistic. He captured every important moment in the wedding and made sure to get testimonials from our guests which I really wanted. He is very professional and was the easiest vendor to work with. He always responded to my emails quickly and was willing to accommodate all of our requests. We are so impressed with our DVDs and love watching them with family and friends who also are just as impressed. This review is so overdue! We hired Luke for our 7-19-13 wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum. We hired Luke when he was still a one man shop. He had asked us a week before the wedding if we wanted to add an additional person but at that point we were over budget so we decided against it. Luke was amazing. It's hard to believe that he was recording it all himself. He was able to get so many amazing angles and captured many of the important moments of our day. His pricing was so reasonable and our video is better than many I've seen from other companies. I really didn't even notice the filming throughout the wedding and the reception. I think he used to be a spy or something because he is able to move around so quickly and quietly. He also has such a great personality. I struggled with four or five stars for this one because I was originally sad that our first dance wasn't edited as I think that's a pretty important part of the wedding. I also wished he had got us walking back down the aisle. But, for the latter, he was a one man shop and got so many great shots I can't complain there. And, for the former, we did get the raw footage which has so many amazing memories on it including our first dance. Though I still do wish it was edited for us I don't think he deserves less than five stars for all the amazing work he did and effort he put in. Overall, I'm so happy we hired Luke. We definitely got our money's worth. Hire him, you won't be disappointed. We will have these amazing memories to watch for ever, thanks Luke! read more

Per Luke's request, I am writing an update to my review. After writing my initial review, I got a call and email from Luke saying that he'd be happy to re-edit our first dance so that we would be happy with. Now that's great customer service! He obviously takes pride in his work and making couples happy. However, after 4 days he informed me that there wasn't anything that would improve the first dance edit. He also mentioned that he doesn't normally have a chapter for the first dance. After looking back at our contract and previous emails, I found that there are only usually 4 chapters on the DVDs (highlight, ceremony, toasts and speeches, and dancing). Our DVD has 7 chapters (highlight, ceremony, reception intros and first dance, flash mob, toasts, parent dances, reception dancing). Luke felt that I was being unfair for "punishing" him in my review for giving me extra footage. Now that was my fault for assuming that there would be coverage of the first dance; I really should have double checked the contract. Had I known that the first dance would not be included, I would have paid extra to make sure we had a good view of it instead of "cinematic angles" to put into the highlight. If you are doing a choreographed first dance, make sure that you do this! Anyway, since Luke tried to make me happier and so that I don't "punish" him for doing something extra, I have upgraded his star rating to 4 stars. Here is a copy of one of Luke's emails to me: Hi Angela, I tried looking for different shots of your first dance to try and put together a better edit for you to make it something you would like better and unfortunately I couldn't find anything that I think would improve the edit. I believe I truly used the best shots available in the edit you have on your DVDs. Again, I'm sorry for that - as I mentioned in my previous email - we usually don't include the full first dance on the DVD and thus we were filming for the highlight to try and get multiple cinematic angles. I appreciate your kindness and review - and hopefully still request that your 3 star Yelp review be amended - as I feel bummed for being punished for adding in extra free content. Just learn from our snafu and I'm sure you will be very happy with your wedding video put together by Luke. read more

I recently got married on New Years Eve and wanted a reasonably priced videographer, but great quality as well. I found Luke onYelp and started to research his work. I really liked the way he put the videos and music together. I was even more impressed when it came to the big day. He showed up right on time, and jumped right in on filming. He was so great because you always saw him in the mix and shooting everything, and everyone. But he was never in the way or overpowering at all. I have seen my fare share of videographers being in the wedding myself, and I can't say enough great things about Luke. He always had a smile on his face and was happy to be there, even though it was a huge party holiday. I can't wait to see all f the footage edited, because I know it will be perfect. I could not be happier with my experience with Luke McCain. From the very beginning, Luke was friendly, easy to work with, communicated in a very timely manner, and very professional. I didn't know what to expect from Luke on the day of the wedding (that was the first time I had met him), but he did a wonderful job! He was on time and captured all of the special moments of our day. As an added bonus, Luke is very affordable considering how talented he is. Our edited DVD was truly amazing. We could not be happier with the final product that Luke put together. During the ceremony, there was a problem with the venue's microphones, but Luke managed to edit the video so that you can barely tell. Shane with Luke McCain Videography was hands down my favorite vendor I hired for my wedding. I was referred to Luke by a friend whose wedding was a about a year prior to mine. She was really happy with her final product so I reached out to Luke and he was willing to work within my budget. His website also listed several previous wedding highlight videos that he had done so I was really able to get a feel for what his work was like and what he was capable of. Before I even hired him, I sent him several questions and he was super responsive, addressing all of my concerns. On the day of the wedding, Shane arrived on time (actually a little bit early) and was a pleasure to work with. To be honest, with all that was going on, I really didn't even notice him most of the time but he was able to get shots of everything! When I got the highlight video, I was blown away. It was absolutely beautiful and captured the essence of the entire day in just a short 3 minutes. The editing was superb. When the final video arrived with the full ceremony, speeches, a dancing chapter, and the raw footage, it was awesome to re-live the moments that pass by too quickly to really absorb on your actual wedding day. When I was planning my wedding, I didn't think about videography until I started reading advice from other brides that highly recommended it. I am so glad that we were able to fit this into our wedding budget and I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have video. Luke was great to work with from the very beginning. I live across the country and Luke was one of the easiest vendors to communicate with via email and phone. I didn't meet him until our wedding day, but nonetheless he delivered. He wasn't an in your face camera guy and seemilngly blended into the background. However, he was able to catch amazing shots of our wedding for our video and a bunch of highlights through the night which I would not have seen if it was not for him. Our kids got married in June and didn't want to spend the money on a videographer. They said, " why do we need it - we'll never watch the video". Having videos from previous milestones, we knew WE would watch it - over and over again - so we did a search online and found Luke - his website and prices were amazing and seemed too good to be true. But after speaking with him only once on the phone, we hired him! The kids wanted a "simple and short video, capturing the special moments of the wedding". We never met him in person before the wedding, so I told him to just capture the important details and go for it. We connected with each other on the day of the wedding - on the way to the ceremony - literally - I saw a man with a video camera and said "follow me"! Not only did he follow me, he did it very discretely and I never knew he was there. Before we received the finished video he emailed us a little "teaser" - which held us over - that was great! It feels amazing to be able to finally write a good review for something from my wedding!! Our photographer was really not as great as we thought she would be and we were so disappointed that we didn't have great photos from the wedding. I was just in such a bad mood about it and then Luke sends us our 'highlights video.' This is only 3 minutes long and I started to cry when I saw it because FINALLY something turned out!!! This short video was absolutely phenomenal and displayed all the intricate moments from that day that I hardly even remember because it all seems like a blur! And this is only the highlights video so now I am ECSTATIC to receive the full DVD that he is finishing up!! Luke is incredibly friendly and is so accommodating to any budget! I just called him and said that I am trying to stick around a certain number and he said he could work with it. He came back with a proposal of what he could include for my budget and it was everything we needed in our price range. If you are on the fence about video, ABSOLUTELY do it!! It doesnt matter the cost because honestly, you will not remember 75% of that day and you want to have that video, not only just to remember what happened, but also to use it as a reminder of how much love you had on that day for 30 years down the line when you are in the biggest fight and can't come out of it. We booked Luke for under $1000 and had the best service and end product that we could have ever asked for so I HIGHLY recommend Luke McCain for your wedding!!!
