I just walked in with my friend, Saturday of a long weekend at 6:35pm, I saw a least 7 open tables, and only one customer seated at the bar. They denied services to us because supposedly"they are understaffed " Seriously? They don't know how to get ready for the weekend? Or simply they choose who or who not to serve. We have been going to Luke's since Mike Lucas started the restaurant. We went often back in the day. Now, several owners later, I would say the atmosphere and the service is still top notch. The quality of steaks is far inferior. I ordered a 12 oz ribeye and at least 4 oz was fat. It wasn't cooked to my specifications and there was nothing exceptional about it. I can buy a New York strip at Costco, reverse sear it, and pan finish in olive oil and butter and have a better taste than I got at Luke's, without 4 oz of fat. Greeted and sat by the manager who was very friendly. She sent over the server who was as equally friendly and helpful with the drinks and menu. Very patient as we navigated the menu. This is a great neighborhood steakhouse! We came in with no reservation, got sat right away. We shared a 10oz filet, Brussels sprouts, French onion soup, Caesar salad, and baked potato. Both of us were full and happy. The service was awesome, we didn't have to wait for anything. The manager checked on us to make sure we were happy with the food quality. Oh my. Luke's is not a restaurant you go and forget. You come back to Luke's. You also share Luke's to everyone who would listen to you. I did that and I'm still doing it. Even talked to my friends in Texas about this mother son team who bought this business from the third person who bought.... You get the idea. Jonathan and Pat. They started with the promise to keep the original owner Luke's desire to feed Denver with great steak at an affordable price. I really think they've already reached that point. When I was having dinner I've seen a steady parade of customers. Some Jonathan would greet by name while others he would acknowledge their presence. That kind of warm presence radiates towards his staff. What a lucky bunch to work with him. His GM Kerie who's a meat expert and some more is equally focused on giving: great service, dishes, an experience that will resonate well. I don't really mind that it's a strip mall. Would you rather be in a swanky place with mediocre food? Where they will be paying swanky type of rent. It's similar to being judged by its cover if. You're a book. So we had the Porterhouse for Two and their Burger. If you know me I will be aiming for the porterhouse and chase after the burger. Before that we had the Rhode Island Calamari for appetizer. I will get this again. Now on to the main course. The burger was absolutely yummy! Loaded and ready. But my heart belongs to the Porterhouse. Added a lobster tail for an additional $10 and I was livin' life. Just the way I like my meat. Dry- no sauce. To me sauces are choices. I don't need my meat covered in anything except salt and pepper and maybe garlic butter. Moist, tender. The veggies that accompanied the meat were cooked excellently. Crunchy and sweet. The lobster tail...fresh! For our imbibe portion. I had the Ginger Flower. It's Tito's Vodka base. Their cheesecake is to die for. Even the following day. The Porterhouse and the cheesecake are both worth fighting for. So if you haven't yet stop by and see what's the fuss? It's worth the drive. Besides it's not that far. But lucky Weathridge. We have been going to Luke's regularly for about a year now and I love it! It is a local place that really cares about what they do. It is my go-to place for a relatively healthy meal at a decent price, and I really like that they have seasonal items. The service is always great and I something that surprised me are their desserts. The best pumpkin cheesecake I have ever had and one of the best bread puddings I have ever had. Note to me, that's a great big thing when you walk into someplace and greeted immediately it gives you that great warm feeling of I'm gonna be treated nice throughout the whole entire visit whether you're in the store at a doctors office at a bar at a restaurant! In a word. Wow!!! I met up with a friend here both of us not knowing how we'd like this establishment stuck in a strip mall but from the outside to the inside it is very inviting and even the staff was very pleasant. The food was amazing about as good as I make it at home. I got bacon wrapped sirloin, mashed potatoes and green beans all foods I loved. I didn't even have to send the steak back to have them recook it as I normally do at steakhouses. The mashed potatoes were so creamy and the gravy tastes homemade and green beans were tasty. Over a week ago I made reservations to dine at Luke's on Thanksgiving Day. This evening I received an email notification informing me that my reservation had been canceled. What on earth? So I immediately called Luke's and asked the gal that answered what is going on? Why did my reservation get canceled? She simply stated that Luke's was going to be closed on Thanksgiving Day as well as the Friday that followed. No apology. No 'so sorry'. Well great for the staff. However, now I'm stuck looking for another place to dine on Thanksgiving Day which happens to be only two days away. Many of the other restaurants I considered dining at are already booked full. We were on time for our reservation for 6pm 11/25/23 for a table of 4. The restaurant had a wedding party in another room that was obviously using the kitchen and staff resources. We ate at 8pm, no bread given so we were all pretty tanked up. Other patrons were also over looked as well and the focus was on the wedding party. Went for dinner last night and I have been going to this place for a long time. The chicken was just thrown on the plate with no presentation and it was dried out and had no flavor. Tried Luke's for the first time tonight. And it was incredible. Being in a strip mall, I was worried until I pulled and they have it decorated very nicely outside and inside is even better. If you don't stop by you will not know what you are kissing. Location is in a strip mall but the food is a 5 star restaurant. The ribeye is seared and juicy that melts in your mouth. Salmon is juicy, garlic mash potatoes are amazing and the artichoke basil dip is one of a kind. The entire experience from Lisa the bartender to Carrie the manager the experience was just what a night out needed. Definitely wasn't at all what we expected. When you say you specialize in 'STEAKS', one would expect the best. My husband and I go to restaurants all the time just for the meat; well the ambiance does matter as well. I reserved a table for 2 for our Anniversary. I added in the 'special notes' that fact and whatever they could do would be greatly appreciated. We arrived and to our surprise we were extremely overdressed. I assumed that with the high pricing of the food that it would be a little upscale, but I was wrong. Shorts and t-shirts were the dress code here. I ignored that as we were led to our table. There was a large party across from us that was very loud and obnoxious. We don't mind casual talking but, we could not hear each other talk, very uncomfortable! We ordered and our server, a young man, was very good and we tipped him very well. It wasn't his fault it was noisy. We both ordered the Bacon Wrapped Filet, 6 oz, Pittsburgh style, (slightly burnt and crispy outside, rare and juicy inside). We waited a while for the steaks and were disappointed at best. My experience with filets is that they are usually very thick and extremely flavorful cuts of meat and well worth the price, usually. When the server came out with our plates, (@ $43 each), I almost wondered if he served us someone elses food. The servings were maybe 1" thick and maybe 3" round. The meat was suppose to be rare but was cooked to medium rare. At that point all I wanted to do was eat and leave. Noisy customers, small portions, couldnt have complained anyway, they wouldn't have heard us. Someone made a reference to ELWAY'S being not as good. Wow, never been there but I'll tell you that if excellent steak is what you want, guaranteed, at a reasonable price without the sports bar attitude, try MANNINGS, in Lakewood or THE KEG, at the MILLS, you wont regret it like we did LUKES. read more

So Luke's: It's like if Target operated a John Elway's steakhouse. A level up from Outback or Texas Roadhouse, and a level or two down from the Capital Grille. Closest competitor? Bastien's Steakhouse. They were very busy last night and we went in with a Groupon that offered a (no alc) meal for 2 for $39 that included a shared app (we had the ok Italian mussels); 2 entrees costing up to $30 each (had the $29 delicious 6 oz filets that came with grilled fresh asparagus and parmesan mashers); and a dessert (cherry chocolate cheesecake). Add to the paid amount another $30 for liquid lubrication, tax and a tip totaling $29 on the pre-discounted amount and you end up with a very good traditional steakhouse dinner for a little under $100 per couple. This is very much like the deal that's frequently offered at Bastien's, the most similar kind of operation where they serve well seasoned choice grade steaks at a lower than prime steakhouse rate. Loved our server who was really jammed and when she noticed we weren't getting water or something else she jumped on it, or at least sincerely apologized for the delay. Would I go back? In a Wheat Ridge minute. We used to really enjoy Luke's. It's been awhile (pre-COVID awhile) and I fortunately a toll has been on Lukes. We went out with another couple to celebrate some events. We waited 10 minutes after arriving for our reservation before we were even greeted. One at our table, the service was extremely slow. I know the restaurant industry has had a rough come back and some slowness was expected but this was extreme. The food quality was poor compared to what it was and certainly way off base to the price. I have to say we were very disappointed. read more
