We decided to stop into Luke's Lobster which is actually a large chain. It's a little small shop with tables and service is somewhat quick. We just wanted a snack, we shared the lobster trio and for a bowl of clam chowder. Our meal came with a drink, slaw, and a pickle. The sampler were small bites but good enough to taste. I came to Boston with the intention of trying a lobster roll and this place did not disappoint. I'm from Long Island NY, and usually lobster rolls at seafood restaurants cost in the neighborhood of $40, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that their 14 oz. roll was only $28. On the wall they also have the specific source of the day which is cool. Yesterday I had lobster from Port Hood, Canada. It came stuffed full of chilled lobster meat, soaked in lemony butter on a toasted buttery bun. I devoured the whole thing in like two minutes- it was heavenly!!! The meat was so sweet and decadent, and the spices they sprinkled on top complimented the whole sandwich perfectly. I was delighted to find that they have a few locations in New York City as well... didn't realize they'd spread out so much! The gluten free roll is the best GF bread I have ever eaten in the last 20yrs. The lobster bisque was also gluten free, which was a treat because usually there's flour in soups for thickening. The lobster meat was tender and delicious. Honestly, the flavours were very mild so I couldn't really taste the flavours. Still, I enjoyed the meal. This included a bag of chips and a drink for $42 US. Restaurant is small with limited seating and was quite busy around 5:30pm. I would consider this meal to be quite pricey since earlier in the day I had a delicious large lobster roll at James Cook & Co which was $40.99 that had almost double the amount of lobster meat but no chips or drink (see my review there). I would definitely prefer more lobster meat if both have the same sweet tender meat! read more

The roll is served cold by default, but if you prefer it hot, you can ask for that (for an extra $1). Semi-full on a Wednesday at 2 PM. The interior looks like a sandwich chain, but clean and warm. Prices were in line for what I was paying for lobster rolls elsewhere, and I felt like it was a good value. Service was friendly and efficient. I got the seafood roll flight (one mini 2 oz. roll each of shrimp, lobster, and crab) and loved each one. This ended up being my favorite lobster roll in Boston (though I confess I only tried 1 other spot) and I came back later in my trip for the lobster roll flight. The lobster both times was sweet and perfectly accented with drawn butter and Luke's seasoning (a celery salt mix that was like Old Bay with no paprika). The truffle and hot honey variations were also very good, but the classic is the classic for a reason. Not sure if their quality is the same at all their other locations nation- and worldwide, but at least here in Boston, they're an easy choice. read more

4 Stars honestly it's that good! Lobster Rolls is ultimately perfect when visiting Massachusetts to satisfy my cravings. Got the Warm Butter Roll and a bag of chips. They got this packed with meat, and everything tastes exactly as you would expect. The Lobster Roll was fresh and full of chunks of meat, and the bun was so buttery, such a nice treat. There were six in the group, all six of us wanted a NE Clam Chowder, unfortunately none of us got one as they were already sold out during the lunch hour. There were no leftovers, and this was a perfect size lunch before going ice skating and not having food coma. Everyone's food looked really good. We were all in the mood for Lobster Rolls, and for next time if I'm in town, will try to come in earlier for the clam chowder. They also have a restroom which was super clean and available for customers. When you purchase a drink, they tell you to grab one out of the fridge, if you don't like it bring it back and switch it out. These aren't fountain drinks either, these are bottled drinks! What an amazing concept!!! I ordered the trio on GLUTEN-FREE bread. I was amazed how such a small place with limited menu catered to gluten-free customers! Again, I was impressed! The overall quality of the seafood wasn't spectacular, but it was good for the price. A bit overseasoned for me. I'm not sure about parking since we stopped here after a walking tour. If the lobster roll here is a standard, then any lobster roll I've had anywhere outside of Boston is just not at all right. Their crab roll was even better, but the name of the place is Luke's Lobster. The clam chowder is excellent, service is friendly and prompt. Prices are a tad high so be mentally prepared for it, and the only diet drink they have besides water is Diet Coke. The lobster bisque looked and smelled so good I was tempted to steal it from the woman near me but I thought that might start an incident. Still, I thought about it more than a little.
