First time is Boston so I figured let me check the lobster roll and clam chowder off my list. Although there are many places and other cuisines to choose from, something about this spot caught my eye in the Faneuil Hall Market. This place is in food hall, so you will need to find a place to sit or stand to eat. The line was long, which is a good sign but the service was quick. The price is steep ($40) but it looks like this is the price everywhere in Boston. The roll was filled with lobster chunks, I didn't feel swindled. The clam chowder was also very tasty. Stopped by Wicked Lobsta during a trip for Red Sox Opening Day with a friend who needed the full Boston experience and that obviously means a proper lobster roll. Lobster rolls are a must when in Boston. I like coming to Quincy market and exploring the different shops. This visit I chose wicked lobsta because he stopped us and had us try the clam chowder. My youngest loves clam chowder and the taste of the sample was so delicious we wanted more. I ended up getting the seafood sampler special that came with 4 lobster rolls (lobster, mixed seafood, seafood salad and crab) 2 clam chowders and 2 drinks. For $49.99 this was definitely a deal for Boston. As we waited for our order we walked around to see what other ships were nearby and to my surprise he came out and walked our order to us! The soup was the New England Clam Chowda. It had good flavor, but was thinner than expected. The lobster roll was just okay. The bread was crispy on the top but very soggy on the bottom from the butter. The lobster was slightly sweet, but the texture was off. Some pieces were cooked well while others were rubbery. Overall, giving Wicked Lobsta a 3.5/5. Food is good but inconsistent. Our meals were very pricey for what we got. Service was good. Food came out quickly and staff were nice. Came back here after about 4 years away. I remembered how much I loved it last time. This time I went for lobster pie. Honestly it was really good. I definitely devoured it. I remember the lobster roll being a better choice. This didn't seem as special as that was. Plus prices have nearly doubled since my last trip here which is certainly more indicative of the economy. Having not visited Quincy Market in probably close to 20 years, it was on my list to do so when I returned to Boston for a staff retreat and was staying nearby. Their lobster rolls are spot on there as I enjoyed their Traditional Maine Lobster Roll stood against the wall across from the counter where I ordered. There's something earnest about finding a nook away from walking traffic and just noshing away at a glorious lobster roll, savoring the lobster crab and tail meat combined with the mayo and seasonings. Price-wise is on point with what I saw at the other vendors selling lobster rolls, and I felt the portion size was best here. They do have a one-pound lobster roll (yes, one pound of pure lobster meat) for about $90 before state tax, but at that point, you might as well order some lobster bisque or lobster pie with a traditional roll if you want to have your fix. read more

Touristy AF, but since I was a tourist, it was on point. Conveniently located in the heart of historic Faneuil Hall, it was a perfect way to round out my day of sightseeing and shopping. The business was fast and bustling on Friday near lunch time, but the line moved quickly and my food came out pretty quickly. It's a walk up counter, then you take your food to go to enjoy in the food court tables or from one of the benches outside while listening to busker music. I had the lobster Mac which of course was delicious. Pretty decent amount of lobster and nice creamy buttery pasta. It was a generous portion that I couldn't even finish. It also came with a slice of garlic bread which I was way too full to eat, but that the pigeons enjoyed after a seagull pulled it out of the trashcan for them. Now, I've had a lot of lobster bisque in my time; I also live in Baltimore so I am used to the prices of seafood, and these prices are high even by usual standards. I recently had the best lobster roll of my life for $38 in Baltimore, at an expensive and fancy restaurant. Charging $40 from a food hall stand in a city where lobster is supposedly local is criminal. Anyway, back to the bisque. It was the blandest, most tasteless soup I've ever had. Extremely disappointing. They did have a lot of lobster meat in it, that was good. But it didn't taste particularly fresh. This bisque was like if you just placed pre-cooked lobster pieces in hot cream. There was no taste, no salt, no seasoning at all. I kept piling oyster crackers in because they were ADDING flavor. Imagine oyster crackers having more flavor than the soup. It was dismal. So disappointing. Never again. And I sincerely hope I save a few people from a $20 mistake. Also the spoon was terrible. These are pretty petite. Third, quality. Lobster is overcooked, a little rubbery, and slathered in so much mayo you can't even taste it. It could have been chicken and, blindfolded, we wouldn't have been able to tell. They were looking for a sucker, and, sad to say, they found one in me. For a flair of Boston, we chose the lobster mac and cheese. When we ordered this, it came with a free slice of bread, which was really nice to have when scooping up the rest of the mac and cheese. The macaroni was cooked just right, nice and tender and not overcooked. I also loved how there was a generous amount of lobster in the mac and cheese, but it wasn't torn into little pieces -- that I did myself. It did looks fancy to see large lobster chunks in the bowl of mac and cheese, but in terms of eating it required a little cutting with the plastic spoon and fork combination. In terms of flavor, the mac and cheese tasted like a mac and cheese. No seafood taste, which was a good thing for some of my family members, who do not like seafood, but it also didn't taste like it had a lobster flavor. However, this is not something I should say because I also haven't eaten many lobsters, so I don't know what the best lobster tastes like.
