Don't let the appearance fool you it was not as good as it looked

At first the place appealed to me because they had seating and the same price as all the other lobster roll places. $40 for lobster roll, clam chowder, and a drink. The lobster roll was not a hit. The lobster meat itself was dry and had a funny texture. The bread is soaked in cheap butter and absolutely no flavor. It was just a big no for me. The clam chowder was also not good. It tasted like frozen clam chowder, especially after having a really nice clam chowder at dinner the prior night this one compared to that one would get one out of 10. Best thing I had here was the beer.

Faneuil Hall marketplace is a lot of fun and this spot is hopping all the time. My daughter wanted a cold lobster roll and got one, The people were very nice, helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are good great place to people watch

Located in Quincy Market, this oyster bar is your chance to try lobster roll or other seafood if you are a seafood lover like me. I was interested in trying the lobster roll. The friendly older staff greeted and offered me to try the chowder. I liked his service and decided to stay. What a great choice I made. The lobster roll with butter was on point. Tasty and fresh. Even bun was toasted and flavored with high quality butter. The saying of "everything tastes better with butter" is correct. Nice people working there who knew how to make lobster right and took pride in their work. Price is not cheap but it's worth it if you want to try Boston lobster. Recommend it.

I stopped by for a quick bite during my visit to Quincy Market, and it turned out to be the perfect spot to unwind with a warm cup of clam chowder. My partner and I shared a lobster roll paired with the chowder, and both were fantastic. The lobster roll was incredibly juicy and tender, served on perfectly toasted bread, while the clam chowder was just the right temperature--an ideal complement to the chilly weather. Although there's minimal bar seating, there are plenty of spots in and around the market to enjoy your meal. Our order was ready in less than five minutes, and the service was both friendly and efficient.

They are the most welcoming bunch. My friends were here from Texas. He was being so kind.

I love it here. They have the best clam chowder. They do lobster rolls, lobster tail, have wine and beer. The service is amazing. Love the guys that work there. It's dead center in Quincy Market. You have to go and try for yourself and tell the guys I said hi.

Loved the hot butter lobster roll! The oysters (from Canada) were super fresh as well. Very friendly people working at the bar. Would definitely revisit next time in Boston.

It is a favorite stall inside the Quincy market. Why? Aside from its tasteful chowders, sandwiches, rolls and any seafood delight , this is the only stall that has accessible stools and table on site. Why go to the common table/ chairs spot in the middle of the hall carrying your food where on this place, you'll be conveniently eat right away. The seats even has hook for your handbag. A bit pricy but worth it. A beautiful experience in town so come and stop by when you are around.

My friend and I made a point to try as many hot buttered lobster rolls in Quincy Market as we could during our trip. I had the combo! June 2023, hot buttered lobster roll, can of pop, and a (very full) cup of lobster bisque was $38! AMAZING price for all that food! This was my favorite roll in Quincy Market. Bun was great, the lobster was nice chunks and the serving was generous. The bisque was buttery and silky. It was unseasonably cold, so soup in a chilly day was welcome! Best roll combo in Quincy Market!

What a cool experience to sit right at the bar in Faneuil Hall Marketplace and enjoy my first lobster roll in Boston! The lobster was warm, buttery, and super fresh. I've had lobster before that smelled fishy, but this just smelled incredible. The server prepared our food in less than 5 minutes, so you can definitely come here for a quick bit if you're short on time. The lobster bisque was a great add-on and really balanced the savory flavor of the lobster roll by providing a little bit of season and zest. Would 100% recommend sitting at the bar and getting some fresh oysters too!

Pretty average stuff. Love the location, and service was fine, just not getting those flavors I know are in there. Lobster I think may have been over cooked a bit. Maybe new methods? I love the Alice and Wonderland reference! The Walrus and the Carpenter, that's fun!

They have a pretty good deal if you want a lobster roll and clam chowder! Grab a corona, stay awhile. The employees don't bite

On our last day in Boston, I ordered a cup of chowder from The Oyster Bar and took it outside to enjoy. The chowder was great! I actually felt I got quite a bit for the "cup" size and it was worth the price. The chowder itself was flavorful and loaded with all the yummy add-ins. I'd order again, and get a bowl next time! Service was friendly despite being busy and my food was ready quickly. The restaurant itself is located in Quincy Hall, so the vibe is a little chaotic and there's not a lot of seating. I'd recommend taking your meal upstairs or, weather permitting, outside to enjoy.

Food was okay. Service was bar style. The ambience, its market hall, so you expected is noisy. But it's cheaper than lots of lobsters roll I had.

From start to finish, we had an amazing experience here. We ate here on Sunday. They open at 11:30am. We got in line around 11:00 am, and there were already dozens of people waiting in line for them to open . Around opening time, the owner came out and personally greeted everyone as they came into the restaurant. He was so friendly. He greeted passers-by on the street and talked with the locals. The staff was friendly and answered all our questions. They provided recommendations and offered suggestions. We sat at a window table and were able to see out at the boats. It was cute and quaint inside! I got a cup of the clam chowder. I 100% recommend it! They add dill and omit the pork, which made it so delicious! My friend and I split the fish and chips, and it was more than enough for two people. The fish was cooked perfectly and the fries (chips) were crispy without being too crunchy. We added a bit of pepper to our fish, and my goodness does that make a difference. If you visit Boston, want an awesome local establishment with delicious food and overly friendly staff, this is the place for you. The following rainy Tuesday, we tried again and were able to get seated immediately, next to a window overseeing the water. I had the seafood platter and a cup of chowder. My wife had whole lobster for $40. TONS of delicious food. Four days prior, Union Oyster House had whole lobster for about twice the cost. All of the food was delicious. Boston Sail Loft was a great send-off restaurant to end our Boston trip. Thanks again to our new friends from Boston for the recommendation. Our server gave me useful info on the local beers. The platter had a delicious mix of scallops, shrimp, clams and fish. The chowder has a lot of dill in it, but wow...it's the best chowder I had on my trip. My wife loved her large lobster...tons of meat.

Unless you wanna wait an hour or so, it's best to arrive 30min before they open to beat the rush. It's incredibly cramped and rushed inside, and you may need to share a table with others if you're a smaller party. Food is quite pricey but well worth it. We ordered the oysters (they've got a variety so you can choose), clam chowder, lobster roll, cioppino, and johnnycake. Oysters were fine, but the clam chowder was absolutely dismal. Not sure what happened, especially since it's so highly rated, but it was extremely watery and almost completely unseasoned. It could've definitely used salt at the very least. If I didn't know it was from Neptune, I'd have given it a 2/10. To my relief, the lobster roll was the total opposite. Succulent, juicy, heavenly. It was like being in Maine. The cioppino was also very good. The Johnnycake was an interesting but fun way to end the meal. It's a sweet pancake-like cornmeal covered in a syrupy glaze and topped with smoked bluefish paste, crème fraiche and caviar. I've never had anything like it. Nothing was super overpriced, but I personally prefer next door (Paulini's), which is much cheaper and while it isn't as good, it also doesn't require waiting in an hour in line. However, I think Neptune's is definitely worth a try as long as you're willing to wait in line.

The sauce was very buttery/oily but lacked depth in flavor imo. It was greasy, mushy and bland at the same time. Octopus itself was pretty good. Lobster pasta: enjoyable overall but the lobster tasted rubbery/overcooked. It might be better if they just toss the lobsters in towards the end instead of cooking it so much. The lobster meat portion was very generous. Overall, I was not disappointed, but also I wasn't super impressed.

Getting a reservation wasn't difficult, just make sure you get it a few days in advance. Everything here was amazing. Patio, food, drinks, service- no notes. We got the calamari meatballs as our appetizer. I don't like meatballs but I made an exception here...the ricotta is SO light and tastes so fresh. It went so well with the meatballs. The sauce was pretty complex flavor wise and was a delight to have. The meatballs were also delicious and we loved how everything went so well together. After we finished our appetizer, we were brought bread which we used to sop up the rest of the sauce. It was delicious. For our entrees, we got the swordfish and the aglio olio with scallops. Wow. This was my first time trying swordfish, but it was delicious and however they cooked broccoli rabe made me actually like it! It was so good. The aglio olio...tastes even better than it looks. SO good and such a massive portion. I got to ball out on leftovers the next day. The scallops were perfectly seared and went so welll with the pasta. It was so fun have calamari and garlic bits in the pasta...the calamari in it was truly unique. Thinking about this dinner is making my mouth water and making me hungry. Our waiter was great and attentive to us, everyone was having a good time and it was a really nice vibe on the patio. I'll definitely be back!

For over $100, you would expect the lobster fra diavolo to be fresh, but it was a huge let down. Severely overcooked and tough, but worst of all, not fresh! It stank of sulfur and tasted bitter which raises concerns about food safety. The other components of the dish were equally underwhelming--overcooked shrimp, tiny mussels and clams, and way-too-thin sauce. The calamari was the best part of the dish. The side of bread didn't taste fresh baked, and the Caesar salad was basic. I am giving stars based solely on location, service, and concept. The plating was beautiful and the vibe was romantic, but sadly the food fell majorly flat.
