Myself and two friends visited. We enjoyed the tasting and bought a number of bottles to take home. Two of the Fashionably Late Sauvignon were bad and one of the Le Cirque ($50) bottles was bad. I visited yesterday and was told they would not make up for the spoiled bottles unless I had the actual bottles. I was very disappointed in their unwillingness to replace the spoiled bottles. I will not return or recommend this winery. read more

I totally agree with the review of Micsha B. down below - the wines were okay, the mother/owner was sweet as pie, the white merlot was a high point and the sweet dessert white wine was excellent. The property is beautiful with a amazon views and a nice little patio. However, besides only enjoying 3/7 of the wines tasted, the son of the owner (he is the actual wine maker) was somewhat abrasive and quirky/inquisitive in a bordering-on-insulting way. I'm confused by the positive reviews I have read about this winery. The server did tell us a bit about each wine, which we enjoyed and the view was lovely but I'm afraid the positive comments end there. We were told that we couldn't use more glasses (we were sharing a tasting) because it was 'too labor intensive for her'...ummmm....really?!? One of the white wines (Sauvignon Blanc?) was horrendous! It was the color of apple juice and was worse than the stuff I drank when I was homeless (kidding). To our dismay, after fighting who would 'get' to finish it-we learned the sparkling wine was made with the same paint thinner. My only regret is that I didn't just tell her how vile it was rather than finishing the tasting (they Really need spit buckets). read more

Fell in love with this place!! Made a wrong turn and out of impulse (and I like for the sign) we decided to turn up towards Lumiere and check it out. When we arrived, the small setting and beautiful views were really intriguing, but the hospitality that we received was unforgettable. The owner greeted us with a warm welcome and we were helped immediately. Loved hearing the history of the winery and that it was still family owned and operated! We got the premium wine tastings which were delicious and full of variety! The free homemade bread that came paired with our wines was also delicious and definitely hit the spot! The server, who was the mother of the wine maker, was very nice and informative and obviously had a passion for wine and telling others about it. This place was fantastic! My husband and I were celebrating our 13th anniversary and wanted to explore more boutique -style wineries. We saw reviews for this one and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. We were greeted warmly by Martha, whose son runs the vineyard, and got a lot of the back story on the development of the business and the making of each wine we tasted. We picked a table outside and partially shaded, and Enjoyed an amazing view overlooking the hills and vines. Martha brought out our tastings at a leisurely pace so we could enjoy the experience and not feel rushed. We also enjoyed a charcuterie board with bread that the newly hired chef had just baked that morning. The prices were probably a lot lower than they could charge, Martha adding that they wanted to keep it affordable for everyone to enjoy good wine. $10-15 for tastings and between 5-9 tastes. The charcuterie board was $12 and the bottles I believe started at $17 and went up from there. For our palates we really enjoyed more of the bolder flavored red wines but the the dessert wines were also surprisingly good and not as surgery as is typical. Overall, was a wonderful wine tasting experience similar to what you would find in Tuscan family-run vineyard. This was like finding Temecula's best kept secret! read more

We really enjoyed our flight at this lovely family winery. Martha was welcoming, gracious and shared interesting stories and pics of the wine making processes. Let me start by saying that I'm NOT a wine expert by any stretch of the imagination, so my review here is based primarily on the experience I had at Lumiere, as well as the conversations I had with Martha (one of the owners) and Kyle (the young man who poured drinks for us). The history of Lumiere goes back to the 1980's, when there really wasn't a Temecula or Murrieta. (The population of Temecula in 1980 was 4300!) Today, there are close to 50 wineries here in Temecula, ranging from the huge South Coast Winery Resort and Spa to much smaller operations like Lumiere. With the smaller wineries, I tend to find that you get more personalized service, and can enjoy your wine in a more relaxed setting. The tasting room at Lumiere has outdoor seating overlooking the vineyards that surround the property and our party spent over an hour tasting wine and enjoying a beautiful sunset. (One more benefit of a small winery? The parking area is so small you don't have to worry about where you left your car!) read more

When you tire of the crush of the crowds and impersonal treatment at the neighboring big-name wineries, Lumiere will be there with personal attention and a peaceful place to relax and enjoy some of the valley's finest. Searching for a winery that would allow picnicking, we discovered Lumiere and wrote to inquire about this. Winemaker/owner Andrew responded quickly with a warm invitation. We arrived to find a linen-covered table set up for us with panoramic views of the valley. Fitting of Lumiere's gracious welcome, we celebrated our meal with Voulez Vous- their delicious sparkling Sauvignon Blanc. Owner Martha was very attentive and took great care of us. I must say that their customer service is quite exceptional. We stopped by and it was pretty busy. But they accommodated our wine tasting very quickly, and the approach was very personal and welcoming. Their wine was good and I really liked their sparkling wine. The girl that works there saw us taking pictures outside (the views are phenomenal there!) and asked us if we wanted her to take a picture of us, which was really nice. What a fantastic winery! Besides having a great selection and very good wines (Late-harvest 2006 Sauvignon Blanc, for the win!), the people are awesome. I was enjoying the views with a friend, when Martha (the owner) came over to say hi. She is the definition of a people person! We left the winery feeling like we were just at a friend's place. Great wine tasting experience! $15 for 7 tastes (you get to keep your wine class) and great family owned winery. Martha and Andrew were really friendly and stayed late after they were closed to talk with us and other wine tasters. It speaks volumes when you have patrons that come every week and buy cases of their wines. I really liked the white merlot, romantic fantasy, cabernet sauvignon, sauvignon blanc, and vouleq vou brut. Very low key winery up on a hill. When I visited on a Saturday in December there were only 2 other people there. We sat outside and the server would come out and serve us each round of tasting. I did the premium wine tasting for $15. They were out of one of the wines, so they gave me one of the wines off the more expensive reserve list, which was delicious. I'm not a wine snob, but do wish I had gone with the reserve wine tasting. You can really tell the difference! They had a little dog that greeted us, which was so cute. Awesome little family O&O'ed winery. Martha was excellent at taking care of us, even though we walked in 15 minutes before closing. She had great knowledge of their wines and is wise on the process of wine making. I am pleasantly surprised by their estate merlot because I am not a fan of merlots. I am also not a fan of sweet wines but I really enjoyed their late harvest sauvignon blanc. A very unique wine that's not overly sweet, but complex in flavors and medium bodied. They did not feature many of my favorite varietals, but what they do have is worth trying. I will definitely come back and recommend to people. read more
