I'm really surprised Luna Blu has mediocre reviews on yelp, so I'm here to leave a positive one. I am from Oxford and used to go here all the time. I recently returned for a nail appointment with my future SIL and had a great experience that proved to me they haven't gone downhill since I moved away. Natalie and Hillary did our nails and they were chatty, friendly, and our nails looked great. Hillary in particular was a laugh riot and both girls treated us like family and the appointment went by too quickly. I also thought it was pretty affordable and loved the pedicure area with built in tubs. I am not sure what the other services are like at Luna Blu in 2021, but I highly recommend them for a nail appointment!! read more

I loved the ambiance of this salon & my hairdresser was very nice and chatty! She gave me a haircut I really like and it wasn't that pricey. She also showed me some good products to buy and seemed to know exactly what she was talking about. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 stars is because the salon chairs were not 6ft away from each other so there was practically no social distancing between other clients and hairdressers. read more

When I made the appointment at Luna Blu, I explained my hair style to the receptionist and asked for her to recommend a stylist for me. Upon arriving, I waited twenty minutes past my reservation and listened to the receptionist chat on the phone planning her night out. Unprofessional, but that wasn't the end of it. After the stylist was finally ready, I explained I only wanted an inch of my hair cut off. I EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO THE TEE. I am very particular about my hair and with the level of detail I give to stylists, there is never a problem. She could not get it right! After nearly 3 inches of my hair was cut off, I was pissed to say the least. The haircut took way too long, was not what I wanted, and was not worth the money I was charged. I will never go back! The receptionist was nice, but my hair dresser,-Lori, was unfriendly and did not seem to be happy to be there. My hair was cut horribly, just straight across in choppy sections. Also, my hair color faded within a week and you can't even tell I got my roots done and highlights touched up. I have naturally curly hair and I did not have time to get it dried and styled so she put product in it which just made it frizzy and poofy. I would not go back to this salon especially not with Lori. I paid $92 for my services and I regret going to this salon. read more

I have been to Luna Blu three times throughout my four years at Miami University. The first time I went, I received an "only okay" color/cut, but I paid more than what is reasonable for the sub-par service. The hairstylist I had was not very friendly and don't make much conversation with me. Instead, she talked with the other hairstylist (who barely said a word to her client as well) about planning out the bachelorette party that she was going to that night. Very unprofessional. The second time I went, I had an eyebrow wax. They did a great job and I was satisfied. Again, the stylist did not have much to say to me, but it was about a 10 minute service so it wasn't so awkward. My last experience is what really sealed the deal to where I will never go there again. I had to attend my brother's wedding, so I decided to get an axxium manicure to ensure that my nails would not chip. The manicure chipped less than 12 hours later, when it is supposed to last up to 2 weeks without chipping. I went back before catching a flight to california and they fixed it. Thoughout the weekend, I had four more nails chip, forcing me to pay for a repair at another salon in California. When I went to get the polish taken off (mind you, less than a week after I had it put on--a regular manicure's polish would have lasted A LOT longer), the consultants were more concerned as to why it chipped; almost insinuating that I had done something to cause it. At that point, I had wanted my money back. In short, their customer service is TERRIBLE. If the salon wants to claim that it is high-end, their attitudes and customer service needs to reflect that. I have been to plenty of high-end salons in my day, and I have never ever had such a consistently bad experience. When I brought their poor customer service to their attention, they obviously did not take my recommendation. Just read the other Yelp and Google reviews and see for yourself. I'm decently experienced with salons specifically for hair services, massages, facials, and pedicures. I have had all but the massage at Luna Blu and am currently scheduled for one for this Saturday. I've had Vicki for a pedicure and facial and both were absolutely excellent. I've had two of the hair stylists and both were amazing!! Hair: They did exactly what I wanted and needed. I'm very weird about my hair and made that very clear to both. I only wanted an inch cut off and that's all they did! This was on both occasions. One of those times I did the warm oil scalp massage and it was totally worth it. Go for the 30 minute not 15!! Pedicure: I was a walk in for a classic pedicure. It was wonderful. It included a foot massage and the best treatment. Facial: I was also a walk in for this service and they did an awesome job!! Vicki sat me down and talked to me about what I needed and my personal skin. This IS an aveda salon. They use Aveda and Aveda approved products only! I don't know why anyone is saying that their products should be higher end. This is exactly what aveda should look like and be. They also use bumble and bumble which is an aveda approved product. I have gone to one other aveda salon and the pricing and service is the same at both. I can say that paying can be irritating but remember this is a small salon serving a very large community. They have two waiting areas. There is one special for hair in the back and other services wait in the front. I did not find the water pitcher or anything for that matter to be dirty. They have excellent customer service and they definitely talk to you if you'd like to talk. But because this is a high end salon they understand some people just like to sit and relax and not talk at all. read more

I have only gotten hair services at Luna Blu, but my experiences have always been good. I went to multiple stylists here, but have had most of my haircuts/colorings from Bobbi Jo, who is fantastic. I have quite curly hair and it can be a challenge to cut, particularly since I always want it to also look good on the rare days that I decide to straighten it. I have never gotten a bad haircut here. When I have come in with specific instructions, she has done what I wanted and when I have just come in and said "oh I don't know, make it look good," she has done just that! Every time I have arrived I have been greeted by the receptionist and asked if I wanted anything to drink and most of the time I was serviced on time. The few times that I had to wait it was always because they were very busy, so the stylist was running behind and it was never a long enough wait that it was a problem. While this salon is a little on the expensive side, I find it has been worth every penny! read more

I've had my hair done here twice and to be honest the first time was 'eh' and the second time was 'facepalm'! The first time I went to Luna Blu I had a nice hairdresser who talked to me and was engaging. She did an okay job, not the best for the price I paid though. ( you have to pay and schedule to have your hair dried... what?!) I decided to give them another chance and went back to get my hair colored. This time I had a hairdresser who was not very friendly. She said little than a few sentence to me. I had the feeling that I was inconveniencing her ( even though I had booked this appointment a month in advance) She also double booked and left me with color on my hair while she went to cut someone else's! The red color that I was getting turned into a purplish color! Needless to say, I was disappointed with my second trip. Well, I haven't had my service yet, but the receptionist was very rude. I asked if the salon is open on Sundays, and instead of answering my question she very snippily asked if I could call back when I know my schedule. I said, no if the salon isn't open on Sunday then I'd like to make an appointment for Monday and her response was a scoff. Needless to say I'm not excited to go in on Monday. Walked in and asked about a waxing and nail color change, was told it would be no problem. After the receptionist flipped thru the appointment book for ten minutes, she told us there was just no way to fit us in. She never once left the counter to check with any of the staff to see if they had an opening. A waxing takes 5 minutes, and a nail color change not more than 10 minutes. Last time I ever go there. If you don't have an appointment, don't bother. Turning away customers is just bad business. read more

What Luna Blu in Oxford, OH is all about: The staff is friendly, the ambiance is nice, but the talent is lacking in the hair stylists. Everyone who I've talked to had a similar experience as I did. They don't seem to listen to what the customers want. I've received about 5 hair cuts from there. Every time I come out unsatisfied. And they rack up the price unbelievably high. They added in extra product to my hair without telling me then charged me more for it! I explained the exactly layering & length that I wanted and it wasn't even close. Summary - DO NOT GO TO LUNA BLU IN OXFORD! There are better places that can be found in Oxford. Luna Blue charges too much for sub par quality. read more

When you go to a place such as Luna Blu, pricy as it is, the most you ask for is to be treated as though your time matters. My hair dresser was intensely hard to communicate with. She was cold and took a long time to even attempt to small talk with me which was entirely uncomfortable. I had three pictures with me to help explain what i was going for. She stated it would take multiple lightening to help get to the goal, but continually acted as if I was ridiculous. She then preceded to wash my hair with cold water while she yanked and pulled extremely hard. She apologized for yanking at my head, but didn't change the way she went about it. When she cut my hair she didn't ask to re-see the reference picture, but instead made assumptions. She didn't cut it high enough resulting in the hair not sitting correctly. During my foil she was helping cut a mans hair, which would be acceptable, but she didn't give me a lamp to help my hair process! In the picture it is curled so you can see the hair sitting a certain way. She roughly blew dry my hair, smacking my head with the brush and fumbling through combing and styling. Afterwards she did not anticipate that I would state I didn't like how she styled it. She coldly stated everyone styles things differently, which I indeed understand I had just hoped she would consider giving it a bit of curl so we would see if it could sit where it was supposed too. I don't believe she intended to be rude, but I've never had a hair designer treat me like that. When conversing about how it really didn't lighten she continually stated she didn't have time and acted as if I don't understand these things instead of taking basic steps (such as the lamp) to help the process. One of the other girls at the shop was getting married and she was taking time to take pictures and be with her as well as her other clients. I didn't mind any of that as long as she acted like my time was appreciated or valued. She kept stating that I could just come back and she'd keep working on my hair later. This is not an option for me, I came to get my hair done with gift cards from my wedding. I went home with my head hurting from being tossed around and deeply sad that my experience had gone so south. Other customers looked shocked at some of the statements she was retorting to me. I don't think she understood how I or the people around her were perceiving her actions. read more

I went to Luna Blue Salon with what I thought was a fairly simple request, however it turned out to be quite a fiasco. I showed my stylist a picture of what I wanted done and she assured me, with confidence, that she could easily do it for me. However, the results were horrific. The stylist acted as though there was absolutely nothing wrong with my hair, even though it was the antithesis of what I requested. After an unnecessarily uncomfortable conversation with the stylist, she agreed to redo it. And again, it turned out in a confusingly bad state. This salon will fool you, but in reality it is quite frankly overpriced and very low quality. It is a faux high end salon. At first glance, it seems ok but on closer examination one will see that there are a myriad of issues with it. The salon is so dark inside and poorly lit it is almost laughable. The water they offer customers is stagnant and comes from a shockingly dirty pitcher. The hair products they use are subpar, and given their prices one would expect more high end brands. They are constantly "booked" even though it is almost always empty. You will end up waiting for your appointment, and there is only one chair so you better hope you get it. The receptionist is constantly on the phone so you will be waiting at the register attempting to pay for an awkwardly long time. read more

I went here to get an updo for a wedding & the salon was chosen by the bride. I will say I was happy with my updo, but the whole experience was just unpleasant. We arrived 15 minutes early for our appointments as instructed. Not sure where we were supposed to wait as there's only one chair in the waiting area. I checked in with the receptionist & was told my stylist would be right with me. After ten minutes of waiting, I asked what the hold up was. I was told all the stylists were in a meeting talking about numbers. Finally after twenty minutes of waiting, my stylist came to greet me and seated me as far away from the rest of my party as possible. Maybe this was her station, I don't know, but the salon was completely empty. She did move me closer to the rest of them after I asked though. We were in sort of a hurry with a 1pm wedding & this was made very clear to the stylists. My hair took 70 minutes (10 minutes longer than the length of the appointment) & I was the first one finished. My mother & the bride had previously had hair trials & theirs took even longer than mine. Trying to pay was just as frustrating as waiting for the stylists to arrive. The receptionist was on the phone with a client whose hair had turned blue (actually an impt call), but this call went on for ten minutes. The receptionist easily could have processed my payment while on the phone or gotten one of the two stylists wandering the salon to talk to this client. This salon seriously needs to work on time management, build a waiting area or at least add a few more chairs, and get a new receptionist. read more

Treated my daughter and daughter-in-law to a day of "girly stuff" on very short notice last weekend. The Luna Blu staff were great about accommodating us on short notice and graciously put up with our foolishness. Hair cuts and styles, manicures and pedicures were all great. I must say for all the hype about this salon, my experience was terrible. My mom had gotten me a gift card for $80 to get some highlights and eyebrows waxed. When I finally got to my stylist she was extremely quiet. Every time I tried to make conversation she answered with one word. I like to chat while getting my hair done, and considering it took 3 hours to do highlights, I was dying for some conversation when I left there. When she finally finished she asked if I wanted it blow dried, obviously I did? This is the first salon I have ever been charged $15 to get my hair blow dried... When it was all finished it look exactly the same as it did when I walked it... Overall not happy with my experience and will not be going back to pay $115 to get my hair blow dried and highlighted. read more

I have been to several nail salons that I would never return to but I can highly recommend the ladies that have served me so far at Luna Blu. They were talented, friendly and very courteous. The back massage that I had was wonderful and very soothing. I wish the room was a little bit warmer as I had chills when my skin was exposed but I felt very comfortable and relaxed. Hillary catered towards my problem areas and was very friendly. Even though the service was pricy, it was worth it. However, the front receptionist quickly broke this relaxed feeling as she was extremely unwelcoming, unapproachable, and impatient. Didn't bother to ask me about my service, didn't offer to provide any additional information and simply stared at me waiting for me to leave. I do not look forward to coming again and paying so much if that is going to be my end experience to my visit. read more

No one acknowledged my presence when I walked in and stood at the desk on time for my appointment, where two members of staff totally ignored me. The salon was empty. There was no reason I should have been kept waiting, and definitely no reason I should have been so rudely ignored. Finally, the stylist flashed an irritated scowl with, "I'll be with you in a minute!" I waited. Nothing. Then came, "D'you wanna drink?" I said, "Coffee, please." Nothing.
