my stylist grace did an okay job on my hair. it wasnt what i wanted at all, she told me that what i wanted wasnt what i wanted if that made sense. im NOT pleased with my hair at all, i couldnt see the colors i was choosing i was told i couldnt do pink because i wouldnt lift light enough but ive done pink and was able to be light enough before. she left multiple blonde pieces in my hair like big enough to see. the black in my hair faded out to brown in 3 washes. i went in for a consultation to get black blue and purple CHUNKY highlights, she understood what i was saying and could do it till she was actually doing my hair and again said thats not what i wanted, by the end of it i had black hair with blue and purple tiny highlights throughout my hair with random blonde spots. it was not worth almost 400 dollars and sitting in a chair for 8+ hours. i will not be returning, but my friend whos went there highly recommends erin. read more

Sat I get a call from a man at the salon telling me again about the policy. I've only canceled anything twice in a yr. Is this the 3rd grade? Really!! If you need a hair stylist/colorist, you need to go to Lauren Meister! I have been going to her for over a year now and she has the most wonderful personality and is the best person I have ever had work on my hair. I am a natural brunette and she has taken me to a beautiful blonde balayage back to a deep chocolatey brown and every time, it looks incredible. When I bring in pictures, she is transparent about what is realistic but is very good at getting it as close as possible considering past color treatments and hair texture. I really trust her to make my hair look fantastic and at this point, I just give her a general idea of what I want and tell her to do what she thinks will look best. She also has a wonderful personality and is a joy to talk to during the appointment. It looks like the Village Spa has a wide variety of offerings and because I came here to have Lauren as my stylist, I am definitely going to be checking out their facials and massages. The ambiance is really cool too because the property used to be a house so it is nice and cozy as well. read more

Monday is a bad day to be a culture vulture in Dayton, apparently. Everything was closed. So, with a few hours to go still before I needed to be at the airport for a flight, my mine dawned on relaxation. Oddly enough, the first spa we went to was closed on Monday. (What is this conspiracy? Just add Monday to the weekend, Ohioans!) We then came to Village Spa, located in a charming house in the heart of old West Chester. One minute you're on I-75, next minute you're in a small town, getting spa services in a house remodeled as salon. But seriously, from how the streets and town looked, you could have been in small-town Anywhere, USA. Alicia - the gal who did my manicure/pedicure (I did rock/paper/scissors with my business colleague about who would get the massage and who would get the nail services. His Rock smashed my Scissors) did a great job. She happened to be very pretty (sorry guys, she's engaged!), which always makes an hour go by quickly, but she also totally knew what she was doing, and definitely helped me relax and enjoy the waning hours of my visit to Ohio. If I'm around, I'll be back. If you're around, you should go. And ask for her. read more

I've been a client of the Village Spa since I moved to Cincinnati about two years ago. I've always been super happy with them in every way- but today they really took it to the next level. I went in to see my usual stylist (Ashley) and I asked her to dramatically color my hair. She did exactly what I wanted- but I freaked out! It was so different and I just wasn't crazy about it (my wedding is in 3 months, so it was kind of a big deal). I left the salon and after thinking about it for a while, I called back to schedule an appointment to undo what we had done. Instead of having me make an appointment, she invited me back immediately to start working on it, so I turned around and headed back to the salon. A few hours later: I am totally happy. Even though it was my mistake asking for such a dramatic change, she fixed it free of charge and was SO nice and cool about it. I felt terrible asking her to change it but she totally put my mind at ease and assured me that it was no worries! I absolutely love her and I cannot thank her enough for helping me out. You wouldn't guess it by the Village Spa's quaint exterior or location (in the heart of Old West Chester), but this place is actually a very modern and luxurious Aveda salon and day spa. I have visited the Village Spa on occasions that they can get me in last minute, which isn't often. The Village Spa is not very big so for this reason alone I usually end up at Mitchell's. I have had both color services and updo styling at the Village Spa and have been consistently pleased with the results and the service experience. When you are getting your hair styled you sit in front of old armoires that serve as mirrors and containers for all of the stylist's tools. Definitely more unique than the traditional stylist's cubicle. All Aveda products are used so you can bet on a relaxing service; I have to fight to stay awake whenever I get my hair washed with Aveda shampoo! The Village Spa also offers facials, massages, and other body services. Make sure to cancel 24 hours in advance if you can't make an appointment or your credit card will be charged for have the service! read more

This place was cute and everyone was quite nice and lovely. My highlights looked great in the shop but once I got in front of a mirror at home, I could see that the color on my bangs only started one inch from my scalp. I had to go to Ulta and get root touch up powder and draw my hair color in for months afterwards. I guess that's my own fault for being non-confrontational since I should have just gone back and kindly pointed it out and asked for a fix. The Village Spa is a place so awesome that I almost don't want to review it for fear of others making it too crowded. I have gone to the Village Spa since I was a senior in high school and got a terrible highlight at Ambiance, another Aveda salon in West Chester. My mother was not having it, I ended up in Kellie's wonderful hands and we have been in a semi-exclusive relationship ever since. I say semi-exclusive since I spent a year and a half away on a rotational program, and while Indiana was a close enough drive to get my hair done, Boston and South Carolina were not. I have long, very curly hair and am pretty terrified of new stylists. However, I love new styles and colors and Kellie always knows what to do. "I want to be a Kardashian" transalates to a dark sexy chestnut. Then we went blond for a while. Then I wanted to grow it out, so she took my hand, showed me scary "Reba" color, and I walked out with an awesome Red mane. Now I'm back to a little blond, which she balayaged beautifully. I have been stopped on the street, at restaurants, and especially out of town and been asked how/where I do my hair. Curly hair is no joke people. If you want to try someone new go to Kellie, she knows exactly what she's doing. My entire family has gone to different stylists here at some point, but my mom and I are pretty religious about it. My dad is an indecisive person that doesn't like the cost, but always comes back after a few bad "cheap" cuts. Call ahead and set up an appointment, and they will figure out the right stylist for you. The owners also cut hair, which is always nice to see in this industry. It is pricey, but your hair will look amazing. I have also gotten waxes and have never been disappointed. I'm sure any service will do a wonderful job, just be prepared to pay for it. read more

Yeeeeeeeeeeah this place is pretty awesome. Adorable old house turned spa with more than enough parking in a private lot. Walking in the smell of harsh chemicals hit me, but perhaps someone was getting something out of the ordinary done to their hair or something - that's about my only complaint. I got there 15 minutes early and they let me change into a robe and sit in a comfortable chair upstairs with a warm foot soak (smooth stones in the bottom of the bowl so I could kind of massage my own feet - very relaxing). Joan was my massage therapist and she did an excellent job. I needed deep tissue for my shoulders and back and she did just that - she didn't waste time - she got into the nitty gritty to try and work out my knots and tight muscles. The lotions and oils they use smell divine also. The room was the perfect temperature and had appropriate dim lighting and soft music. I especially loved the Aveda Blue which is like icy hot and tingles when you put hot towels over it - it loosens up your mussels and feels great. Yes this is a pricey place, but I do believe you get what you pay for. It's not just a quick in and out experience - they truly make you feel completely relaxed and spend their time on you. I am not sure why but I've never really "connected" with a hair stylist at this location. I always left feeling a bit "meh". (That is very personal for each individual person though, I am sure that the stylists are a good fit for some!) However, I've seen Lynsey for a facial and Lisa for brow waxing and left feeling relaxed and pampered. They both did a great job. The building and overall atmosphere is great, I love the vibe, and Aveda products always smell SO nice and fresh. I'll skip the salon and stick to the spa for now. read more

I ended up here because it's close to where i work. This is the full-on spa experience, robe and foot soak and tea. Incredible. At Village Spa I got my first-ever facial, and wow! It was in preparation for a party, but I honestly didn't expect to enjoy it as much as a massage. But the facial was incredibly relaxing, done so professionally I almost fell asleep. On the same day I also got the express 15-min shoulder massage, which was...fine. The massage itself was in a chair, and it felt good, but the chair was located at the top of the stairs. So everyone walking up to have their massages/facials done squeezed past me getting my massage. Awkward. I don't recommend that service at all. My second visit I had a 90-minute massage (by the same therapist who had done my express massage), and it was divine. Again, I almost fell asleep from being so relaxed. The best complete spa experience I've ever had. Pricey but you get what you pay for. Good for a special occasion, gift, or an indulgent self-treat. read more

Only got my hair done, the stylist, environment, and process went fine, but for a haircut and a little toner (my hair is shaved on the sides, top is maybe 2 1/4 inches) $120 seemed extremely steep, especially considering I spent at most an hour there. I visited the Village Spa on June 1st, 2018. I came in much closer to my last hair appointment as my daughter is getting married and wanted to make sure my hair looked nice for her wedding. When I arrived at the salon I met with my stylist and he began working on my hair. My hair is short (to my chin) and thin. The stylist applied some foils, a bit of color on my roots and trimmed the end (less than half an inch if that). At no point was I ever told that I was going to be billed as if I had a thick head of long hair. I was charged for a full highlight, a retouch and a full haircut totaling $195.00! I would have NEVER agreed to this as I do not have enough hair to justify that cost. I feel completely taken advantage of and will NEVER recommend this salon to anyone. I will make sure to tell anyone considering a visit to think twice and to be prepared for a HUGE bill. read more

The staff is very friendly and always welcomes you when you walk in the door even if you aren't there for a service and just need some new products! My daughter Amanda and her husband Greg gave me a gift card for Eye Lash Tinting, Eyebrow Waxing and a Facial. Lisa was the Esthetician who did these services. It all began with me changing into a big, comfy robe, going into a very serene room and having a wonderful,relaxing foot soak! I then was led by Linda into the next room where I laid on a heated massage table, under covers while she carefully tinted my eye lashes and did my eyebrows. She then put my hands in warm bags with melted wax in them and rubbed it all around on my hands. While my hands were in the warm wax, she gave me my facial. It was Amazing! There was soft music playing, the lights were real low and Lisa did such a wonderful job. She then used hot moist towels to clean off my face and neck when she finished. I felt so relaxed and so pretty when I left. Even though it is her job, I felt like Lisa truly enjoyed doing what she does. I never once felt rushed, or that I might be keeping her from doing something else. I will definitely go back for this again. A big thank you for such a wonderful experience. read more
