Everyone who knows me knows that Michelle is my hair stylist because every time she freshens up my color and/or cut, I get a million inquiries on who made my hair look so fabulous!!! So no surprise that Michelle is an absolute sorceress of all things hair color and maintenance. Today, though, I experienced her new service for a scalp facial. Let me tell ya, this was one of the most relaxing and sensational couple of hours of my life! Plus, my scalp is feeling healthier than ever and my hair reflects the health with an extra shine and softness. So, what was so great about this scalp facial? This one starts with a nice brush of the roots, where Michelle spent lots of time really loosening things up. Then she mixed a special scalp mask that was perfect for the things I wanted to target with my scalp (like some extra moisture and removal of product buildup). That sat for a while doing it's thing and then over to the sink I went. At the sink Michelle offered me a (disposable) eye mask, which I accepted. Definitely take the eye mask!!! While I lay comfortably in the relaxing darkness, Michelle worked in additional products to my roots, each one smelling more delicious than the next, and I entered into a complete in-body sensory experience. She brought in tuning forks to use at various points explaining what they helped with: grounding, circulation, calming. I felt my body fade into a complete space of calm. Rounding out the facial was a great hair wash (who doesn't look having their hair washed?!) inclusive of a scalp massage. When I opened my eyes and took off the eye mask I felt like a new person. I was talking calmer, moving more gently, just overall operating on a different vibration. Michelle finished off the service with a blowout. My hair has never smelled so incredible!!! I typically treat myself to a spa facial for my skin ~ 4x a year. Now that I've had a scalp facial, it's going to be on a similar rotation!! One of the best services I've ever received and left me feeling like I just bought myself the absolute best self-care around. Thank you Michelle for helping me end my week and start my weekend in a calm space. *Bonus* if you're a music lover, Michelle's playlist is always fire and matches whatever mood we're playing with. I'm sure many other women named Michelle are lovely but none of them are going to come close to the rock-star status of this one. Confused if you've gotten the right one? Double check that the woman touching your head is a gorgeous, tattooed beauty with a heart of gold. Yes? Right one! Now down to business. I've been having Michelle do my hair for over 10 years now and if you notice my profile, I now live in Los Angeles. I love the weather in LA but am now forced to have my Michelle fly 3000 miles to fix what others have done OR I need to brave the cold and come to her. Guess what? Worth it! I am a very difficult customer. I have wacky hair that has all sorts of cowlicks and curls in the wrong places and my grey hair is getting out of control and I can never decide what color I want to end up with.... Michelle manages to wrangle all of this into the perfectly done pixie cut every single time and my hair comes out looking red-carpet ready. I'd never have stubmled across Evolve had it not been for the Michelle G. (Preferred Stylist to the Curly Girls of Waltham) having finally come to her senses and left Hair's Evelyn. Evolve is full of friendly, smiling staff that will welcome you and offer a magazine while you wait. There are no dust bunnies lingering in the corners and the music wasn't from 1945. From what I've seen, there is talent and service at Evolve. It isn't that spacious - only 4 chairs, but you won't feel crowded. I have no choice but to go back, since I won't trust anyone else with my locks - so I am thankful it is what it is; and not a dump! read more

Luna Locks Salon is what you would imagine a hair salon would be if Stevie Nicks owned and operated everything. Rather than song filling your ears the room is filled with the talent of hair styling, reiki, crystals, magic and positive intentions. The real life owner and stylist Michelle Selden wont just cut and style your hair but also suggest what essential oils you could use for whatever might be ailing you. Stylist really doesn't describe everything Michelle does because she is truly an alchemist. Michelle actually can make you look like your hair naturally grew the color of lavender purple. Michelle has been cutting my hair for over 5 years and I can't imagine going to anyone else. I'm always getting compliments on my hair when I am out about thanks to Michelle. Please keep in mind she does book out in advance and that's completely ok because she is worth the wait. Best hair cut ever! I came in with the worst cut from someone who looked like she had been cutting hair all of 2 days. Michelle worked wonders and my hair looks and feels fantastic. While discussing color (which was also fucocked up) she made a suggestion of highlighting and I said ok like I usually do (because sometimes I just don't want to hurt someone's feelings). After she was done my color and highlights were stunning. Without telling me she did a different highlight and told me because she had Felt a vibe from me and saw my expression change when she mentioned the first color - she knew it wasn't what I really wanted and changed it to something not as drastic. I typically go to Michelle here, she does an amazing job on my hair and is always honest about what will look good on me or not. On a few occasions due to the salons busy schedule along with mine, I've seen Sherri who is just as amazing. The salon is beautiful, clean and the vibe is always right. It doesn't feel like the stuck up salons you often see around here where the whole place judges you the minute you walk in. I always feel welcomed. As soon as I leave the salon, I'm getting compliments left and right and what girl doesn't love that!? I always share the salon with others when they ask (even though I wanna keep it a secret for my own selfish reasons :) ). As a natural brunette they've guided me through pink and purple hair, blonde hair, silver hair, brown hair, long hair and short hair and they always make me feel special. 10/10 would DEFINITELY recommend! I highly recommend Michelle for color (there is more than one MIchelle who works there, so be sure to ask for the colorist). She's extremely talented and can deliver your exact vision if you tell her what you want, but I've trusted her to do "whatever you think looks good" and received many compliments on her work. I got my hair cut somewhere else on Saturday, and despite asking her to change a few things that I didn't like (which she didn't do) I ended up with a bad, choppy haircut that made me look like a 1950's schoolgirl. My supervisor recommended this place to me, Peg specifically, and they managed to squeeze me in on my lunch break today, 3 days after the offending haircut. Peg fixed my hair and did an AMAZING job, she gave me just what I wanted. She listened to me, told me how she would fix it, and boom, it was done. She's fast and she's super nice and I'll be coming back here exclusively from now on. Michelle Seldon has been doing my hair for years now and I can't be my more thankful for her professionalism and dedication to my hair. I wanted a certain look and color and she took the time to actually take my hair into account when it came to the texture, what could be done and what couldn't. So instead of just slapping on all this beach blonde dye and covering it with purple dye to create the purple ombre I wanted on to my dark brown hair, she took the time to explain that we needed to do this in stages so my hair wouldn't break. Unlike other hairdressers she didn't care about the money, she cared about the results and my hair and most importantly what was best. It took almost a year to get to the look I really wanted but by listening to her, using the products she recommended and keeping up with my appointments my hair finally got to the purple ombre I had always wanted. Evolve itself is a smaller salon but it's designed nicely, they have music on in the background, and clients are often getting different services done so it does not feel crowded. Michelle S. has made my hair dreams come true- no, seriously! She's been giving me fabulous cuts for about a year now, and I finally decided to try the Kerasilk smoothing treatment on my thick, coarse, unruly hair. It turned out to a life changing procedure- my hair now looks salon-styled with very little effort, while feeling healthy and smooth. So, I have not been to this salon as of yet, however. . . . .after 2 voicemails and a text over a 3 week period, I finally received a reply via text message saying "thanks for reaching out!" and "what are you looking to have done?". I replied right back saying that I would like a partial foil and just a quick trim and that I would be a new client. That was a week ago. Still no response. It's a shame because after reading all of the great reviews, and having a friend that goes to Michelle, I was excited to make an appointment. Rather than another trip to Super Cuts, I tried Evolve Hair Salon. Sherri gave me one of the best hair cuts I have ever had. She took her time to look at how my hair grows and how to cut it to make me look good. My hair tends to stand up if it is cut too short, and she saw just where to leave it longer. She also did something no one else has ever done when cutting my hair. She asked me if I wear my glasses all the time. When I said yes, she had me put them on to trim up my hair around them and make the sideburns look even. I definitely plan to go back to her for my next hair cut to get one that really suits me. read more
