This place has really good corned beef. Massive selection of great sandwiches. Their turkey chili is really good too. One time, after I left and was back at work with my food, I sat down to eat the turkey chili and half of it was cold. Not, room temperature, but cold as if it came out of the fridge and they didn't heat it up enough. That was my only bad experience after eating here several times. read more

I placed an order for dinner delivery. I live about 7 blocks from the restaurant and ordered easy items to prepare, some I am sure are made in advance. It took an hour for the food to arrive and the delivery driver stated they had a delivery far away or some excuse. Red beans and rice were fantastic prior, yet last nights order had SO many onions in it when I took off the lid, my eyes bleed. My pretzel roll sandwich was actually burnt. Take an hour to bring food that I could not even feed my dogs. Managers, when taking an order and you know the delivery is going to take a long time, tell the customer so they can choose if they want to wait that long. Bad food, no customer service. Not as good as they used be. I have been going to this place since they opened and have referred tons of people if they wanted a delicious ass sandwich. Was my all time favorite spot to go to. The sandwiches used to be great, fresh, and exactly how you ordered them. They would take a few mins but it was worth it. I moved a little ways from the area so I would stop by when I was in Grosse Pointe for a sandwich. My last two visits were less than. I ordered the Chicado, which was always one of my favorite. The chicken seemed liked it had been sitting out for a while and dry, the avocado was on its way to being no good and the bread was stale. The second time which was today (7/24/18) I ordered two sandwiches. A Baja chicken and a turkey pesto. The Baja did not look like the picture on the website at all and again the chicken was dry. The pesto was to be for my kids which I did not give to them because the bread was molded on the bottom. I Can't imagine the staff or person who prepared my sandwiches totally missed that and continued to make my sandwich. The staff isn't as memorable as before and a little bit stale too! I hope they can find their way back to how they used be or they'll miss out on yet another long time customer. read more

Good sandwiches. Some sandwiches are overpriced for the portion size and others are well-sized for the price. Some of the sandwiches can be dry such as the bird. You ask for mayo or ranch to make it not so dry and they always forget it or put very little. read more

I love this place. The food is fabulous, and the people are awesome! I work nearby, and for over a year now we order lunch from LBD several times a week. The menu is extensive and creative. My favorites - Caprese Baguette (with the most delicious balsamic vinaigrette ever - try it on multigrain...yum), Spinach Salad (again with the balsamic), the Deuce Deuce (ham/turkey & cheese toasted on a pretzel roll); The boss likes the Outlaw, coworker loves the Fajita wrap. Everyone loves the Big Tuna. The negative comments here don't register with me! I'm there so often and have never had a similar experience. Leads me to believe those are isolated incidents (which happen even at the finest restaurants). LBD has catered group business lunches at work, and everyone raves about the food which is always creative, fresh and much more inspired than any sandwich chain (LBD is preferred over Pantera which used to be our fave). My boss' boss looks forward to lunch when he's at our facility - because I always get LBD for him! For catered events they make a wonderful pasta salad - which was made by the owner and sent with our sandwich order with his compliments. When was the last time the owner of a restaurant was in the kitchen, let alone noticed you or did something to thank you for your business? LBD is a great value for your dollar. Most of the sandwiches and salads are so large that I get two meals out of them. Everything is made to order with fresh ingredients, The young people working there are friendly and courteous - even when they have a line to the door and it's super busy. My advise to an unhappy customer at any restaurant - if the food isn't to your liking, then politely bring it to their attention. If you don't tell them that your food isn't right then how are they to know? How they respond is a testament to good (or poor) customer service. If you repeatedly order something that isn't hot enough for you, then why not simply request your order extra toasty?? I personally don't care for Blue Cheese, so I ask them to leave it off or substitute something else...and they are happy to do so. I've never been to Burrito Mundo - but if it's owned by the same folks - I will have to give them a try! read more

I'm willing to give this place another try... the sandwiches were really good, hence my intended return, but there just shouldn't be that many complications in ordering two sandwiches. I'm hoping it was a fluke. Parking here is a little hard to come by, but once inside all the menu is printed all over the walls really clearly. I chose the OUTLAW and my god daughter selected the Buffalo Chicken Po Boy that was advertised on special on a big poster on the wall as the "Sandwich of the month". We took a seat in the sitting area... and waited... and waited... in fact, we waited so long that I began to do the math in my head and realized I was overcharged. I asked the cashier about this and was told that there were "two different types of sandwiches..." and that I guess I was supposed to specify I wanted that one that was on special. Um, okay? (My god daughter was literally staring at the posted and pointed at it when she told me what she wanted). So, once I SPECIFIED I wanted the one that was $3 cheaper, they gave me the difference of my money back. Not a huge deal, but I don't understand having two sandwiches with the same name - but if you must and you KNOW one is the sandwich on special for the month, you'd think you would ask. Secondly, the wait. Jeeze Louise. I like my sandwiches fresh but I was waiting so long that the people who came in 10 minutes after me were complaining. I checked my time and I actually had waited over 35 minutes for two sandwiches. It was not a lunch rush time either (probably about 3 or 4 pm). That's kind of over the top. I have to admit that they were some damn good sandwiches and the buffalo chicken po boy for $5 was a steal (sorry, that ended in July... but I'm sure there is a different special this month) but I will be calling my order in ahead of time next time and making sure that the sandwich I ordered matches the price listed when paying. read more

Tried this place for the first time yesterday, and I would definitely go there again. They have a very extensive and interesting menu. I had the Outlaw based on reviews I had read here. It was okay but I have to say I would have liked less turkey and more of everything else. When I have a sandwich with bacon on there I expect a pretty thick layer. There were only a couple of pieces on there and it wasn't the thick cut style bacon. On a whim I added coconut red lentil soup which was a special of the day while they were packing up my sandwiches, and that was delicious! My husband got a Georgia Reuben minus lettuce (seems strange to make a sandwich with both cole slaw and lettuce.) He was very happy with his sandwich. I noticed some of the reviews mentioned that the service wasn't great but the guys working when I went in were very nice. With such a huge menu I will have to try it a few more times and hope it's good enough to update my review and add a star or two. read more

This place is a nice little gem almost on the Detroit border. An almost overwhelming sandwich selection. I have had a few different ones, but my favorite is the Tony Danza Extravaganza. Sandwich is so big that my wife and I can split it and get some soup too, which is very good. Very friendly staff and prompt service for hand made sandwiches, that some go through the oven. The only negative would be the lack of seating. Maybe three tables. Plan on carrying out and if you get lucky cool. Maybe where they got the name? It is about tje size of a lunch box. It is for sure worth checking out. I even go out of my way to go sometimes. read more

i don't understand these negative reviews. i LOVE LBD and always look forward to one of their sandwiches. my fav is the chicado with an extra side of ranch for dipping, but their monteray chicken and their pulled pork are also excellent. i'm not a vegitarian, but my counsins are and they were thrilled with the wide selection and loved their sandwiches, and like to go back every time they're in town. i've also had nothing but really polite and prompt service whenever i order. it's always a good idea to call ahead because it usually takes about 15 to 20 mins to prepare. they also have the best chips - dill pickle. i always recommend LBD to people as a great lunch place and everyone I've sent there has liked it. read more

Excellent place for vegetarians. This place has my favorite veggie burger (of all veggie burgers). It's such a flavor-filled sandwich. There's tons of choices for herbivores and meat-eaters. Everything always tastes fresh. They have a $5 sandwich of the month, and a fridge with cold $5 sandwiches. It's a small place. Although I used to love the sandwich I get here the service here is horrendous. One time I was placed on hold for over 3 minutes, another time part of my order was forgotten, and the other part was incorrect. Needless to say I lost my appetite after I found a hair in what was my favorite sandwich. Perhaps it was my own fault for continuing to go back but I gave them the a second and third chance.
