This is by far the best spot to get a Ruben. Everyone local to this area knows this. Everyone loves their hearty portions and delicious sandwiches. Be prepared to wait for your order and to pay for what you get. It can be a bit on the pricey side but once you go once you'll understand why. There is simply not one bad thing on this entire menu. Fabulous soups - especially the Navy bean & ham, which makes sense, I guess. It IS the best ham house in the world. Great omelets, great sandwiches, great service. We often stop in when heading to or from Eastern Market, but also drop by during the week for breakfast or lunch when we can. Our favorite is the half sandwich + soup. Can't go wrong here. Professional staff all around, too. read more

I went there with my co-worker for lunch last week. We ordered food and fountain soda drinks (Coca Cola). The food was good. The waitress would come around and would ask us if we need a re-fill of coca cola. We would yes. After our meal and drinks, we recived our bill and it was over 40.00 dollars for lunch. When I looked at the bill, I noticed that we were charged for re-fills of coca cola 5 times at 3.29 a refill. When I asked the waitress, why didn't you tell us that re-fills aren't free, she replied "you didn't ask". Long story short, I'll never go back. This place is a overpriced restaurant in Eastern Market area. Zeff's coney island in Eastern Market doesn't charge for re-fills. Therefore, if anyone goes there to eat, don't get re-fills on Soda. read more

I was on my way home and Whitey Castele's wuz callin' my name - you know, the Porcelain Room. As I slipped up the off-ramp, I remembered there was another restaurant in the area I wanted to try. A little driving around and I found it just a few yards away - LOUIE'S!! I walked in and I wasn't real sure this was related to the other area Louie's I visited. Not until I saw the menu - bang - there it was, the familiar Louie's menu that I am so used to seeing. This location is a bit smaller than the others, but then it's probably a bit older than all the others, too. They have carryout service, counter service and a counter at the window, so you can look outside as you eat. Oh yeah, and booths / tables for traditional seating. Don't bring a crowd, because they seriously can't seat many people here. But do bring your appetite along, 'cause you're gonna wanna feed it. read more

Ordered the pastrami omelet with swiss cheese hash Browns wheat toast. It was okay, the hashbrowns came out the winner. The wheat toast is pleather...psst..not real wheat. The omelet needed more cheese. I asked for swiss. They skimmed on the cheese. The pastrami was a tad salty. If they would fix what I complained about I would of gave them a 5 star. After eating the meat my mouth needs water...umm yeah way to salty. Smh. I paid over $17...bucks for 2 omelette breakfast. read more

So I went for breakfast today 3/9/2020,and spent $27 and some change. Normally Lou's is great but I dont know what happened today, my toast rye grilled was grilled so flat that it is full of oil all the way through, pure grease. I'm very disappointed with this food order, all of the food seemed rushed and for the first time wasn't tasty at all. I ordered for 4 people and everyone was unhappy with there breakfast, so I don't know if it's new cooks or what but I wont visit Lou's for quite a while. You guys have got to do better. read more

This has to be one of the best restaurants in the area. Whether you live in the area or you're just passing by, this place is a must go. They have some pretty good breakfast. Their omelettes are loaded with yumminess. My favorites are the Piggy omelette and the Corned beef. Great brunch spot but it's a pretty small space. Best to order take out. This space is pretty small. They can maybe seat around 20 people but they do seem to do a lot of carry out business. I've eaten here a couple times and every time it is awesome. The corned beef omelette is amazing, lots of delicious meat. The corned beef sandwich is good too. NASTY! Corned beef is dry. Sauerkraut didn't taste right. This was my second tome eating here and there will not be a third. They didn't give me rye bread. The bread they did give me was only toasted on one side but there was so much butter sauce on it, it made it soggy. read more

There are two locations for Louie's and I'm guessing this was the original location before the second opened near Eastern Market. This was a great hole-in-the-wall diner and we made it before it got super busy. I went with a group of 4, including me, and we were quickly seated. I ordered the pastrami omelette and my friends ordered the breakfast special and two corned beef hashes - one with scrambled eggs and the other without. We all received wheat toast with our orders and they were delightfully buttered heavily. My omelette was great - tasty pastrami with American cheese singles stuffed inside an egg shell. The portion was great for the price. The breakfast special came with hash browns, eggs, ham, sausage, AND bacon - a pretty great deal for the price. The corned beef hash was the largest portion I have ever seen and it was really tasty! I really enjoyed my time at Louie's and I'm glad we chose it over some other nearby joints. read more

My cousin brags about this place constantly, and finally talked me in to doing lunch with him last Friday (9/8/2017). I will say upfront that the service is good, and the wait staff is very friendly. My cousin ordered the corn beef which was, in my opinion, OK, but nowhere near the outstanding flavor about which he bragged. I ordered a turkey Reuben, thinking it would be sliced turkey meat like the corn beef, but what I received instead was some strange imitation of turkey that look more like some sort of baloney style turkey. They threw the meat on the grill and it must have sucked up all of the juices of the sour Kraut because it was as soggy and mushy as bread. It was tantamount to a jelly consistency with absolutely no turkey flavor whatsoever. This was by far one of the grossest, and nauseating sandwiches I could hope to eat even in my worst nightmare. By the looks of things, they seemed to have the breakfast dishes down cold, and they looked delicious! The french fries were not bad, and the coffee was pretty good. This turkey Reuben had to have been made this way simply out of contempt for any customer that orders it. When I say gross, baby I mean Gross! I nearly vomited my first swallow back onto the plate. Needless to say, I did not eat anymore of it. Again, this is an example of mediocrity at its highest level. I would say that their breakfast deals look pretty good, but what I saw and experienced of the other things on their menu I wouldn't put in front of a dog. read more
