I have really mixed feelings about lunch lady. I think the cocktails are amazing and the atmosphere is super cool. But to me all of their food, kind of taste like fish, which is not great. The garlic noodles had such a strong fishy taste. I could not eat it. The steak Luc lak I did really like, the vegetables that came with it. I was not a huge fan of, but the steak itself was cooked perfectly. The crab fried rice again of course it will have fish so you need to know what you're ordering. I went with people who liked fish. The basket cheesecake was entirely underwhelming and it was sort of a baked cheesecake like it's very much not cold and creamy so it was really a 3 out of 10 sort of experience.

We dropped by for lunch, and sat in the shades outdoor patio which was perfect on a hot, sunny day. All the food we had was amazing, and the ingredients they used is so fresh! Their beef pho is perfection, it makes you all warm and fuzzy - without all the msg. The waiter was very friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. I'll have to come back to try the Wagyu pho!

My friends and I went here during our short trip to Canada. We RSVPed in advanced and were guided to the outside area to eat. I honestly preferred this as the weather was nice. The waiter guided us through the menu and was very personable, along with the other servers who brought food to our table. The food overall was amazing as we ordered a lot of food. The flavors were great and it does fill you up.

Lunch Lady is an award-winning Michelin guide Vietnamese eatery in Vancouver paying homage to a Vietnamese street food legend, Nguyen Thi Thanh. Reservations are highly recommended here so plan accordingly. Wifey and I pulled with our homies for a birthday brunch and were seated right away upon arrival. Our group shared some Egg Rolls and Prawn Fritters and those were absolutely delicious. I got the Steak Luc Lac and wifey got the Beef Pho. Everything that we had was amazing and all of the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Lunch Lady is Viet gang approved!

The restaurant is a little small, it's nice and cozy. The staff were friendly and attentive! Our table was a bit wobbly and my back rest of my seat was falling apart. The food was definitely the highlight, I got the Wednesday lunch special which was the Bun Rieu and the broth was so tasty!

In the middle of commercial, the food was tasty and we managed to snag a outdoor patio spot at 6pm. The fried noodles was really yummy. We got the crab fried rice and crispy prawns as well. Will order again! Not everywhere is wheelchair assessable but they have seats indoor that is. Parking can be a pain but there are a mix of paid and free parking around.

Overall: Not worth the wait or hype. Food: 8/10. Beef carpaccio was really good with the taro chips. Steak luc lac was good, but honestly something you could make at home or even get at a streak house, I didn't understand the hype on that one. The pho was really good with depth flavor, but honestly, I'm sure there's plenty of hidden gem pho spots that would easily rival this, especially in a city. Service: 3/10. She came one and never saw her again. We skipped dessert because we waited so long. Plus we ordered fries, which never came, her response was it shows green on the system, apologized and said she can refund or expedite the order... what happened to restaurant comping the food, expediting it or offering a free dessert? Like when did that go out the window? Also, isn't it you job to check it came out? Anyways, needless to say, hostess is the only reason it was a 3/10 and now a 0/10. Ambiance: 6/10. Seating is minimal and outdoor seating is not worth it. The table next to us had the AC unit dripping onto the chair the whole time.

I wish I could go back here but I don't live in the area! If I'm ever back in Vancouver this will be my first stop. The garlic noodles with the poached egg were amazing, as were the tempura shrimp and steak luc lac. They also have a great cocktail selection. I tried two different gin cocktails with egg white foam and loved them both. The prices are fair and the service is great. I love the laid back vibe of this restaurant! Great for friends, or a date night.

Hands down one of my favourite dining experiences here. Came to celebrate a birthday. The staff were wonderful and attentive. All dishes we had were flavourful and executed with precision. We were seated near the open door for the patio and the staff did not hesitate to offer a blanket for the chill. Our waitress was super sweet overall too; happy to have had her. Soft shell crab (4.7/5): perfectly crisp, delicious and fun to get hands on to eat as well. Bone marrow (3.8/5): immensely flavourful, maybe a tad overpowering, but also a messy but enjoyable eating experience. Crab fried rice (5/5!!!!): THE PERFECT RATIO of crispy bits, umami, soft rice volume, and refreshing green onion topping. Without the sauce, the rice was already perfectly savoury. The sauce was heavy on spice and soy so we added it sparingly in our own servings of rice, but definitely loved adding it in. We tried to keep the crab intact in its own little pile to maintain the texture as well. Perfect fried rice experience. I forgot how much I LOVE rice, but this dish revived my passion ~ Garlic noodles (4.3/5): HEAVY on the garlic, rich and creamy mouthfeel. Great texture on the noodles having been slightly charred during the fry. Great choice as well. Three Layer Dessert (4.8/5): I've never had anything quite like this. All components were delicious and executed well. A texture lover's wet dream. My personal take was that the streusel was a little too much, but the taste of everything together was top tier - loved taking little bites of each component. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Lunch Lady's bib gourmand is well justified across the board. All my love to the LL team, they're quite honestly the best ever.

We saw that it was voted as the top 10 World Best Restaurant & decided to give it a try. Wowza! The servers were very friendly & helpful, since it was our first time there, she suggested that we try the sample menu for 4. In the sample menu, there were several appetizers presented. Let me tell you each dish was a WOW! The taste of each dish was fantastic, tantalizing to your tastebuds! For the sample menu Aka An Choi, we had Taro & Dips, Beef Carpaccio, Octopus skewers, Tiger Prawns, Bone Marrow, Steak Luc Lac, Clams Coconut, Crab Fried Rice (OMG!) AND... you get to chose 2 kinds of desserts which we chose Vietnamese Coffee Tiramisu & 3 layer Dessert. We also ordered their Egg Coffee, Coffee Pandan, Pandan Coco Tea & Calamansi Soda Chanh. I am putting the food reviews in each of the photos or else this review might turn into a novel. It is my first time there & definitely not my last Reservation with credit card only for dinner. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere too.

One of my top meals in Vancouver, hands down. I get the hype now. I understand the assignment as a foodie this place delivered. We ordered the pomelo salad, vegan pho and crab fried rice. The favorite of our table was the crab fried rice, it was delicious with real crab, flavored perfectly. The vegan pho (forgot to take a picture) was also surprisingly very good with veggies and fried tofu and tofu skin. The pomelo salad was pretty good but not what I expected it to be as large chunks of pomelo with light dressing, not sure if I would order it again as very different than Tam Tam's pomelo salad. But will crave that crab fried rice and vegan pho until I can come back. We were full but ordered the black sesame basque cheesecake and it came with a scoop of black sesame ice cream, also on point as not too sweet. The simplicity of Vietnamese food done well. When we were waiting for our Uber, I saw the Anthony Bourdain mural on the patio and knew he visited which put this place on the map. What a legend.

This review is long overdue because I'm still recovering from the food coma. We came as a party of 6 and it was just enough food for everyone! Everything is a 10/10. We ordered: Beef Carpaccio w/ taro chips Garlic noodles Beef noodle soup Duck salad Che ba mau Calamansi soda Service was quick and great! The staff are all so friendly and they were speaking Vietnamese with my parents :') They also sell merch and I love the shirts! The environment is pretty cozy and intimate. Perfect for any occasion. I'll definitely come back again in the future. Tip: call to reserve a spot ahead of time :)

TLDR: made birthday reservations, they forgot my birthday before I had to remind them which was quite embarrassing. Best Vietnamese food I had in my entire life. Lunch Lady did not disappoint. I heard about it after trying Anh Chi Em years ago. The place is small yet beautiful and intimate inside. The service was great and we seated at our reservation time. I made the reservation over email which I included a birthday via open table/etc. I got an email at 12:30 am asking to confirm again which I thought was unprofessional. Regardless the food was amazing, we did the family style which was a great experience to try a variety of tapas. The food did not disappoint. Everything had their own flavor yet all tied within your authentic Vietnamese taste. My favs was the steak, shrimp, bone marrow, clams, and Che bau mau. Overall I highly recommend and would come back. The 4 set meal for 4 people could honestly feed 5-6 people.

Cali girl here *wave* I tried a bunch of different places but couldn't really say any was a favorite. I finally asked my nail tech what her favorite place was and she recommended Pho 37 and she was not wrong. Then I remembered that my nail tech will never leave me astray. I only had to try their pho once to know, THIS IS IT. Then I had to get their Bun Bo Hue, just tomake sure. The triple crown will be their Banh Mi, which I'm excited to try next but so far 5 stars all the way. Best Pho broth and the best Bun Bo Hue that I've found so far in the downtown Vancouver area. I'm sure as you fan outside of the city limits that there are just as good options but I've finally found my go to spot close to work and home after 3 months of living here. A plus plus is the huge portions but I also have to commend the meat to noodle ratio is just perfect. This is a cute little spot on Robson. Don't sleep on this one, ladies and gents. Dine in or dining out, don't forget to ask for the chilli garlic oil and garlic vinegar on the side. These condiments will level up any dish!

The only small issue was that it took a little while before someone came to take my order, and I eventually had to wave someone over. It wasn't a big deal, though, especially considering how busy they were. The portions here are huge, especially for the price. The broth was a little sweeter than I personally prefer, but it was very clean, clear, and flavorful. This is what I look for in a good bowl of pho. The noodles were cooked perfectly and had a nice soft texture. I ordered a combination bowl. My only suggestion would be a bit more of tripe and tendon. The tripe was a little sparse, and I honestly didn't realize I had tendon until I was almost finished with the bowl. But I like those, and not a lot of people do. Despite the restaurant being packed, the staff was stayed attentive, kept food coming out quickly, and did a great job taking care of everyone. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming. There was a nice mix of people. Some quietly watching videos on their phones, others catching up over conversation. It felt like the kind of neighborhood spot that attracts everyone. Overall, this is a convenient, affordable place with good pho and generous portions. If I'm in the area again, I'd definitely come back. .

Went in for lunch with my granddaughter, both of us fans of Vietnamese food. Ordered Green Papaya Salad ($12), Lemongrass Chicken on Vermicelli with one spring roll ($17), one lime soda ($6.50) and one pop ($3). Food arrived within minutes of ordering. Portions were very generous. The salad was perfect with everything very fresh, as it should be but often isn't in some places. Plump prawns and the scent and taste of basil was prominent. Delicious! The lemongrass chicken (we ordered extra chicken) with a spring roll was also very generous. We did not finish it between the two of us. Again, all was fresh, tasty and hot. This is one of our standard orders and Pho Goodness did not disappoint. Granddaughter declared it better than at our regular favourite, and Pho Goodness is around the corner from her home and not a bus ride out to Kingsway! Service was friendly and responsive. We asked that the volume be turned off on the massive TV over our heads (which nobody was watching) (it was), requested a glass for the pop and immediately received a tumbler full of ice. Lovely. We have found a new favourite on Davie Street, a true foodie heaven with a collection of independent restaurants of many ethnicities available. My wife and I stopped in for dinner one evening and each ordered the aforementioned noodle soup--she got a small ($11.75 plus tax) and I got a regular ($12.75 plus tax). We also got an order of salad rolls ($7.50 plus tax), which comes with 2 rolls. The rolls came quite late. They were pretty standard, coming with fried tofu, vermicelli, and lettuce. The peanut dipping sauce was on the liquidy, salty soy sauce side of things -- I wish it were creamier and less salty. 3/5 The soups were decent. The broth was peppery, with some nice, gentle spices detectable in there. I asked for a side of chili oil, which helped amplify the broth. You get a generous portion of noodles, fried tofu, and vegetables (broccoli, bok choy, carrot). Unfortunately the veggies were quite overcooked -- the broccoli was almost soggy, so were the carrots and bok choy. 3/5 All in all, middle-of-the-road veggie pho. The broth is pleasant. The veggies were overcooked, but plentiful and nicely chosen. Decent place for veggie pho.
