I've honestly never really been a big fan of Asian food or Vietnamese food, but this restaurant kind of surprised me. The rice platter appetizer was good. It had a unique taste. It was just enough to get started before the main dish. The chicken sandwich was OK. I personally feel like there was not enough meat on there. It was more bread than anything and I'm just not really a big sandwich eater so maybe that's why I'm being biased. The drinks were also good though they could've used a little bit more alcohol as they contain mainly mixers and juice. The inside of the restaurant has a nice ambience overall with the lighting, which will make perfect for a date night.

We tried out their Dine Out Vancouver dinner and really enjoyed how playful and creative the menu was from start to finish. We began with the fried sticky rice, which was surprisingly interesting. The sticky rice is pan-fried, cut into small cubes, and tossed with shimeji mushrooms, sweet soy sauce, sliced lap cheong sausage, and topped with a runny egg. It's tasty and comforting but FYI... the rice really sticks to your teeth. The smashing rice paper was a standout starter. It starts with a deep-fried rice paper (almost like a shrimp cracker), followed by a steamed rice sheet topped with flavorful minced pork, shrimp, and scallions. Dipped into the fermented pineapple anchovy sauce, it was inventive, bold, and delicious. For mains, the vermicelli bowl with grilled lemongrass chicken came with fried pork spring rolls and delivered exactly what you'd expect in a good way. The Hà Nội-style grilled meatballs and pork with vermicelli felt like a deconstructed pho, where you dip the noodles and vegetables into a sweet and spicy soup. A very solid and comforting choice. We finished with the banana cake, which leaned more glutinous in texture. Paired with tapioca and coconut milk poured over top, it was rich, satisfying, and a great way to end the meal. Overall, a thoughtful Dine Out menu with creative dishes, comforting flavors, and a nice balance of familiar and inventive bites. Definitely worth checking out.

The mango sticky rice drink was lifechanging. We shared a couple of dishes, both of which were excellent. My personal favorite was the ha noi grilled meatballs. The service was great and it was super homey inside. Definitely recommend!

DD Mau in Chinatown is always a solid choice when I'm craving Vietnamese comfort food. The squid ball skewers were super flavourful and perfectly cooked with a great bouncy texture. The chicken pho was good-- warm and comforting but was a bit light in terms of the broth flavour. We also had the spring rolls, which were tasty and crispy. Overall a great date spot for a satisfying meal in Chinatown.

Cute viet spot in Chinatown! Have heard good things about this spot and did not disappoint, they have good happy hour and late night deals! The chicken banh mi was $13 and 11" the chicken was incredibly juicy and I was so so happy the bread does NOT scrape the top of my mouth. The chicken pho was amazing as well the broth was very flavorful.

    Holy crap. Wings. Saigon sunrise

holy freaking shiza. This restaurant manifested itself from my dreams. 9-11 fri sat happy hour? Vietnamese upscale fusion? Us baddies from LA were so confused why this place wasn't freaking packed. And service was impeccable. Music was perfect. We got sat immediately but I would wait to sit at this place for 1 hr and still think its worth it. You have to get the wings. And the xoi sticky rice. Wings 100/10. Must get. Juiciest fried chicken. Maybe yhe best fried chicken ive ever had. Saigon sunrise 10/10. Amazing. Got me going. Milky Smooth. 7/10. The clarified milk tea and pandan flavors were awesome. Idk how i felt about the flavor combos as a whole though. The drink was a little strong for me. but NOT a bad thing to complain about !!!!!! And for the price?!!! For the happy hour?!!!!! Lit. Xoi Fried Sticky Rice. DELICIOUS. 10/10. Mightve liked some more freshness like more do chua on top. But wow.

It's a chill spot in chinatown, love how they are open late. I really enjoyed the wings, squid, fried rice, and banana cake! Service is fast here! The soups are good but I wouldn't say it's the best in the city. It's a refreshing spot that likes to experiment and refresh their menu every few months. My only critique is that the durian creme brûlée was too thick. Giving it an over cooked texture versus a light steamed custard. I would definitely come back for everything else.

A super fun spot sporting traditional flavours with delicious concepts. Vancouver is no stranger to Vietnamese food and you can easily find a cozy spot/restaurant just about anywhere. I took my parents here for lunch to try this unique spot. I love that they have a seasonal fresh sheet! Great for local and seasonal specials that you may never had before. They have a QR code on the table, but you can also ask for physical menus. The Day Menu is very straight forward with great staples, like pho, rice dishes, sandwiches and share foods. They have an interesting drink menu if that your jam. What we ordered: DD Mau Wings $17 Special Short Rib Beef Dip $18.5 Ha Noi Style Grilled Meatballs & Vermicelli $23 Dam Good Chicken & Rice $19.5 DD Mau Vietnamese Coffee $7.5 Ube Coconut Cloud Vietnamese Coffee $10 Deep-fried chicken wings to share. Can't go wrong with a crispy batter and then coated with a sweet fish sauce glaze. This is a great appetizer to make prepare your stomach for more food. Banh mi sandwiches to me seem to be trending, so when we tried the Short Rib Beef Dip was so good! A small bowl of pho broth to dip you meaty sandwich screamed comfort. My favourite dish was the Ha Noi Style Grilled Meatball & Vermicelli. The meatball was soaked in a sweet & sour, fish sauce "broth" with picked veggies and cilantro. On the side was the vermicelli and some leafy greens. Almost like a deconstructed version of other vermicelli rice noodle dishes. 10/10 would order again. DD Mau has two locations; Chinatown and Yaletown. If you want to try some elevated Vietnamese food go check them out!

    Damn Good Chicken and Rice

I really loved the inside of the restaurant--the ambiance and service were great. While the food isn't the most authentic, it's still decent. My favorite dishes were the fried sticky rice and the damn good chicken and rice; both had good flavor. I took a bite of the chicken & rice with shallots and onions, followed by a spoonful of soup--it was a perfect combination. The chicken pho was also very comforting and hearty. Although the food was good, but there are a few things that can be worked on. I felt like the chicken wings weren't the freshest, though the flavor was still good. The beef carpaccio slices were a bit too thick, making the beef chewy. The hu tieu didn't have much flavor; it felt like I was just eating rice noodles with some toppings. Overall, I think DD Mau has some great ideas. While some dishes might not be super authentic, they still offer a solid dining experience.

Awesome hidden gem in old Chinatown. The menu has much to choose from, either soups, snacks, or mains. The food was all executed well and the service was equally awesome. The vibe for lunch is pretty low key and busy. In the evenings they have live music and definitely a more lively, hip vibe. A great restaurant to add to your list when visiting Chinatown!

    Bun bo hue
    Thu P.

Got a bun bo hue here and had a few appetizers (green beans and fried sticky rice). The green beans were okay. They weren't particularly flavourful or stand out. The fried sticky rice flavours were really good, but it was too fried for my soft mouth. I prefer regular sticky rice. The bun bo hue was quite good! Missing some thing that are usually included, but I won't fault them for that. The flavours were delicious, noodles were cooked well, and there were plenty of meats. Service was impeccable. Restaurant is quite loud, but to be expected. The area we sat was very nice and spacious.

The taste of the fillings was very well balanced with nothing being overpowering. I could taste every single ingredient yet they went together very well! I particularly liked the stracciatella cheese. It added a fluffy and soft texture to the sandwich. The shop was small, cozy and well decorated. There were some available seats when I was there at around 1:30pm. There was no line as the peak lunch hour had passed. They made my sandwich immediately so I didn't have to wait at all.

Italiana was so good. Double Prosciutto!! Truffle flavor was strong and paired with stracciatella cheese. What a great combination! And Arugula was very fresh. Foccacia was very crispy outside and soft inside. One of the best sandwich. I will order again. Monte cristo was also good. Grilled bread was very crispy and nicely pressed. Provolone and prosciutto cotto combination was great, too. Sundried totamto provided great accent. I will order this one again, too. Overall, it was a great sandwich shop. Highly recommend.

Gosh it absolutely did not disappoint & I should have ordered another one! The taste of this sandwich was so delicious, I couldn't chew it fast enough. The cabbage, tartar sauce & fish-katsu sauce are delightful together. This food truck is located right at Canada Line subway station - Vancouver Centre Station - main entrance on Georgia at Granville. You'll notice it when you come up the escalator & turn right onto the Granville Mall. Basically it's right near Nordstrom. I don't know if I'll bother with the other sandwich options cause I just love the Fish-Katsu that much. It's a very small simple sandwich. Nothing really fancy to it at all, but the taste utterly rocks. So glad I tried it & I can't wait to go back!

I got the gyu-katsu sandwich. I found the sandwich a bit small and for the price, it was pretty expensive. $16 after tax. Don't get me wrong. It was tasty. I found it nothing wow. The beef was cut in a certain way that it remained as one piece to make it easier to season. The gyu katsu is their more popular sandwich. However, it doesn't come with any lettuce or anything other than the beef and sauce. The bread was nothing special. It was basically thin regular bread. It does take them about 10 mins to make the sandwich. In terms of the way they serve it, it was presented to me nicely and the box was made to perfectly fit the sando inside. Not a bad sandwich but it was just pretty pricy.
