    Food Stall
    Albert T.

I was getting groceries next door and decided to wander over to the Asian Street Food food hall for lunch, eventually settling on the Taiwanese biandang place, Lunch on the Plate. This seems to be the first B&M location for a food truck that roams around SLU. They sell a variety of different lunch boxes, with a kiosk in front of the stall for easy ordering. My food took about 10 minutes for them to fry up and assemble and soon I was digging in. Old School Fried Pork Chop Bento ($16.49) - They package food up in a plastic container with the lid on and tied in a plastic bag. I opened everything up as soon I as I picked up the food in order to preserve the freshly cooked texture. Upon opening the container, the strong fragrance of five spice and white pepper hits the nose, indicating liberal use on the two included pork chops. The pork chops are lightly breaded with coarse sweet potato starch and fried to a light crisp. They are exceptionally flavorful with the aforementioned spices and salt. There's a rim of fat along one side of each chop, conserving some of the moisture in the meat. The meat itself is not dried out or tough. On top of the fried pork chops, they scoop some minced preserved veggies, tangy, salty, and a bit spicy. Underneath the chops are a wide variety of vegetable based sides. There's corn in a butter and black pepper sauce, soft and tender stewed carrots, a mixture of cabbage, carrots, and black fungus, spinach, and finally half a marinated hard-boiled egg. This is all on a bed of perfectly cooked medium grain rice - fluffy but with a bite, allowing each individual grain to be felt. There's an excellent balance of protein, veggies, and rice, which is very well appreciated. Overall, the food feels more like home cooking rather than restaurant food, which is not a bad thing. It's probably way healthier and more nutritious than most restaurants around. (4/5) The food served at Lunch on the Plate is a bit on the pricey side, but portion sizes are pretty generous. It's a pretty good place to get a quick lunch after grocery shopping. Bathrooms - Larger ones as part of the food court.

I stopped by this truck in SLU for lunch on a Thursday. I came by around 1:20, so a little late for lunch, and there were not a ton of people (I've definitely seen dozens of people waiting around noon). I really appreciated that they have a self ordering screen, so I was able to quickly put in and pay for my order! My food was out within minutes, nice and warm. I grabbed chop sticks and napkins also conveniently left out. My entree had a pretty generous amount of non-rice. Cabbage, spinach, and corn, plus the egg and chicken made the meal pretty substantial! And of course it was quite flavorful. Lasted me two meals, and I will likely be back to try more food options!

Pretty decent Taiwanese food truck food! I ordered the pork chop over rice. The pork chop was nice and crispy and had a nice kick of pepper. However, I don't think the taste is that outstanding.

Super sweet owners and delicious food. We first discovered this food truck at a Ballard beer garden. Was surprised to see taiwanese food here in Ballard. Gave it a try and it was super yummy. The bento boxes are pretty full. In my opinion there is a lot of rice but also a good balance of protein and veggies which I really appreciate because it's hard to get veggies in sometimes when you eat out. They also have a braised tofu dish that I really enjoyed that has a couple different types of tofu products.

    Vegetarian tofu plate!

This food truck owner opened a store front in the Asia Family Market in Bellevue. My family tried their vegetarian plate and pork belly+ bamboo shoot plate. Both were wonderful and authentic Taiwanese taste. Their portion was very generous and side dishes were colorful and tasty as well. Would definitely go back!

Heard good things about them on social media so decided to try it out when they came around Esterra Park in Redmond. Went on a Friday afternoon, and the street parking around are all full. It wasn't clear if we could use the Garage parking but we did anyways. There was a small line when a few people continued showing up after. It took a while to get the food though, probably around half and hour, which imo is kind of slow for a food truck and just a few people. We got the Slow Braised Beef, Brasied Pork, Crispy Chicken Leg Quarter, Spicy Pepper Chicken and Braised Taiwanese Tofu. I have to say, the portion is not very large and the food is not that great. I got both the Bento box and the single dish, and I would recommend just going with the single dish orders. The price difference (around $7) is really not worth the difference in what you get. The slow braised beef is okay, not horrible, the braised pork sauce is probably the highlight, the crispy chicken leg quarter and spicy pepper chicken were again just okay. Just average. The braised taiwanese tofu was really bland and you get a few slices of tofu for $6.99. What? Anyways, I probably wouldn't come back again. If I wanted some yummy taiwanese chicken, I'd go to Monga Cafe. Much better value for the price and tastes better too. The service was fine, the food is lacking.

Legit taiwanese fried pork chops and chicken, sometimes difficult to find hours and locations that work since they are all over the place. I came here to get takeout when they were at the stone lounge in bellevue on a Sunday afternoon. The parking lot was not too full and there were 5 other customers. They don't have seating and we're not clearly marked. The service was good. The lady who took my order was kind and offered good recommendations. They were able to prepare the food in 10-15 minutes and completed my order well. The food itself was well seasoned and tasty. The owner had told me it wouldn't be soggy in an hr, but unfortunately at 40 minutes it was soggy so hard to give a complete review. I ordered the fried pork chop bento and a side of the spicy chicken. They were both well seasoned. The bento had corn, spinach, and a half a brown seasoned egg. The portion was decent and it was all served over warm rice. The side of spicy chicken was crispier as it was in a paper box and came with a sauce that was spicy and a little sweet. In combo it was a good amount of food for 2 people and satisfying though soggy. The price was a little high for a food truck, but probably average with inflation at around $15 a bento with the side being $7 so it came out to around $25 with tax. It wouldn't discourage me from coming back. Overall, well made delicious food, but a bit soggy for takeout and they don't really offer seating or places to eat there (except in your car). Reasonable prices, but difficult to track down. However, would recommend a taste with all things considered. The loss of a star is really due to the inconsistent location/times and lack of immediate eating space/ sogginess.

I heard a lot about this food truck and finally had a chance to try. It was across from Aloft hotel by entry of parking garage which was convenient. I got in line with people who picked and ordered. When it's my turn, I ordered an old school pork chop bento, spicy chicken bento, side pork chop and Taiwanese apple soda on the tablet and got a text for confirmation. Since it's raining, I waited in my car. After 25 minutes, I went to pick up at the same window. The staff was friendly and would double check my order. I really like spicy chicken and seasoning of pork chop but wish there was more seasoning flavor inside. It would be great if there are 2 separate windows for ordering and pick-up so everyone waited in one line. Overall, I will definitely try other bentos next time.

If you guys haven't tried out Lunch on the Plate, you guys are missing out! These Taiwanese bentos are absolutely authentic and super worth. Each rice bento comes with vegetables, eggs and let me say all the sides are wonderfully flavored and not bland at all. The flavors don't clash with each other either. I also got the Taiwanese style kimchi / pickled vegetables and they remind me of the vegetables we used to eat back when we went back to Taiwan. Definitely do not miss the chance to grab a bento. They have a Facebook page as well as Instagram where they will be each week.

Delicious Taiwanese style bentos, large portions and fairly reasonable prices! Food truck that is located in SLU during the week and perfect for a quick grab and go lunch. Staff speaks both english and chinese!

This had done a fair amount of PR but the experience is a tad below expectations. It's a lot of food and a lot for a lunch. This lunch box is not the best to bring into a lunch meeting or group setting, food has certain smell and all over the plate not as organized. The food also tastes mixed, not a good clean lunch experience for a fast pace work environment.

I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS TRUCK ENOUGH. The service is FANTASTIC and you can tell they love their food just as much as their customers. They really do bento better! I got the beef bento and it was incredible: beef was so tender and flavorful. The flavor of the bento is spot on: balanced and light yet so satisfying. I'm talking GARLIC BUTTER CORN PEOPLE!! And you can't miss the spicy chicken-that sauce for dipping is some of the best I've ever had. Not too spicy and compliments the chicken. Im about to book a flight to Taiwan after eating here-it's seriously THAT good. But lucky for me they out often around Seattle/Bellevue area.

The menu looked pretty authentic, so I was excited to order and dig into the $6 Food Walk special. The restaurant makes ordering easy: there's a kiosk right in the front for takeout, or for eat-in, there's a QR code to place an online order at each table. It's a pretty casual place, with self service water and bussing after the meal. Braised Pork Over Rice ($6) - The menu shows a picture of minced pork rice (滷肉飯), but this is actually braised pork belly rice (焢肉飯). They include two small pieces of pork belly, fatty and flavorful, braised until tender. There's half a braised egg, cooked homestyle (e.g. until there's a green ring around the yolk), which is quite flavorful just by itself, being marinated and braised for hours. Some pickled veggies helps cut through some of the fat. The special part of this dish is of course the meat juices and braising liquid that soaks to the rice. It adds a bit of a sweet and soy element as well as fat to help make the rice even more tender, yet not mushy. (4/5) The food I ate tasted pretty good, and the menu is interesting enough to revisit. Seems like Gourmet Noodle Bowl is another win on the Food Walk front! Note: They also offered a Food Walk $6 "Shin Ramen Bowl" special that I didn't get. Based on the name, is it just instant ramen?

First, the negatives that didn't affect my rating: parking is a pain, but that's expected for this neighborhood in Seattle. Seating is also very cramped and tight during the dinner rush. Annoying, yes, but understandable. What did affect the rating was the food itself. The Oreo brownie bingsu looked beautiful, but honestly it just was not very good. I've had much better bingsu elsewhere, even at chains like Snowy Village. It felt more Instagram-worthy than actually enjoyable. The mango cheesecake crepe was even worse. My friend and I literally scraped all the filling off and just ate the crepe itself because the toppings tasted so artificial. The mangoes tasted frozen, the syrup was overly sweet and processed tasting, and the whole thing lacked freshness. For the price, it was genuinely disappointing. The final bill ended up being over $40, which would have been easier to justify if the desserts were memorable, but they really weren't. One last thing: I don't mind tipping when there's actual service involved, but this is essentially counter service where customers are also expected to clear their own trays afterward. Having the tipping screen pop up at checkout after that experience just felt excessive and awkward.
