I was at home sick today, so I did an online order....except it didn't work for me. So I called in my order. The lady who answered the phone took my order, and gave me an estimated delivery time. One of the items I ordered was organic eggs, and I got a text that they were out, but they had regular large eggs. I said I'll take 'em. I know there is a nationwide egg shortage right now. I appreciate that they texted me a substitution. It sucked that I was sick, but I'm so happy they were able to take my orders and got me my groceries, when I was sick. Thank you, Byerly's! read more

Popped in for some quick to-go food and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of available! They have several food station with prepared hot food and there literally is something for everyone. There's tacos, breakfast, Asian, salad and comfort food (potatoes/gravy, Mac and cheese, etc). There also is a huge area for seating if you want to stay and eat there. The food was hot and delish and the cashier was super friendly. Def recommend! read more

This has become my 2nd favorite Lunds aside from the white bear one. It's always clean and I feel like it offer more high end products than the one in Roseville. I saw actual crab meat in container and the bakery section is my favorite. They have so many types of desserts and it's honestly shocking the amount of desserts they have. I always find what I need and love that the produce always looks good the times I've gone. I've had good encounters with staff and like that the parking lot is pretty big. read more

L&B still delivers on the same grocery items they always have, and this location isn't near too much competition so the turnover is usually high. That means better produce! read more

This review is only about the Bakery Dept: the only dept I visit. I cannot explain enough how Decorated Frosted Sugar Cookies are my addiction... I visit L&B regarily to see their newest cookie creations. EVERYTIME I stop by, if they do not have any boxed and frosted sugar cookies, they will hand frost me personally (not decorated). Service: Always amazing. I appreciate how everyone in their bakery have been flexible enough to stop what they are doing, baking and boxing, to frost me up a cookie for my addiction. Sometimes they have cookies frosted with something chocolate on it, and I do not like chocolate, and they will frost a new one jsut for me. Look at that service to support my addiction! I love to cook. I grew up with a prof of biochemistry dad who watched additives preservatives artificial color and food packaged in plastic WAY back in 1958. But I also fed my girls McDonalds Burger King and still buy some not all food in plastic containers. I love THIS Byerly's only. It's their rare long long time staff who greet you remember you and even care worry about their seniors ( and hv called family if ESP worried about some of their Senior 'regulars'). Sandra behind hot food is a HOOT. Wise cracking fun great for many years. Mary behind sliced cold cuts is a sweetheart . The managers of each dept bend over backwards to help you find what you need. This was THE ORIGINAL store. It stayed that way a long time, had a wonderful round counter where seniors nearby would happily breakfast and chatter together Think that is why this was one of the last stores to get modernized It had a great restaurant too. Even our daughter worked there. 2+ years ago they changed the cooking oil used for frying their chickens-- had a chemical non food after taste slight odor, impacted the flavor terribly and I called. They changed it a little, but it is still not as delicious as before. Pastries too changed. Oils used. Emulsifiers to thicken, flavor again impacted They stress zero trans fat which is fine, but their pastry cream flavors are now more artificial and their overall flavors are impacted 50 %-- all post renovation. I buy their behind the counter hot meals to go ( very good quality flavor value and excellent fresh cooked veggies), milk juice soda on sale, my favorite Renslers (sp?) frozen burritos are gone, magazines ice cream some canned products and excellent deli salads $$ olive bar, and cold cuts. Do not go to this Lunds . 1. The lady manager lets the employees control her I guess because they would walk out . I wanted a price check on jelly beans and the nasty little boy had a tantrum no I'm not checking the price , and the manager came to see what he was crying about , and she said to me the prices are on the product and they were not this was after I had a 200 dollar food order and I said fine keep your stuff because I wasn't lying and I wanted to know the price of something and I wasn't being unreasonable, also on the same day I bought some pasta and it said four for five dollars on the shelf, where the pasta had been and there no pastas at the location or close and had to say hey the pasta was $2.59 each, they should honored the price and they didn't want to check it or say they were at fault in any way and i finally had to say hey you keep the meat and stuff food hot food from your deli because i just found that so offensive and they use to be a great store with every thin in order but they went downhill. while I was in the store, I'm sure they invaded my privacy at the stores inland bank they told me my balance- how uncool- Like none of your beeswax. While or during I had been shopping in the store . 2. another time when I was with someone again a witness if you will, this store had drunks outside in the parking lot on Sunday and one of their lovely drunks walked buy our car and hit the window with a fist and attacked a lady walking to the store in Brod day light, we went to tell them and they didn't even care or apologize , The same women manager working again just awful, we called the police and reported someone in the parking lot and they had a gun or knife int eh middle of Sunday church rush terrible. 3. At Christmas time the employees ask for tips and expect them, and demanded one, they are not supposed to do that, again as usual several scams that say there's is a sale when it is on sale. and so, in was used to asking how much the items are that are on sale because they are not usually on sale false advertisement perhaps lots of it in this store it seems, but of course its my fault I didn't read the sign correctly wrong the other people with me confirm it , again the same women manager and i had been shopping with witness s others. Just a very disruptive disturbing experience, with bad customer service and management. many negatives floating around this crooked store have to fight for sale items and they refuse to honor them and its like keep everything crooks. other Lunds aren't nasty why is this one ? 4. Often times after shopping at this Lunds you will find that the products that were on sale were expired , I bought two mayo's for five dollars good deal a standard weekly sale, and I took it for granted they were ok n I made a pasta salad and used the mayo and it tasted bad and I'm a great cook down to an art even.- So I wondered how could this be and I looked at the mayo and it was expired , I just bought it a few days ago I thought to myself wow now I have to toss out thirty dollars' worth of food a stalk of celery 3 bucks a bc, a yellow or sweet onion 3 bucks pasta two bucks make that two 4 bucks ,special herbs and spices and other ingredients , this was our lunch's for the next week . do toss it all out and we had no lunch for the week .and 'was nothing I could do accept learn from it or is it except. its up to you really, which ever ,i can learn from this terrible experience always check the- e -dates at this lunds and when its expired do not buy it and return it if it is and don't Take any crap when they are now selling spoiled food perhaps on purpose . no time or employees to care . there has to be a fifth 5 and a sixth let me think about it , lets see ,oh yeah5- Now they usually have the best fresh fruits and veggies lately the Strawberrys are rotten and the blue berries and other veggies after you get them home about two days they are ready moldy and sour time for a return in fact I went to target bought two pound of Strawberrys$ 2.49- instead of $4.99 for rotten Strawberrys no running out of room I cant spend the entire day sharing my observation s and experinces . After shopping for there 50 years let's call it. I only say this once every 30 years or so, I really mean it. Liquor store was so stingy, about empty boxes, that I will never darken their door again. Never mind the 30 years of business they got from us but I let them know any way. Give away empty boxes when asked. It's just good customer service Shopped for hot bar at Byerly's last 12 years, and that was expensive, but good. Joined the loyalty program, got $5 back. So, I guess I see what loyalty gets you here. Byerly's is a great grocery store, but I cannot afford to do all of my shopping here. I typically like to come here for a quick grocery pick up or for some quality produce during the frequent BOGO sales. This store is very clean and well set up. There is a full scale bakery, and ready to go foods and cheese shop. My favorite about Lunds markets, is their daily deals. I find myself stopping in here frequently for $5 rotisserie chicken on Fridays. The deals haven't seemed to ever change, so I will list them: Wednesdays - $4.99 sushi (select items) Thursdays - $4.99 flower bouquets Fridays - $4.99 rotisserie chicken Sundays - $5 Big Bowl Bonus-This location has a Red Box, a bank (can't remember name), Caribou Coffee, Big Bowl inside, self-checkouts and they will walk out your groceries for you! read more

This is a really weird Byerly's. It's small. It's carpeted. It's oddly laid out. While the cashiers are great, I find that the employees at the deli and in other parts of the store are aloof and annoyed when you ask them a question. The one thing this location does have going for it, besides location, is the humongous prepared foods section. If you make use of grocery stores' grab and go type food offerings, this store could be your favorite in the area. But for me, I find shopping here weird and not really enjoyable. I would rather drive further to the nicer Byerly's in Plymouth than shop here on most days. I will say, however, that their cheese selection is spectacular and their bakery is excellent. read more

Why does great service come as such a surprise when we receive it? This place does it right - everyone is so friendly and seems genuinely interested in helping. The butcher spent several minutes chatting with my husband about different cuts of steak and their ratings. I wandered over to produce, and the man stocking the fruit leaned in close like he was giving only me the tip on the special price of peaches and berries. While Byerly's is clearly more expensive than say Cub, there were enough deals today to help me forget all that ($1 bags of carrots, $1/lb on fresh peaches). The store is beautiful, and even though it's under construction in one part, it was very clean and orderly. The two young ladies helping us check out were less talkative and clearly less interested in being there, but weren't rude. The whole experience was very refreshing. I wish more places would take the queue - customer service isn't that difficult, but makes all the difference. I won't shop any other grocery store. read more

The reason why I prefer Byerly's over Whole Foods is because their self-serve "hot bar" is incomparably better. It's always stocked with staples like fried chicken and mashed potatoes, but you will also find briskets, egg rolls, fried fish, and other goodies. Their salad bar is decent too, and they have dessert selections as well. If you're looking for something different, they also have traditional delis featuring comfort foods, sandwiches, and pastas. On a recent trip back to the Twin Cities, I went to one of my favorite grocery stores when I lived there-Byerly's. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was! I found SEVERAL items on the shelves which were OUTDATED! I couldn't believe it. NOT what I would ever expect from Byerly's. I also made the mistake of trying their restaurant one morning. Little did I know that they had changed it from a sit-down with servers - to a buffet. By the time we got through the line and paid the per pound charge and then sat down, the hot food was ice cold. I used to think that Lunds & Byerly's stores were overpriced until I moved to a home near the Golden Valley Byerly's. I have found that they have great specials especially the BOGO promotions where several items are buy one get one free. The produce is fresh and vibrant and unmatched by any other local grocer except perhaps Whole Foods. The staff and service is fantastic, if I have trouble finding an item, they don't just give me an aisle number, they stop what they are doing and walk me to the item even if I inists that I'm fine with them just pointing me in the right direction. When they recenlty had a promotion, the cashier asked me why I didn't have their special of Bellatoria Pizzas fro $1.99 each, I said I didn't know about it and he said well you ought to go back and grab a few because the sale is today only. I'm sure this was meant to be a get you in the door item and they took or loss or made very little on me buying the pizza even though I was already at the checkout. I'm always happy to pay a little more for great service and I'm finding when I happen to stop at other grocery stores that the prices aren't all that different and teh service I get at Byerly's is far superior to what I find elsewhere. read more

Came here after three rivers park, looking for something to eat around 8 pm. Totally revamped from last time I was here, and a great improvement. Lots of prepared food. Like a mini food court. Too bad most of it was closed, leaving us with a limp salad bar and almost no hot foods. read more

I will never again visit this location. They should consider themselves lucky that it's nearly impossible to file a complaint to the MDH (in terms of finding the right contact and then jumping person to person). I went through their salad bar selection and what I found was truly disgusting. The green bell peppers were rot; slimy bruised mush. All someone had to do was look at them and see how gross they were, I physically gagged. The confused guy behind me had no idea what was going on when I scooped a few out, placed them on the lid of my salad container to confirm my suspicions. The peppers almost seemed to melt with the slightest pressure, and the slime smelled awful. I told the guy behind me they were bad and to avoid them, he thanked me and said he wouldn't have even bothered to check and just dumped them on his salad. I threw my lid out and left. The fact that they were so visibly bad but still filled to the brim just before lunch rush (I went to get mine at around 11:30) is very concerning. There are plenty of meats, eggs, and veggies on their spread that can cause serious harm if not stored and handled properly. This is completely shameful, so much so I made a yelp account to say something about it. Now that I see the other reviews of expired products, I don't really need anymore reasons. I'd rather drive a few extra minutes north to Cub to grab a quick lunch for work then ever stop at this Byerly's again. read more

Either someone explains to the sushi "chef" here that the fish in nigiri is not supposed to drop off the rice at the slightest touch of the chopstick, or they stop hiring kitchen personel who practice cooking by numbers. The guy is always springing out of nowhere asking if there's anything special he can do for you, which is nice, but if he cared half as much for cuisine as he does for chatting up the patrons and co-workers, life would be a hell of a lot better for all parties involved. I get it, Byerlys isn't a high-end restaurant, but the brand is pretentious enough it could use higher standards and less hot air. read more

When I moved to Golden Valley and thought WOW, I live just two blocks away; I was excited. But excitement has led to extreme disappointment. Old food, surly service, incompetent management, and don't look for anything exotic or foreign (except for frozen or canned Mexican) because it doesn't exist there. This is American "corporate" food at its worse. It seems like every time I go there they're out of something - like fresh parsley? They never even heard of paneer cheese much less have it. And no bulk section, so one can get the freshest food in the quantity they need. Everything in this store is packaged. And 99 cents for two pieces of separately wrapped slices of bread? They are just ripping-off the nearby assisted-living and elderly in the neighborhood. I now find myself getting in the car and going to the Rainbow at West End where the shelves are stocked with great, fresh food with a huge variety. Yes, they have paneer cheese and it seems like everything is less expensive. Now, I only go to Byerly's when I run out of milk or need half and half for my coffee. This Byerly's is a huge disappointment on many levels. It's too bad. It could be a lovely community asset. Instead, it's just a rip-off. read more

Visit Byerlys Creations this noon. The cafetaria style place is new as part of the Byerlys Golden Valley after they have done with the renovation. The place was packed with people. Alot of choices. From rotisserie, salads, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, chinese big bowl, dessert, what else? hmm...you name it probably they carry them. Particularly I want to highlight their apple pecan cheesecake yum yum..not to sweet not to cheesy it just right. the apple and pecan came in the right amount. For entree was fried rice and thai curry chicken from big bowl, they were good to, like homemade and not have a taste like from fast food style meal. Overall I like this place. Quick, lots of choices, reasonable price. read more

Stopping at store on way home at night would get 5 stars. Get what I came for with no problem. Now stopping at store on way to work is another matter. Several times I have stopped to get some breakfast at the serve yourself bar. It is supposed to be out by 7:00 am. Well it is almost always late. Today I stopped at 7:10 and nothing was out. I asked one employee and he went to find out. He came back and said " Their working on it. Be a few minutes. " Now I cannot wait any longer or I will be late to work. Not enough time left to stop anywhere else. Lesson for me is I will never stop in morning again at Byerlys. Too many other places to get breakfast. read more

Absolutely love their gluten free pasta that they make in their pizza/pasta area in their deli. Rich always makes it the same way and is super awesome at his job!!! How many ways can you make chicken taste off, dry or otherwise suspect? Probably more than two, but Byerly's had at least two of those ways down *pat* yesterday; in the salad and in the soup. That mysterious "ugh" you may have heard in the open air of Saint Louis Park yesterday was me being utterly unimpressed with my lunch at Byerly's. I should be clear--this review refers ONLY to the food court lunch service, NOT the grocery store itself (which is beautiful and spacious and newly remodeled and among my favorites). I hesitate to give this just one star because: --The food court is new, clean, spacious and offers a wide variety of foods. --I didn't try *everything* of course, and what I didn't try was a significantly large portion of the food. There could have been a lot of good. I hate to be so negative. --They were playing kicky flapper-style music from the 20's/30's. And that was pretty darned awesome. But what I did eat kept me at one star alone: --The salad bar: I had a pretty normal iceberg lettuce salad. It was build-your-own, so I guess no one forced me to put any ingredients on it. . . but the cukes were slimy (as they can get in salad bars) and the chicken strips were inedible (fried dry and hard--almost like smoked-style chicken on the inside--and very chewy). The vinaigrette dressing was fine, lettuce was fine, tomatoes were even okay. The bacon crumbles were real bacon, but *incredibly salty* and had a significant portion of chewy bacon fat crumbles mixed in with the meat. --The fresh fruit: The blueberries were good, cantaloupe and honeydew melons both good, but the watermelon shouldn't have been used (overripe and rubbery--like it had been soaking in its own juice for a long time), the pineapple was oddly slimy, and most of the grapes were soft and crushed. --The yogurt and granola: Actually, this was good. :) --The chicken chili: I LOVE chicken chili. I will have it anywhere I go. Oh Byerly's--how could you let me down so!? Despite the soup tureen being almost full-to-the-top, it was mostly liquid. I dug out the chicken, peppers and beans--but it was a battle. Logistical difficulties aside, the soup was . . . just not right in the flavor department. It had a slight spice to it...but it wasn't "hot" or "spicy" that one could define. It was like it had *no* flavor. This is coming from a gal with a solid Scandinavian salt-is-a-spice palate. Maybe it needed more salt, but it seemed salty enough. The chicken was dry and, again, chewy. The beans were. . . Well, there were no beans. I had about one and a half in a large cup of soup. To top it off, the meal was pretty expensive for what I got. And it didn't taste good or even *right*. Perhaps they were having an off day, or I didn't pick the right items. Also: a note on the utensils. I commend Byerly's for committing to eco-utensils and bowls. However, I found the biodegradable spoons and forks intolerably gritty--like what you were eating was dirty...but it wasn't, it was just the texture of the spoon/fork. I would have liked to have had other options readily available. This, granted, may not bother some at all--and surely the sustainability of the objects overrides a minor discomfort--but you have been warned! read more

I shop here almost everyday! Because I am a food freak I need everything fresh - this is what I get! I do not find them over priced for the quality. I have been to Cub & Rainbow and at one store at the check out line we realized the chicken was old and smelled - another I got home to cut open a green pepper to find mold. This has never happened at Byerly's Lund's. The customer service is awesome - Todd the General Manager always greets me when I see him. read more

I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with the Lunds takeover. Ever since they merged its been bad for the customer. I am a long time Byerlys customer. Over 30 years. I used to work at this location as a kid. Levi would be so angry if he saw his store now. We took pride in what we did for the customer. We used to enjoy fresh meats cut by the butcher. Now, its pre packaged and pre-frozen fish. And when they did butcher the hamburger it changed at the takeover. The meat was not the same. No flavor and the meat actually bleed the color out after a short time in my fridge. Hey, we noticed the pink slime like product you put in what used to be really good fresh ground chuck. The meat department has a clear stink to it now. It per"meat"ed the entire store. I had to walk out last week since the smell was overwhelming. From the indoor...stopped a second...walked out the exit. The prepackaged hamburger is the last straw for me. Lets fill it with old chuck and a cup of salt water...oh so appetizing. I should not have to drain my hamburger. Hey, where is the 80/20 hamburger? Then lets make the deli meat department all one price. Get rid of a lot of products and stuff as much paper as we can between the deli cheese slices. Stroll over to the vegetable department. On the shelf the product looks wrinkly and dried out. Soft to the touch on most occasions when it should not be. Be careful to not to trip on the crap now sitting on the floor slowly being ground into the carpet. Then complete the experience with a employee that used to be smiling and happy are now demoralized looking and sad. Complain to a manager who is only waiting for you to go away. Placating you by telling you that she will send it down to corporate with a apathetic apology. I do not blame the manager I spoke to. Clearly, she has heard this a lot lately and is powerless to tell corporate the customers are not happy. HEY CORPORATE THIS CUSTOMER IS NOT HAPPY read more
