Been having numbness/tingling/burning in my arm for two years due to muscle knots and tightness. It has gotten progressively worse and has finally become unbearable. Found Lupe on Yelp a year ago and made an appointment, but had to cancel because I got sick. Rescheduled, then got sick again and had to reschedule. FINALLY made it in for a Myofascial Release massage. Lupe was very warm and welcoming. The office space was clean. We briefly talked about what I was looking for from the massage. Not gonna lie, mine was a bit painful but I knew that going into it. Breaking down muscle knots is always painful, but Lupe was very attentive and respectful. She asked if it was okay to use CBD rub, and she asked if the pressure was okay or too much. She let me know what she was doing and why ("I'm going to do X, it helps loosen the muscle so I can work on it"), which I appreciated a lot. At times it also felt kind of like a Chiro visit in the sense that I think she did active release stretching and moving my arm, which reaaaally helped get under my shoulder blade and also stretched muscles and knots that I didn't even know were tight. She shared some stretches and things I could do at home to help continue breaking down the knots to help improve my pain. It's been a couple hours now and my body feels so much better. I'm not 100%, but I'm not constantly numb and in pain like I was before. My muscles are a little sore, which is normal, but also they feel more loose and relaxed. I had surgery the previous year and don't have much movement in my arms just yet. She was able to listen and know what she couldn't do with me and not to push things. She even recommended hot stones for next time since she is unable to do as much as I'd like. Even though she couldn't do as much, she was still pretty firm and strong which I greatly appreciated. I came to see Lupe to get a prenatal massage at 35 weeks pregnant. She did not disappoint! She has a room in a little shop off of Peralta. There was plenty of parking behind so that wasn't a problem. Lupe was friendly and pleasant from the very beginning. I immediately felt comfortable and had a great experience. We did talk during the massage but it was natural and had some comfortable silences. I know not everyone wants to talk during a massage and she certainly seems like she'd be able to read that vibe or you could simply just say you'd love to relax and not talk. Lupe has been helping me for the past 9-10 months with my frozen shoulder(adhesive capsulitis). Anyone that has experienced this knows it is a long-lasting and painful dehabilitating condition(1-3 years). My right arm was almost glued to my side. Any sudden motions of the arm or hand would give me excruciating pain. I could not sleep more than 2 hours without waking up in pain. Medication, heat and ice were my best friends. Previously, I tried acupuncture, ART, and physical therapy. Nothing was helping! I started seeing Lupe after trying PT on my frozen shoulder. I was in the process of doing an MUA (manipulation under anesthesia) but decided to go the natural route. Lupe is amazing. She always helps my pains to get better within one session. I feel she has x-ray vision and magic hands! There was a situation once when when I was having intense back spasms, and my PCP prescribed muscle relaxants, which made the issue worse. After struggling for 1-2 weeks even with medication, Lupe was able to fix it in one session, since the spasms seemed to have been caused by extremely tight muscles, and it didnt need medication. Well, sometimes you just don't know how much you are hurting until someone relieves the pain. I have been going to Lupe for a couple of years now and each time I go, she just amazes me. I have Achilles tendonitis and it is very painful. Lupe can't fix that necessarily, but she showed me how my compensating for the weak heel was creating a ton of tightness in my other calf. Between the relief of my calf tightness, my hamstrings and of course my back and neck, I walked out a new man. I can't imagine only a handful of massage therapists that would be her equal. Seriously.
