I have been to many other massage places in the area and after years of looking for the right place I finally found it and this is where I will keep coming. Ella and Mia are absolutely life savers. I suffer from chronic pain from a near fatal car accident 40 years ago. Here I get the help I need to feel better. I always show them what areas I need them to focus on. When they start working on me it's very clear that from their years of experience, they very quickly know exactly what is going on in my body, and they know exactly how to loosen me up and relieve my pain. I let them know what level of pressure I like in each place through out the process. What areas to do a little extra or go back to later. The important thing is communication. I get a great therapeutic massage at a very fair price every time. When I walk out I am so happy, it feels like a miracle for me to be pain free. I love that when I pay in cash I save a little money. If they do not have to pay the extra percentage to the credit card company, then they do not charge you for it. Wow! I love that when I pay for a 90 minute massage, I actually get a full 90 minutes of massage, or even a little more some times. They are very thorough and want you to feel good. We went there on my husband's birthday and our experience was really great. I had the Swedish massage and my husband had the deep tissue massage. It was very relaxing and we will definitely go back again. Mia was the one who gave me my massage and it was amazing. She removed all the knots in my back. I had no muscle pains after the massage. I made an appointment with them for a 30 minute massage over the phone. They were very accommodative and helped squeeze me in last minute. The lady who seemed like the manager of the place insisted on paying in cash (which was fine, but she seemed a little too insistent). Apparently what you pay for 30 minutes is not enough, and the staff does expect a pretty hefty tip afterwards, so be prepared. My sciatica was acting up to the point I was walking with a limp and my leg hurt all the way to my lower back and butt. So I really needed a great massage to help the soreness and pain. Tried to make an appointment at a short notice and asked for Mia, she wasn't available but recommended Jenny for a deep tissue massage. Again i went with the recommendation and was not disappointed. Jenny speaks just enough english to ask & understand if there are particular pain points or if the pressure is ok, but the massage was excellent. she has a good technique, found and kneaded all knots and didn't rush through any parts. This place has been here since 2007 and I never even heard of it. My wife and I were off and I was looking for a place to get a massage for the both of us. Looking around yelp, I came across Newark Excellent Massage and wanted to support something local. I completed the online request form and was contacted rather quickly. While on the phone, we talked about the massage, price and together agreed to a time. As soon as my wife and I arrived in the lobby, I seen a gamer chair at the front desk, decor that had many different themes, and it made me wonder if I am at the right place. Somebody came out to greet us and asked us to take a seat while they were preparing the rooms. I requested different rooms because my wife knows I can get chatty. They walked us to our rooms and asked us to get undressed and lie face down. My masseuse was fantastic. She found all of my pain areas and worked out all of the knots. It was a little painful but my body felt so relaxed after. My wife felt the same way and we were so pleased with our massages. My wife wants to make this a monthly visit. Check this place out. We will likely go back. And when you go, don't let the lobby deceive you, your body will get a very good massage and sleep so well that night. read more

One of the worst places I ever been! They don't honor the appointment time and ask to wait for 45 mins to one hour. This has happened 3 times already. The lady that takes appointments is not sorry at all and simply says she did a mistake - the same mistake 3 times!! Mia and team were great. We have now gone twice and can report for both instances money really well spent. It's a massage treatment. A little discomfort goes a long way after all the tension and knots are worked out. I tend to prefer going hard! You feel rewarded afterwards. You have to appreciate this place for what it is and what they offer. It's not a high end spa with calming decor. If you want a Swedish massage you have to look elsewhere. It's nestled in a small business office has decor that doesn't appeal to our aesthetic. Music sounds like it's playing from a 90s boom box and there is a fair amount of good conversation throughout the massage. As an athlete and admitted tennis fanatic, I have a 30-year history with injuries, rehab and yes, massage. I've experienced all types of massage including Shiatsu, myofascial release, deep tissue, acupressure, Thai and others. Although COVID kept me away from massage for over a year, it didn't stop me from playing tennis, getting tight, pulling a muscle and aggravating old injuries. When I finally felt comfortable visiting a massage studio again, I was in search of someone to help me get back on track and undo a year's worth of damage to my body. The positive reviews are true. I've absolutely found what I needed at Newark Excellent Massage which is why I'm taking the time to write this review. I don't write many reviews and they're all long. For me, massage is a partnership. I need a partner who is caring, skilled and effective. I start with caring because I've learned you get far better results when you combine care with skill. I've definitely found that partnership at this tiny place off the beaten path. Caring doesn't just mean they're nice either. It means they ask me how the last massage worked when I come back. It means they're offering advice for what I can do on my own to improve health. It means they're attentive to the whole experience from the time I walk in until I leave. They're also human beings which is refreshing after a year of COVID lockup. Being caring works together with being skilled. As a fairly big guy and an athlete, I need a STRONG massage. You can't break up the adhesions and knots without putting in work. However, no one wants unnecessary pain. They are great at being curious with my body and finding exactly what is needed and applying the necessary pressure without ignoring how my body is responding. That takes skill. Therapeutic massage isn't for everyone, but it is a sign of great skill that will apply to more relaxing types of massage as well. Ultimately, the proof is in the results. In only a few visits, I was able to undo months of tightness and eliminate my fear of an Achilles tear. I am walking without hip pain for the first time in over a year. My recovery time from tennis is not yet like it was in my 20s, but it's much faster than I'd gotten used to. I am by no means "healed", but my partner and I are progressively working together to optimize my health. Not the experience I wanted. The two women talked too much, kept pushing me to spend more and sign up for more days. Cindy kept asking me where the pain was throughout the massage and I kept repeating myself over and over. The other woman walked in while I was on the table without knocking which was unprofessional and rude, then started asking million questions including where are you from. What did that have to do with anything? I finally had to ask if I could have some quiet. I'm very disappointed with my whole experience with this place. It started with my husband calling and setting an appointment for 5. When we got there we had to wait a solid 10-15 minutes while one lady tried to figure out what to do. Turns out they didn't have enough people to take care of both my husband and I. They told us one of us would need to start and the other one would need to wait 20 minutes for someone else. Once my massage started I was highly disappointed. My massage was painful without much adjusting from my therapist. There was also the issue of many people kept calling or interrupting our session. Once I was done I had to sit and wait an extra 20 and close to the time my husband was done one of the ladies started to demand for a tip. I told her my husband had our card so I couldn't pay yet. She really pushed for gratuity even once my husband came out. My husband notified her that he had to pay more than what they notified him the price would be. Fantastic hot stone massage with Kelly! Excellent pressure, same day appointment, and reasonable pricing. There is parking around the back (one way in, one way out) so just slow down and you'll see it driving in on Thornton before the building. The entrance is nearer to the back parking than the street. Massage was good but they were rushing! I give this place a one star bcus they made me tip more than what i was going to. I was going to tip 15, when the lady said no i HAD to tip 40. I was upset bcus she said it demandingly and very rude. I don't remember where it said tips were mandatory. She brought up on how we tip at restaurants so we have to tip at massages too?? Times are hard so obviously i was upset i had to pay $40 for a $60 massage. Unbelievable dont come here unless you want to be forced to tip. read more

I highly recommend Cindy! She did an amazing job with her very strong hands working out all of my knots and strains. She asked where I was experiencing the most strain and soreness, and focused on those areas. I felt like I was walking on clouds when leaving. My entire body felt so light and relieved like a huge amount of stress was lifted off of me. They are a bit greedy! It's been a few years since I've been back here. Little gem and love supporting an all women's business. Massage was great and the ladies who worked on me knew where my "stress" spots were. In the middle of the massage, the manager (maybe?) got up and helped someone else, leaving me with another masseuse to finish up. This was a bit unprofessional, but what choice did I have? When leaving, the two ladies seemed upset about something on their phone and was sort of ignoring me. I'm a very generous tipper & when they saw what I was tipping them, they said that both of them worked on me, suggesting I give them more $. I was a bit shocked & surprised (& a bit pissed) since I didn't ask for 2 women to work on me and I tipped more than enough (20%) for their services. They just shook their head and went back to their phone. A bit disappointed in their greediness! I will have to think about going back because I didn't feel valued.
