Literally the worst service always. On three separate occasions my drink and my wife's drink were left completely empty for over 15 minutes while server after server went by. Our server was asked repeatedly for refills and we still never got them. On one occasion we were sat and weren't acknowledged for at least 10 minutes. During this occasion we saw another patron wait just as long and got fed up and left. Also we had to wait an additional 10 minutes for chips and salsa while all the tables around us were taken care of. It almost made me think our server was being racist as I'm black and the other patron that walked out was black, but it seems the server is just incompetent. My wife has a gluten allergy and the server never cares to check if her food is prepared properly. If the food is contaminated we're left waiting over 10 minutes for the server to finally return and check on us. Management doesn't seem to care as we've had the same awful server on multiple occasions and he's not done any better. read more

I will never understand how anyone can give this amazing restaurant less than four stars. I guess some people just can wait for good food. The food here is prepared fresh and you can taste it! The salsa is fresh with just enough heat for anyone to enjoy. The homemade tortillas are so good you can eat them with by themselves. The margaritas are zesty and strong. Lupe's is a center of Tex-Mex excellence among a sea of imitators. I recommend the Taco Meat Queso and the Chicken Lupe. You so can't go wrong with any fajita choice. Typically this location is pretty good. Tonight, however, was AWFUL. One server took our drink order, then another showed up to take our drink order again. That was the first red flag... we ordered and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally got chips and salsa. Didn't have drinks yet, so we sat there looking at the chips and salsa. Drinks finally came, along with the queso and quacamole we had ordered. Our drinks sat empty as did the basket of chips for 10 minutes - long enough for the queso to form a film and get cold as I watched it, wishing to eat it but... nothing available to scoop it out or drink. Food took longer than expected, considering it was just rice, beans, flour tortillas and a quesadilla (seems like the simplest things on the menu, really). Food tasted good (thankfully!!!!) and we finished eating (I was out of water again and never did get a refill - it wasn't offered and I didn't see the server to ask for more). I had my card out, ready to pay, for TWENTY MINUTES and didn't ever see the server. I finally put cash on the table to cover the bill and I got up to leave. I stopped in at the hostess station to let them know of the situation. The hostess herself said that she had seen us sitting there, me with my card in hand ready to pay. The manager, instead of any apology or what-not, went to find the server. So here we are WAITING SOME MORE. What?????? The server brought the check up; it was actually over billed, but I most certainly wasn't going to wait longer for the manager to come back. Funny how he went to get the server then DISAPPEARED himself! I have never been so poorly treated at a restaurant and this is likely to keep me away from the Lupe location. I'll go to Hwy 6. Get it together, people. It wasn't even "busy" (i.e. there was not wait to be seated...... just a 40 minute altogether wait without drinks, food, or a bill. read more

Our waiters name is Luis. He's been working here for 3yrs he's very nice. So far it's going pretty well. We ordered beef and chicken fajitas. The complementary chips and salsa are great but it also came with this been deep that has meat in it pretty Damn tasty but I prefer the salsa also we ordered some queso for dipping. It's pretty darn packed in this restaurant. The parking lot is so packed that finding a spot was almost like trying to find Waldo lol. Our waiter Luis is an AMAZING, HANDSOME, FRIENDLY waiter. I HIGHLY SUGGEST asking for him if your dining in. Louis is very attentive. His conversation is great but not overbearing. Although the restaurant was extremely busy and Luis had plenty of tables he was waiting. He still was quite calm and made us laugh all at the same time. He has no problem explaining dishes that you don't understand, and he's handsome ok ok I know I said it before but he is! The food came out in a timely manner, the drinks were perfect. And we enjoyed ourselves. We couldn't finish all the food we ordered for two it was way too much but hey I'm not complaining. Leftovers:) I'm sure Luis will love his tip he deserved it. I am appalled!!!! We are sitting here having dinner and my husband ordered the burrito dish and when it arrived it lacked flavor and was just down right awful. Our nice waiter David called the manager Roberto to our table and my husband let him know how bad the dish was but how great our waiter was and he then said I will just order something else. The manager said NO you will be charged for whatever you change it too and the burrito. And we stated but we are not going to eat a dish that is bad and he said I don't want to argue you pay for both dishes. So we then said take back the burrito and take it off and we are leaving. So he took the burrito and said that's fine.!!!!!! Our server David apologized when the manager left and told us that they normally make the servers pay for food that customer don't like if something is sent back. It has been forever since I went to a Lupe Tortilla, and honestly the first time was meh. This plus to LT for me is the vegetarian menu, which did not disappoint. I had the veggie fajitas and they were great. I honestly can't remember what everyone else had, but I was very happy and impressed with the veggie options. They also have a great sandy play area for kids. It has these plastic push "roller coaster" rides and other fun things for kids to do while they wait for their food. A maze like interior, busy service and over hyped specials. First time I've visited the famous Lupe's, all on the stories of the beef fajitas. Inside looks like pee wee's play house, all colors, pathways leading every where, needing gps navigation. The beef fajitas are over cooked, doused with too much lime. Which gives it a jerk like texture similar to Caribbean dish's. Then it has an accompaniment of wok sized tortillas. Satellite dish, UFO, Chris Farley, you can make a burrito big, giant 2 hand operation sized wraps. Decent food, but not worth $20 an entree, maybe $8-9. "Es Pretty Expensive" I have always liked the food at Lupe Tortilla and it has been consistently good at all the locations that I have been to. We used to go to the one on 59 a lot. However we now live in Katy and have been going to the one on Grand Parkway. Lately it seams that every time we go the prices have increased. It is probably one of the more expensive tex-mex restaurants in the area. My daughter ordered the cheese enchilada dinner. When it arrived at the table we discovered that it didn't come with rice or beans. The only thing on the plate were 3 of the smallest enchiladas that I have seen. I didn't try them but she said they were chewy and tasted like they had been microwaved. Not a great value at 8 bucks. This is probably the only meal that we have had from Lupe Tortilla that has been a disappointment. I had the Tacos al Carbon. The beef is the way to go, had a great flavor with a hint of lime. The rice and beans were good as well. The frozen margaritas are solid. No complaints about my meal. For dessert we had the Sopapillas, they came with 2 scopes of vanilla ice cream. It was very good but could of used more honey, only a tiny bit was on the plate under the sopapillas. We also had a piece of Tres Leches, it was great. This place is always packed for a reason. Houston's best Tex-Mex. Everything from the chips and Salas, to dinner is amazing. If you like Fajitas this is your go to place. And if you haven't tried them, you don't know what your missing out on. The beef is marinated like no other. Has a nice hint of lime flavor to it. The meat is always tender and full of flavor. I literally won't try anything else because I would hate to waste a trip to Lupe and not get Beef fajitas. As always service is spot on. They get you in and out with a full belly and big smile. Let me start by saying that the hostess, a tall dark haired Hispanic woman is super rude. She sees you walk in and doesn't even greet you. We ordered the fajitas and usually always do but we won't anymore. The fajitas are way over cooked here to the point that they are charcoaled! They also have a lot of fat on them, very greasy. The flower tortillas are ok, they are super thin and too big plus they taste very doughy and I don't know why. I have also reached out to corporate to express my experience and they never reached out to me, very unprofessional of them. I prefer Pappasitos over this place. Their flour tortillas are homemade and more authentic. Their fajitas are cooked just right and not fatty at all. If you haven't tried Pappasitos, you're missing out! The food is good but what on earth is happening with the dessert situation and management!? When you first walk into the restaurant there is an ice cream cooler to your right. Inside is one of my favorite ice cream bars, the Choco Taco. I had the waitress add one to my bill and she said just to grab it on the way out. Well turns out the ice cream cooler is locked and only a manager can open it. Needless to say I waited over five minutes and no manager showed up at which point I decided to leave without my Choco taco. Enjoy the last $1.39 you will ever get from me. Complete chaos and confusion. If you can't trust your front of house to deal out $1.39 ice cream sandwiches you should probably not be in management. Empower your workers to make the customer happy. This location is not the same as other Lupe locations. They do not have the vegetarian options that other locations have such as Mushroom Lupe nor vegetarian black beans. I got the veggie fajitas and they had no flavor. It's hard to mess up charred vegetables to me, except they did by not using enough (or any) salt, pepper, nor the good lime marinade that other locations use in the veggie fajitas, and also did not char properly. The top shelf margaritas were also not good, and Lupe margaritas are one of my favorites. Water even tasted bad. My dining mate got a normal Tex Mex combo plate and also complained about lack of seasoning and that the rice was hard due to being undercooked and was inedible. Chips and salsa were good but the server took away the chips without asking while I was still eating the entree and still had plenty salsa. I like to always go back for chips even once I have my entree but I guess he thought I had enough. I took my wife here about a week ago for a quick meal. It was toward the end of the night and we were among the last to leave. We were seated and the waiter took our order and it seemed to take a while before our meal came out. We order the fajitas for two and it was more than enough. They were sizzling when they arrived and plenty of extras to go with them. We also had a couple of margaritas and they were fixed nice and strong. The only complaint I had was that our waiter seemed to forget we had to pay our bill. We had to get someone to go and find him as they weer doing their pre close setup. I'm not from Texas, but I was visiting my mom here when she suggested we go here, the day after Christmas. We sat at the bar, and it took about 10 minutes for anyone to even given us menus. Then another 10 minutes go by and no one came out to take our order, so I flagged down a server to order drinks. My mom and sister ordered strawberry margaritas, and the server gave us skinny margaritas (which they didn't ask for) . We then ordered queso for our chips and found a hair . My mom then asked for the manager who came out and comped out queso (thank you!). Our server was Rogelio, and we spent a ridiculous amount of time waiting for our menus, and our drinks. First time trying out this place. Brought the hubby for his birthday yesterday and was very impress by the how well the maintain the restaurant, super clean, they have an outdoor and indoor seating. David provided exceptional service and was very informative about their menu. They offer keto meals as well. We order their Fajita Mix and they were very tasty, tortillas are huge and handmade which adds that extra Mexican style welcoming. Margaritas are good but a bit strong. Service will vary, depends of your server, normally they are pretty good, of course there is always exception as the last time, but never mind won't spoiled a good service in general for one bad apple I had in my last visit. My fajitas as good as always, the best of this place for me it is the playground, love the idea or actually the in fact that I can enjoy a drink while my kid is playing with other kids in a very nice sand place where they can have fun! Be aware to have a change of clothes or you will take a naked kid into the car at less you don't mind to get the car dirty! Love the food here...and the margaritas. But man, I tell ya, we went by in the afternoon one weekend hoping to let our 16 month old son play by the patio and all of the kids there were just running a muck. I mean being just a little bit too rowdy which is whatever but they were filling up buckets of water and making mud out of the sand...just getting it everywhere. And when my son did try to walk about the big kids almost looked offended that someone would even think of invading their territory. Of course all of the parents around who presumably had kids playing there didn't seem to care much that it was a little out of control. Unfortunately the service matched the playground experience...I did manage to get a margarita brought to me but because of the extended wait to take our food order and the chaos on the patio I just dropped cash on the table to cover the drink plus tip and we bolted. Ended up heading to another Mexican food joint down the road who also had a patio playground for the kids but the experience there was MUCH better. If you don't have kids to worry about then eat inside...you'll get some good food and hopefully the quality of service with increase proportionally with the decrease in distance from the kitchen. I love Lupe Tortilla. It is my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant. I am a looooong time patron of the original location, where I have been frequenting with my family for as long as I can remember. So, with that being said... The Good - I LOVE that this place looks and feels similar to the original location. It's part of Lupe's charm. It also has a sand pit, just like the original, for the kids to play in. The Not So Good - I pretty much always get the same thing - tacos al carbon, beef. This was honestly, the most disappointing meal I've had at a Lupe Tortilla. My tacos al carbon was too salty, had less meat, the tortillas were a little soggy and seemed thicker than usual, and just didn't have quite the same level of deliciousness that I've come to know and expect. For example, I asked for my ground beef enchilada to be on flour instead of corn and they refused(a very hard no at that). Since that's what I normally get at all the other locations, I didn't know what to get. So I said I will try a soft taco. Not knowing if I would like it, I got ONE a la carte. They said these was ok to do yet I ended up being charged half a plate ($9 for one taco). If you are a Lupe person, do not come here. AND after the overcharge you, they do NOT accept the rewards card. Go a few miles up to the Echo Lane location. read more

Once again I've had a very good visit to Lupe Tortilla. Though the experience was different and also why the elusive 5 stars by me has yet to be given here. On my last visit here the food was off the hook, but the service was just off a bit, but nothing to bad. Today, just the opposite we had a wonderful young lady called Reignie ( pronounced Rainy ), I asked because I did not know how to. Her service was great , friendly. Our drinks were kept full, chips the same way. Our order came out perfect and in good time. I recommend asking for her area if you go. So why not a five with the great service, here we go: Chips & salsa ( with charro beans too) 4 stars. Main dish Enchiladas 5 stars Chicken soft taco 3 stars Rice 3 stars Beans 3 stars.
