I had the green sauced cheese enchiladas which were very good. Our waiter was nice and attentive. We were just in for lunch so I didn't go overboard or have drinks but it's good solid food. I like the menu in sugarland as it has a few different items from the standard mexican menu- but it is always packed. The food was good here and came out fast. The service started out good but at the end was horrible. Then waitresses started talking about my group and I. She was wanting us to hurry up and leave so she can clean and leave. They close at 9:00pm and it was only 8:00 She was talking about us in Spanish not knowing we are Hispanic. She was also talking about us right in-front of the manager with other employees . When I ask for the manger and told him he acted like he didn't hear her and was acting like she wouldn't have said that. He seem like he was just pushing it off and didn't seem to care. He never once said sorry for the way we felt rush and how upset we were. Don't waste your time coming here... the hostess have no idea how to host. With the whole social distance and mask they were putting groups of 2 people at 6 top tables and groups of larger than 4 where forced to wait. We waited for nearly an hour to finally be seat by a pair of people sitting at 6 top table. They have no idea how to do social distance! The service at this one in Katy just didn't hold up to what I have come to expect. Through the entirety of my dinner, I spoke to the waiter three times. When he dropped off my menu, refilled my tea/take my order, and when I flagged him down to take my credit card. I was seated in a room right off the front door. I will ABSOLUTELY REQUEST TO NEVER BE SEATED IN THERE AGAIN. It felt like a renovated coat closet. Food didn't seem as good as other destinations. I felt like I was forgotten about. We came for not just the food but the atmosphere and attitude.... we were not disappointed. Our server was very attentive throughout our visit. This place is very good for big parities and kids have things to do aside from causing a ruckus at the table. The food was very good. Maybe it's because I'm from the Los Angeles area but I feel that would make us more of a critic of Mexican food. Carne Asada plate was spot on! One of the best pieces of beef I've had. This was my first time at this local restaurant. Lupe was a great spot for a Sunday lunch. I ordered the big burrito and it was very large and filling. Their queso was incredible. The tortillas were all fresh and tasted that way. The staff was quick to take our order and very quick to bring our food and drinks out. The chips are made fresh and the salsa is a great consistency. I would recommend this location if you have never been here. It's worth a visit. read more

It's more of a pico and is so fresh and delicious - I could eat it with a shovel. The steak fajitas are also amazing, they're buttery and salty and delicious. They don't cover the meat up with a ton of seasoning or peppers, just the meat and onions and they really shine. I've tried a couple of bites of their Tex-mex and it's pretty basic, nothing spectacular. The bar area is enclosed and the seating is first come, first serve. This is by far the worst Lupe Tortilla I have ever had the misfortune to be in! To start, I walked into the front, no hostess or host to be seen in the dimly lit room. I waited 8 minutes, which in that time, another person walked in and walked around me, a muscle bound waiter walked passed TWICE looking in at me, a family walked in and walked out, and another person walked into ask if anyone was working there. Frustrated, I walked into the bar area to try to order, I notified the bartender of the situation in the reception area - he told me that he would tell his co-workers so they could help the person/people waiting in the foyer. I ordered three crispy tacos (2 ground beef, 1 chicken with lettuce, tomato, and cheese). The bartender says to me, "that is what comes on the tacos!" I notified him that was fine, but I didn't want anything extra because I was allergic to raw onions and didn't want Guac, Pico, or sour cream. He writes down that I have an onion allergy. I also ordered chips and queso. He leaves and comes back less than a minute later and tells me that there are onions in the beef mixture, I told her that was fine, I'm just allergic to raw onions. He writes it down and walks away again. I wait, wait, wait... A man comes in and sits down two seats away - he ordered fajitas and beer. I'm still waiting - no update. The guy next to me receives his whole order - still no update on mine. I watch as several other people are served around me and I made a comment about my food. It finally comes out and the bartender opens everything. Nothing is made up, it's all in individual containers. Weird, I've never had that happen before and the makes a nasty comment about that's how it always is and how to put it all together. I then notified him that I just visited another Lupe Tortilla last week and it was altogether. He questions me where that was. Really? He's now questioning me? I notify him that it was from the one in Pearland (like it matters?). I ask him if my queso for my chips is there, he tells me it is and hands me my plastic bag with individual containers and a paper bag with chips. I walk out to my car and opened up the bag to check the items. I find that the chip queso is missing. I walk back in and wait for him to return to the bar. He notify him that the queso for my chips is missing. He tells me it's in the bag. No, I have a container of shredded white cheese and a container of shredded yellow cheese, but no queso. He walks away, comes back and I got the cheese I ordered, I tell him that I got two types of cheese, but i am still wanting the liquid cheese you eat with chips. He walks away, comes back, and says I didn't order it. I notified him that I did when I asked for chips and queso. He walks away again and tells me that it wasn't ordered and I have to buy it. Fine, but I still want queso for my chips. He tells me he understands, I tell him apparently he doesn't because when I ordered it, it wasn't written down, when I asked before I walked out, he said it was there. I'm upset now and the other customers are all staring. He then raises his voice, "Well, so you understand me, I will have to charge you for it!" At that point I wanted to pull the fuzzy haired guy across the bar! Not one other employee came out to see what the problem was. Nope, I was done! I told him I wasn't interested, told my bag of food, and left! I would have paid for the queso had he just told me that from the beginning - I never asked for free food, just my food as I asked for it and without the extremely RUDE service! The worst part, I start opening my containers - he put a salsa in my bag with raw onions! The meat was bland. The chips crisp and I'm sure would have been awesome with QUESO! But the birds I tossed them so enjoyed them! I would NEVER waste my time or money at this Lupe Tortilla again. If you are in the mood for this establishment - you are better off driving to the one in Spring, Pearland, or ANY WHERE ELSE! read more

We had a very good lunch here on a Saturday. We had the rib appetizer, and they were very tender and delicious. The chipotle BBQ really went great with the ribs. The hot plate caramelized the sauce on the bottom side of the rib, mmm delicious. We also ordered the enchiladas and the beef fajitas. The enchiladas were good, with a nice sauce. We got a side of guacamole and it was very good. The beef fajitas are still my favorite thing on the menu. Fantastic lime flavor combined with a nice char and it's a perfect taste. Of course, their tortillas are huge and delicious, and I could just eat them them by themselves. The service was good, even though they were very busy. The glasses were kept full and they regularly checked on us to be sure we didn't need anything. Glad we came here. read more

First time to the Katy Lupe Tortilla and it was scary bad. First the waiter took our drink order 1 large margarita on the rocks and 1 regular margarita blended. He came back with the large blended and the small on the rocks. We explained to him very clearly what happened and he STILL brought out another large blended margarita. I had ordered the Pepper Chicken and it was served with cheddar cheese which is not what I wanted and at that point we were there for an hour already waiting for food and corrections. The Chicken Lupe plate was terrible, the chicken had burnt corners and tasted burned and it seemed like the tried to hide it with cheese. It was 15 minutes just to get my money back from the Manager who didn't seem to care at all. They had very bad service and I will not be going back! read more

Never ever go to Lupe's on a holiday, payday our during rush hours. We made the mistake of going there on mother's day. We ordered and got first round of drinks. Before our food arrived our drinks were gone and our waiter disappeared. Food arrived but still no drinks. We finally got drinks but didn't see our waiter for an eternity. We wanted another round of drinks but never got any and had to wait another 20 mins to get the bill and check out. We were very tempted to just leave because no one seemed to care of we were even there. My other peeve is that our table for 4 was so small we had nowhere to put all the plates and cups and i wanted to set them on the floor. This had to be the worst service we've ever had there. The waiter wasn't knowledgeable about the menu, we were brought the wrong food, food that was cold, waited 45 minutes for the food, cleaned our own table (twice), asked the manager to intervene and he was pointless. Delicious food-- but last night- it was a strange evening. Started with being seated and we were not greeted by our waiter until 5-10 mins after. He then asked about drinks and still never mentioned his name. I only knew he was "Cesar" only because of his name tag. As we (my teenagers and I) were ordering, I asked my son if he wanted ground beef or fajita enchiladas. Cesar did not hesitate to tell us that the fajitas were too expensive and naturally made the decision to order the ground beef instead. When receiving the food, he got our fajita for one order incorrectly (supposed to be mixed) and left us with everything but the fajitas while everyone else was ready to eat. He also charged me for extra tortillas without letting me know. Toward the end of the meal, he gave me the check. I paid but never got even a thank you. How sad. Ok - so this review is too wordy. What it boils down to- this was certainly not the norm and it made me feel like I don't want to come back. Service was poor. They refused to serve me an unmarinated, unseasoned fajita steak, no because they didn't have it but because it's their "signature steak" so they were not willing to serve it any other way. I ordered 3 beers, one michelada and ask for 2 mugs with lime....so they charged me $2.50 for each mug...so $7.50 + $16.50 for 3 bottles and mugs....crazy. I asked for the Manager and he said is restaurant rule and there is nothing they could do about it, I guess they could at least inform you when ordering and then you would decide if you want to pay $2.50 for lime.
