I think the chicken and beef fajitas are freaking awesome. The tortillas are always fresh and homemade and in my book, it's some of the best Tex-mex out there. But that's all I've ever ordered here. That said, we usually always have a wait and they don't take reservations either. You won't get seated either until your entire party shows up. I'm a bit torn about this place. We started off with queso flameado with chorizo. Yummy with two giant tortillas. Really liked the charred jalapeño on top. Hubs had the mixed fajita for one. For $21, it looked so small at first, but it was pretty filling. The beef was the star. I had the red chicken enchiladas, which was the total opposite. It was supposed to be spicy, it was not, and it didn't stand out at all. The rice was actually good and the chicken itself was good quality, but the overall dish was not something to get again. Like another review, the whole "cheekin" thing all over the menu wasn't clever or cute, especially when the prices are quite high. There are other ways to distinguish the brand. No hostess in front. Took her 5 minutes to come back from the bar area and had a snobby unfriendly attitude. No hello, just "two" then sat us right in front of the kitchen and basically threw the menus on the table then walked away without wishing us a good meal or anything. AtLeast another waiter saw our concern and resist us somewhere else. Not the friendly face that I would want working in my establishment as the first thing people see about my restaurant. Food was just so-so. Fish tacos and chicken chili both missing flavor. Had to add salt. Flour Tortilla wraps were old, broke apart when you picked them up. And had to eat taco using fork and knife. Will not return. Our waiter was pretty good. You can tell they are not motivated to love their jobs. I've said it once, and I'll say it again! The fajitas are unbeatable. I'm not gonna mention any of the competitors names, but they just simply do not compare. This Lupe's reminds me of the location on HWY 6 and I-10, it feels more like a home and less of a franchise, if that makes sense. Me and a buddy went there around right at 11:30 and got seated really quickly. I thought we were gonna have to fight off the lunch crowd, but it ended up be fairly quiet for a Lupe's. The other locations down I10 can get loud at times and this was really chill. Our server was very fast and always came around to check how we were doing and The food was a great as the other ones. We visit for the first time yesterday for late lunch. It was not busy in restaurant. I told the waiter that it was our first time, not familiar with mexican food and asked his recommendation, he looked busy so no explanation. I had to read and find out myself what the favorites in the menu, so I tried lupe steak and chicken lupe. Asked the salsa to put aside but they didn't deliver it and I didn't want to ask it anymore. They serve nachos chips and salsa and beans dips while we were waiting. The chips is good but the dips was nothing special. I was thinking I'd probably order wrong food but it is written most favorite in the menu. The rice was dry, the chicken and beef steak was nice. Not fancy the bean at all. Their tortilla was very good. The waiter keep passing by and ask if everything is ok. But I can see he just want to do his job, basically everyone in the restaurant do. They don't put soul in their job. No thank you or goodbye when they see us left the place. Bill come up 38usd for lupe steak,chicken lupe, and 2 softdrinks, I paid them 45usd include tips. It is mexican restaurant with mexican ambiance and decoration. They have sandpit playground for kids outside and big parking space. Location is good. I've been to this Lupe's a couple of times now and honestly it's still one of my favorite Mexican places to eat at. My wife and I always get the fajitas and they have been pretty spot on both times. I will say the beef is better than the chicken but both are better than almost all the other Mexican places all over Houston in my opinion. I've also eaten at the original on Hwy 6 and the location a little further down on I-10 and honestly I've been pleased every time. The wait at this location can sometimes be outrageous and don't expect to be seated unless your whole party is present. OK Tex-Mex food and pretty good service. I have never been a big fan of this chain. The food seems to be more on par with a nice Taco Cabana versus a casual sit down place. My friends rave about the fajitas, but I much prefer El Tiempo or just a local taco truck for tastier food. Overall this place is not overly pricey, but not fantastic food either. This is the latest alot of improvement. Service and moral at an all time high. Now a solid 5 star food for me has always been great here and the pick four is a great deal. Tonight however because it was slow they took a 16 person table even though they say they wont. It was a bday party and sat them next to me. After having butts on our shoulder and people standing over us we pushed our table 2 feet away. The rude people just occupied every inch we moved. Manager jaime said we are slow so we bend the rules for that money. Well I like the food a lot but I will take my money down the road. They do have a looooooong wait on the weekends so you need to know when to go or try to score a patio or bar table which are "first come first serve". If I could give 0 stars I would! Went there last night with my boyfriend. Service was barely there and when our server did come to the table she was rude. Didn't even know her name because she never introduced herself. I'm a server/ bartender as well and I thought maybe she was having a bad day, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. Well we ordered fajitas with shrimp. Unfortunately, I forgot to tell the server my boyfriend has a shellfish allergy so when the fajitas came out there was shrimp on top. Oops my fault, no biggie. We didn't mind waiting longer for them to come out the right way. However, when I told the sever of his allergy and why we couldn't eat the fajitas she immediately stated in a rude tone that we didn't say that and said it multiple times. It's like, I know "Maria" I'm trying to tell you it's my fault I didn't let you know but you DO NOT have to come at me like that! Anyways, while we waited we were going to finish our queso appetizer but she took it away after we told her we were not done with it oh well, we missed out on that. We are still trying to enjoy our time there. We decide to get drinks but again server is inattentive and the other servers cleaning or walking by were also unhelpful. Fajitas came out, shrimp was separate which was great but fajitas were well done when we stated medium rare fajitas tasted good just thought they would taste better if we actually got it the way we asked. Overall, food was okay, drinks were decent, and service was poor and lacking. Oh and a manager never came to check and see how we were doing. Like I said, I'm a server/bartender and I have a lot of patience but i felt like I had to write this review. Had to wait longer than the quoted time for a table but that was ok since we went to the bar. I'm fine with the drinks being pricey & even not having happy hour but the slim Rita was weak & the rocks Rita was even weaker. I got some thing on the menu that's supposed to be a specialty item. It was like a enchilada roll up taco. It's pictured below. You be the judge. No complaints if it tasted better than it looked but that was not the case. And it came with zero sides... They said they don't do reservations. We got there and We waited more than two and half hours , to be finally seated But they only seat half of our group , and the rest didn't had any seat We waited another 30 minutes on our table and still nobody came Bring any menu or take our drink order. This place is great. I usually judge tex-mex on three general items. 1. Frozen Margs: they are very good. They are not overly sweet, and have fresh ingredients. I would like to see them made slightly stronger, but you can always add a tequila topper to solve that problem. The jalapeño margarita on the rocks is a new option I recently tried and it's an EXCELLENT 'on the rocks' marg choice. The house Margs are definitely my third favorite margarita in Houston. 2. Queso: absolutely delish! The cheese is thick and flavorful, they give you free charo beans with the chips and salsa and these are a great addition to put in the queso. 3. Beef Fajitas: these are my number ONE beef fajitas in Houston. They come out super tender, they taste like they are marinated in lime juice and butter! They fall apart in your mouth and have a magnificent flavor that I have been unable to replicate. In addition, the atmosphere is fun and authentic, the restaurant is decorated very cute and has a tiki hut feel to it. There is a large playground for kids, so it's a favorite spot for families. If you don't have children, there is a bar and patio area on the opposite side of the restaurant that is adults only. I come here often and will continue to return! read more

First time here... It's brand new! So it's really clean. Sat in the sombrero room. All the lamps are sombreros. Very cute! The service was awesome! (We did go when it wasn't busy but I'm sure it still would of been awesome.) Waiters name is Julio. I ordered the fajita (beef) roll ups which was a newer dish on the menu. Roll ups consisted of meat, lettuce, crunchy strips, Monterrey jack cheese, lime dressing and flour tortilla. They do give you the option for chicken too. I really liked the combination all together. And I didn't feel like I was eating something that was going to make me feel like I gained 5 lbs later on. I do have to say the lime dressing was strong if you're not used to that sort of taste. (It could just been this time/cook for all I know.) The only things that bothered me was the restroom and my plates lack of pizazz. You have to go outside to get to the restroom. Of course today was the first day of the "Arctic blast" cold front so it's freezing outside! I understood the reason for it's placement while I was walking by the outside bar/patio area. I thought, "How convenient for the drunkies!" Hehe! My plate only consisted of my roll ups and a small plastic cup of queso. That is it, literally. My plate was naked looking. The best thing here is the beef fajitas although they are high priced, over 40 bucks. This place gets crowed fast and the in a house feel is on purpose with all the little rooms makes it feel jammed. I LOVE Lupe Tortilla. When I was growing up, it was always the biggest treat to go there. Sure, it meant a ridiculous wait time and generally awful service, but my gosh the food! First time at this location, but 2nd time trying Lupe Tortilla. This was a much much better experience than the last one (Hwy 6 location). Hubby had a Carne Asada plate and I asked for Fish Taco plate, buy regular rice instead of cheese rice. Hubby loved the steak and he's usually very picky about his steak. My Fish tacos (x2) were yummy! The decor was kitchy, cute and seemingly genuine. One thing we were surprised with: we were charged $1.50 for fresh sliced jalepeneo peppers. We ate Mexican foods across the country and had never been charged for the peppers, or not that we had noticed. Didn't like that at all. We don't mind returning... Went at noon on a Saturday and were seated right away. We both love the original Lupe Tortillas so we were excited to try a new location closer to home. Parking is definitely better at this location! I ordered the cucumber "margarita" and he had the house margarita. The cucumber drink is made with vodka so I didn't consider it a margarita but more of a mixed drink. It was refreshing! But sweet. I switched to a house margarita which was great. This place is pretty consistent with the original location. It seems larger with more room between tables, which is better in my opinion. We ordered queso and it came out quickly. It was hot and yummy. We split a pound of beef fajitas (our favorite) and this location didn't disappoint. They were sizzling and delicious!
