I haven't been here since they opened and thought maybe it would be better, assuming they'd work out the kinks. Much was still the same, though. Long wait for a table and then inattentive, slow service. I asked them if they could do veggie fajitas and told me that they could, but it would be the same price as the beef. I agreed, but was thinking it would be typical veggie fajitas. My fiancé got the mixed beef and chicken fajitas. When they brought out the food, we were both shocked at how small the fajita platters were. My veggie fajitas was about 2 portabella mushrooms grilled and sliced topped with a few rings of grilled white onions. You should know that the grilled white onions are my FAVORITE part of getting fajitas. I thought maybe the taste would make up for the portion size, but they were ok, not great. The total for the veggie fajitas was $18.95 without tax or tip. I don't mind paying that for an entree if the taste is good OR they overdo it on the portion, unfortunately at Lupe, it is neither good or too much. There are just far too many Mexican restaurants that do the food and service better without the wait. Don't waste your time here. read more

My family was extremely excited to eat at Lupe Tortilla since we have always heard such wonderful things. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed. Waited an hour for fajitas and enchiladas that were very bland, unimpressive and the portion size was very small. The waiter was average and seemed to be very distracted. I think they need to re-evaluate their food and service. On a positive note, the outside was very nice and our son enjoyed playing while we sat and enjoyed the wonderful cool weather. I suppose dining in is the key at this LT location. Their ToGo Service is horrible. Unnecessarily long wait. They have a bell you can ring for service but either it doesn't work or they still respond when they are ready (When I arrived, another customer was waiting-said she had been their 10 mins. I rang the bell after waiting another 3 minutes-no response. Another customer came in a minute after I rang the bell. Then she rang two minutes after that. Still no response. I literally called the restaurant phone from the ToGo area and told the person who answered that customers needed assistance in the ToGo area). No complaints about the food, but if service is a consideration for you, consider dining elsewhere. read more

Called to place a to-go order at 5 p.m. from downtown Katy with the plan to place the order and swing by and pick it up on my way home (Fry rd and 99 area)...well, I was put on hold for the whole length of the trip from Katy to passing Lupe's!...approx. 15 minutes. Finally, taken of hold and questioned the reason for the long hold and was told as if I should know better, "they were busy". Took the tone of the answer in stride and placed my order only to find out it will be 45 minutes until it will be ready!! If it was not for having a gift card, we would have told them no thanks! First - I have been to other Lupe locations that were great. So we ended up at this location on a Wednesday evening... which turned out to be National Taco Day. Who knew? They were super busy. After a 15 min wait (at 7pm, no big deal) we were seated. Waiter was ok, nice, but just really busy and not super present. This menu was not at all like the one I had looked at online that had shrimp tacos. But this menu still had fish tacos, so I figured I could just substitute shrimp (like I do everywhere; I'm obsessed with shrimp tacos.) When I asked, he said NO. What?! I've never been anywhere that wouldn't do that. I double checked with him even because I thought maybe he misunderstood me initially. But nope, he said they could not substitute. Crazy, but whatever, I ordered the grilled shrimp plate. It was fine. Also the queso is yummy, but the small is very small, at least ours was. A friend of mine and I decided to give Lupe Tortilla a try for the first time today, We didn't know what to expect because neither of us had been to a Lupe tortilla before but it was not a pleasant experience at this particular location, I didn't get to try their food therefore I this review is about the location and the staff. The wait time for the table was very short, the hostess sat us at a table in a very small room where we had to bother the people sitting at the next table to be able to get to the chairs. The hostess informed us the waiter would be with us shortly and although he did stop by to say he would be back, it took him 10 minutes to return and finally take the drink order. Because of the long wait, we had had time to decide on the order and based on the disappearing act from the waiter we placed the order; this was the beginning of the end, we ordered the queso flameado for an appetizer and 1lb of fajitas (not an elaborate order) and since we had not been there before, I asked if he could tell us if the sides (rice, beans, etc) would come in two plates or if we needed to order extra. He said the fajitas would come in one plate and he could bring two separate plates so we could share, thinking he may have not heard me correctly I asked again being very specific and asking if there would be 2 rice 2 beans 2 etc he repeated the fajitas would come in one plate and he would bring out 2 extra plates so we could share. I gave it one more try and asked if we needed to order double sides so we didn't have to share the rice and the beans, when he started to say "the fajitas will come in one plate..." I could not deal with that and I just told him to cancel the order, we would go somewhere else. My husband and I went to try this place when they first opened in Katy. We ordered 2 margaritas and guacamole for an app. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks then we place our orders I ordered a fajita burrito after biting into the burrito I found plastic wrap in my mouth. I asked for a manager and it took them 10 minutes to come see what the problem was. Needless to say we walked out immediatly and we will NEVER eat at a Lupe Tortilla again! read more

I'd like to give this four stars but my latest experience was something to be desired. A week ago we arrived around 5 pm, midweek and had no wait and were able to sit at the bar. This last time, we arrived right at 7 p.m. and had to search for a parking spot.. The other reviews about the kids running amok in the sand are true. The wait time we were told was 30 minutes. We made our way to the overcrowded bar that was also filled with kids and ordered us drinks while we waited. An hour and 20 minutes later our party of three was finally seated.....under a leaky A/C duct no less. I ordered their "famous" chicken fajitas, mynahs and had enchiladas and a tack and our friend also ordered the chicken fajitas. I was disappointed when our fajitas came out and they weren't sizzling at all. The chicken was cold and chewy and not at all like our prior experience. Service was ok but I went without water for the last 25 minutes at our table. No offer for more, nothing. Not sure we will be back, especially with all of the unsupervised, barefoot kids running all over. read more

So we gave this Lupes multiple chances because quite frankly we have a drinking problem and the dossaritas are better then a $10 cocaine rock. Lupes has made vast improvements. We were a party of 8 vegetarians and that usually does not come in the way of enjoying TexMex especially in a reasonably cosmopolitan city like Houston. Normally the waiters are innovative to suggest something fanciful so that dishes don't get repeated all that much. Except in this place. The waiter was rather clueless on what to offer except for the 2 or 3 vegetarian dishes listed on the menu and we landed up repeating those. It would have been OK had those dishes been nice but they were so bland and so devoid of flavor that we were left wondering why we were still sitting there in the first place. I found myself apologizing to my guests from New York on having dashed their expectations of TexMex in the home of TexMex. To note a few positive sprinkles: the celantro salsa was nice, decor good and waiter friendly in spite of being clueless and was kind enough to point out that one of the items that we thought was vegetarian was actually not. read more

I have been a lupe fan for over 4 years now. I love LOVE LOVE LOVE the Lupe on I-10 and BunkerHil. The service is outstanding and the quality of the food is delicious. We moved out to Katy and tried the Lupe on W. Grand Parkway S. this past weekend and I was very disappointed with our To Go order. The 1lb of beef fajita was cold, the rice was cold, the beans were cold. The tortillas were cold. We went to pick up the food in the 20 min they told us it would be done. My husband being new to the place parked and just went in. He took 20 min to come back out. He said he asked 4 different waiters where the To Go pick up desk was located. Everyone of them shrugged and said they didn't know to try the front. He finally made it to the To go pick up. The guy didn't know where his order was and kept insisting he get back in car and drive to the back to get his food. -_- He also kept saying the reason the waiters didn't know was probably because of a language barrier. My husband is American and the waiters answered in English. No language barrier there. Gets to the car we get on the highway. I start checking the food and realize the food is cold. I call and ask to speak to the manager and a gentleman named PARIS gets on the phone and keeps making excuses for the food being cold. Did you come when we told you, your order would be ready. He asks for me to come back. I am already home, with three hungry little boys. I can't just get back in my car and take the food back just so you can see how cold the food really is. He apologizes and says he would like to make it right. Asks for my number and says he will call me right back. He NEVER called back. Never made anything right. I had to stick everything in the microwave. I will never go back to that location. Katy residents we need to hold our restaurants to a higher standard. Just because we live far out and we are lucky to have all these restaurants come out and set up their business there doesn't mean we have to accept this kind of service. Worst Customer Service Ever! Went there for the First time and the Last time on a Saturday afternoon. It was Fairly busy but not packed. We ordered a Margarita and then a few minutes later, we ordered food. We ordered a couple of Grilled fish tacos and a beef taco plate. After 35 mins I started inquiring about our food when I noticed a couple behind us had their food and weren't even sitting there when we ordered ours. I told the waiter we were now in a hurry and 10 mins later our food came out. I got the Manager involved and he gave me a Crappy excuse about the Grilled fish took longer. Waiter Never stated that and nor did we know the beef taco plate, not on the menu would be $20. $55 was our bill for 2 margaritas, 2 fish tacos and 2 beef tacos with some beans. Really? Got the manager involved again who Never apologized and stated that was the price. We were in a Hurry now and I could no longer argue. Threw down my credit card and Swore I would Never come back. This place was not enjoyable whatsoever. To begin, my sister fell with her nine month old after one of the employees pulled her chair away from the table as she was sitting down. Then our server not only got our order wrong, the kids meal that we ordered came ten minutes after everyone else's meal was already on the table. If I want to have Mexican, this is the only place I would prefer to go. The one thing I like about this place is that the food is not over loaded with cheese. I love the Carne Asada and Tacos Al carbon the best. I like the warp too. But the place is always crowded and there is more than 30 minutes wait me for a party of three to be seated, so go early to have your food in time especially on weekends for dinner. The place is a bit too crowded and sometimes I feel claustrophobic inside, the tables a tightly placed. Their margarita is good and service is good. read more

Best service received at this Lupe Tortilla location. The hostess was very gracious and allowed us to pick the table we wanted to sit at without giving us attitude. I don't like being in the small rooms and prefer to be in the opened dining area. The waiter came a minute after we sat down and took our drink order and the bus boy brought the chips and salsa immediately following. When we asked for two additional salsas right off the bat, the waiter smiled and came right back with the additional salsas. When the drinks were half full, the waiter brought more. The service was just great! The beef fajitas were outstanding. Service goes a long way, having great service makes the whole meal that much better! read more
