We received great service, and I've got to say, I love their original salsa you just need to ask for it, and it's free. It's more like pico than salsa. I really want to love this place, because I love the fresh cold salsa they give you with your chips and they make a great Cadillac margarita. I've just had something wrong with my food literally every time I've come here. Tonight I ordered the Avocado shrimp salad. It arrived with zero avocado or poblano and some sort of Italian style dressing. The shrimp were cooked properly, but so over seasoned they were barely palatable. My partner ordered the fajita burrito with charros on the side instead of refried and it came out with refried beans. The waitress was accommodating and brought me a side of avocado and the correct dressing, and my wife didn't want to make a fuss about the beans. Then I check my receipt after arriving back home and they charged me 2.75 for a side of Avocado!!! So I get no avocado on my shrimp AVOCADO salad and they charged me to correct it?!?! I don't like trashing businesses online, but I cannot in good faith give this restaurant any more of my business. read more

They have homemade tortillas, but they weren't really my favorite. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas, and unfortunately I didn't enjoy them. Oh, I wish they sold their salsa in giant vats. A friend my sister suggested this place, and she was so right. It was love at first chip. I ended up getting the spicy chicken tacos, which was great, though messy. Quick and good service, received my food and my check in a very reasonable amount of time. It was pre dinner rush when I got there, so it wasn't super crowded, but it seemed like a good place to hang out. And the prices seemed pretty reasonable for the quality. The final price was $50 which is ridiculous because the fajitas that came out were not at all sizzling or even hot and the chicken in my salad was just cold cubes of pre-cooked chicken salsa comes in tiny little bowls,you have to beg for more The rice at a very odd and unpleasant flavor, and the beans were cold and not smooth ,as refried beans should be. First time at a Lupe Tortilla and it was a nice lunch! The inside is festively decorated and bright-- definitely a Tex-Mex feel. There's complimentary chips and salsa + beans to start, and I loved the beans! Warm and nicely flavored without being overly salty. The chips themselves were on the thinner side and the salsa was a little spicy. Beef fajitas (4 out of 5) are tender and tasty! Not overly salted and I loved how they weren't super chewy or in a puddle of oil. It came with tortillas, guacamole, cheese, salsa, and sour cream. Half a pound was enough for a meal that wouldn't set you into a food coma. Would order again! Barbacoa tacos (3.5 out of 5) came as a set of 2. Their flour tortillas are very thin and large, so felt like there was an excess of tortilla compared to the meat, which was tender and was savory, not spiced much, and okay. Would be fine eating again but would probably try something else next time. There was an option to substitute the rice and beans with vegetables: street corn and green beans. The street corn (4 out of 5) was sweet and had cute tiny kernels, but the dollop of aioli tasted like tartar sauce and mayo so we scraped that off. The green beans (4 out of 5) were young, not too crunchy or tough, and tasty. Although it came With cheese and cilantro sprinkled on top, it didn't taste too differently than just flavored with salt. Our server, Donny, was enthusiastic and nice, although he seemed stretched as it gets pretty busy during lunch time (so go early!). This review is directly related to how incompetent, annoying and lacking of self awareness the manager at this location is. He needs to go back to training class on how to treat repeat customers and handle simple situations. His jokes are also not funny and him coming to check how my meal was makes me want to bang my head against the table because he lingers. I tolerated this to be nice. I've been going to Lupe's for 10 years, spent someones tuition on fajitas and have never had a horrible experience until last night. Me and my girlfriend were asked to leave out seat on the pattio because our 3 pound dog was barking at the waiter that walked by and a guest complained. We are on the patio where dogs are allowed. The arrogance is not only insulting (we know we weren't sick before eating their food) but also DANGEROUS!! We took our baby to the doctor and she said it was 100% food poisoning and the timeline she gave aligned with eating dinner at this location!! Take responsibility and fix your kitchen before others get sick. We frequent multiple Lupe Tortilla locations and this manager and their kitchen are a danger. We have never experienced such terrible service at any other location! Causing food poisoning and not even attempting to admit and apologize for their mistake or correct their mistake can lead to many other families and babies to get sick. My wife and I just moved to the area from N Dallas. Over the past 8 years we have become huge fans of Lupe Tortilla. There was one by my corporate office, and they built another by our home in Allen, TX. Lupe is not cheap but their food is excellent. Top quality beef, the best flour tortillas outside of Mexico, and the beans and salsa they serve to everyone are just awesome. Well.. we stopped in a month ago and convinced a big group of friends to come with us. A few of them said they weren't fans of Lupe which frankly astonished us. They had only visited the one in Kingwood. We decided to go the Kingwood location as it's not far from where we live in Spring. All of the restaurants are the same, or built very similarly. The restaurants feel nice, well decorated, great outdoor seating, etc. We were seated after a 30 minute wait on a Friday night which wasn't bad. The server was rude, slow, and over the next hour while we wait we all complained of how long we'd go with empty glasses. The beans which are usually a bit soupy (ranchero style) were dry. Very dry. When I complained to the server he shrugged his shoulders. I told him that I've eaten at Lupe some 70 to 80 times, they've catered to my businesses, and I've never had beans like this. I asked him to get us new ones. 20 minutes later he brought us better beans. The fajitas which are normally perfect, were overcooked. The tortillas were not as fresh as we're accustomed to. My wife and I left embarrassed that we convinced our friends to spend 80-$100 a couple for such a terrible experience. If nothing else, the Kingwood restaurant is a perfect example of how important a good restaurant manager is. No wonder this place as 3 stars. I really hope they get their act together as we'd love to go back. Until I hear better.. there's no way. read more

We went for brunch to the Northpark location yesterday. I should have known when the place was practically empty that we were not going to have a good experience. I'll start by saying the waiter was really nice. It did take a long time to get drinks, especially for it not being busy but I don't think that's his fault. My friend ordered the Florentine Benedict, her mom got biscuits and gravy, and I got the Chilaquiles (Red). Everything was cold. The Benedict was fine but not warm at all. The biscuits and gravy had to be sent back and reheated. And let's talk about the chilaquiles. I've never seen anything like it. It was a pile of dry tortilla chips, with shredded chicken, melted white cheese and an egg scrambled to within an inch of its life lying on top. The red sauce, with which every experience I've ever had with chilaquiles the tortillas are cooked in, was on the side. It was supposed to be spicy. Y'all, it was canned chili with beans. This is not an exaggeration, I am not trying to be outrageous. It was CANNED CHILI. I wish I'd have taken a picture but I was so shocked I couldn't even believe it. Awful, terrible, and the least authentic heap of ingredients I've ever seen. I won't be going back. I do not recommend. I don't know what I was served but it was not chilaquiles. read more

Stop at the Lupe tortilla on Northpark Drive to grab a quick appetizer. We sat at the bar and placed our order for fajita nachos. The order taker asked chicken or beef or mixed and I said beef after we ordered we noticed that there was a six dollar up charge for beef when we mentioned this the server laughed at us and said beef is extra. I've been a Lupe Tortilla fan for a long time, visiting the Kirby/59 location for years and the food has always been excellent. My experience at the new Kingwood location was completely different. The food was still good, but the service was terrible. Our waiter could only focus on 2 tables at a time, and we were the third. It took him forever to take our order, took some people's order and left without taking the rest. It was an hour before we got our drinks, we had to call the manager over to get that and he had to get our food as well. Some of our order was put in wrong. One person in our party requested an off menu dish (and provided her alternative choice if it wasn't available) and the waiter never consulted the manager about the dish and just put in her second choice instead. You could tell the manager was frustrated with this waiter also. The drinks from the bar took FOREVER. I don't know what is going on with this location but we won't be back unless there is a notable change in the service. It's a shame because they have great food. read more

After a long week I wanted to treat myself to lunch at my (now former) favorite restaurant. I thought I hit the lottery was my waitress, she seemed to be nice and was very attentive. I was enjoying my lunch when another waitress asked to remove a dish from my table. She then proceeded to state, "you must be the customer who is our *** lover". I was so embarrassed. She could only know about what I reordered because my waitress was talking about me in the kitchen. I have Celiac and can only order a few items from the restaurant like the salsa or the beans as my appetizer, so yes I may have ordered refills. From that moment on I was super self conscious. I did not want to be the topic of jokes in the kitchen. I definitely will not be going back to that restaurant. I understand this probably happens every where , but if so, I don't know about so I eat my meal in ignorance of what is going on in the kitchen. It is when it is thrown in my face that as a customer I just want to leave. My husband and I went to Lupe Tortilla's for brunch this morning and it was a great experience. The service was excellent and the food was hot and delicious. We both had breakfast tacos. I had the carne molida tacos and my husband had the fajita tacos. The coffee was hot and the waiter made sure our cups were full. We will definitely be returning for brunch.
