My husband and I frequent great Mexican food restaurants. (And there are plenty in Houston) ... If you like very spicy, super hot Mexican food, this might be your place! Chips were very average, (grocery store might be better) and neither of us cared for the salsa. For me, the salsa was so hot I couldn't eat it, and my husband didn't care for the taste of it. Our food arrived and looked promising! I took one bite of the tamale and it was so spicy I couldn't eat it. I've never had a tamale like that before. I tried the enchilada, and it was not quite as bad, but it was still extremely spicy. Sadly I just ate some of the rice, and gave up. We've eaten Tex-Mex all over the state, (love San Antonio Mexican food) and I have to say this was some of the hottest we've ever eaten. My husband did not feel the taste of the food was great. I never have been treated as we were here. to start, we had a party of 6 & we walked in to a restaurant with at least 30 open tables. we were told by the OWNER of the restaurant that they are on wait because the kitchen is in the weeds. she told us to continue to wait (by standing instead of having a table or having the space to accommodate standing patrons). she would rather tell my pregnant wife & her mother to stand for 20-30 minutes instead of finding us our table & letting us wait for the kitchen to catch up. I told her we can go somewhere else & she seemed to be perfectly fine with it. I'm not usually one to complain about something so much but the lady showed absolutely no passion for her restaurant. I wouldn't go here if I was paid to because she clearly doesn't care about the business that provides for her. Este es el peor lugar en el que he entrado. Happy New Year!!! We took part of our family and some friends to eat here on New Year's Eve and it was wonderful. The food everyone had was delicious and the service was awesome. From the sweet lady delivering our chips and salsa making sure everyone would have enough of their delicious salsa to Alex our server. I can't forget the front hostess who smiled and welcomed us in. The salsa is watery and does not have much flavor ,although the chips are good. Our combo dinners were disappointing ;the fajita meat, too tough to cut or chew . tortillas and the taco on one of the dinners ,was the best part. enchilada was not warm throughout, and the meat in the tamale was very stringy. Beans were good ,but the rice had no flavor ,and was also dry. Just not worth $50 for lunch ,for two. Quality did not match that price. I normally love this place. we got there shortly after they opened and were the only customers. And the service was awful. The waiter was more interested in talking to the hostess, standing by the bar and drinking his own drink than being a waiter. we aren't hard customers to please but when your standing talking and doing whatever you want to do when your only customers are needing refills and assistance that's a little ridiculous. told my husband this was the only place I wanted for my birthday lunch so we came today and left so disappointed. the food was great but service was awful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself is really cute inside the aesthetic does not fit the food or the service[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] although the employees seem nice our waiter was all over the place and made us feel a little overwhelmed with how he was handling our orders. I asked for a Mexican coke and my partner asked for a water with no ice and already started off with giving us the wrong drink order. It seemed that the waiter had other tables and was unable to prioritize which is why he was very scattered. I ordered steak à la tampiqueña the ribeye steak which had an odd taste. I could not finish it but the enchilada that it came with tasted better than the steak but was not fully impressed. I also ordered charro beans which were bland and tasted more like water down pinto beans with no flavor. We were impressed with the mexichido guac which was the only order we were impressed by. Would we come back probably not. The food was not impressive it did not enough spices or enough flavor. I left today full but not the good kind. read more

Tried Mexichido for the first time today, and was pleasantly surprised! Great service from kind staff. Frozen and rocks margaritas were delicious and strong. Complimentary chips and warm salsa were great. I went for the "supreme enchiladas" with ground beef and red chile sauce. They were delicious and perfectly spicy. Refried beans and Mexican rice were fantastic as well. My only complaint is the ground beef was slightly over salted. Prices are very reasonable compared to some of the larger Tex Mex restaurants in the area. Will be back! read more

I had the picante super taco and we also had the enchilada trio the flavor was amazing and very authentic. Beware when they name the picante taco oicante they meant it because it was hot but very good. The homemade flour tortillas were delicious too. You can't go wrong , try it for yourself! The Birra Burrito is REALLY GOOD. , I don't do food reviews but this burrito takes it. Happy hour margs are $5 and you can't beat that. My family also rated their food highly and that's the bottom line. Definitely coming back. read more

Food: I went to Mexichido for a large Margarita Gold. I was provided chips and salsa with the drink. The chips seem to be out of a bag but the salsa was OK. The Margarita Gold was terrible and I could not drink it - very bad! The worst thing was this was the most expensive margarita drink I ever paid for - $20. My husband and I stopped in for dinner. we were seated and a waiter came and took our drink order. My husband asked for a Shiner (which is a beer brand). I ordered a margarita. The waiter proceeded to ask my husband if he wanted the same thing. He said "No, a Shiner". He said sure. 15 minutes later another waiter came and tried to ask for our drink order, but the previous interaction made us ask him if the they have Shiner and he said no. A few minutes later, the first waiter came back with 2 margaritas. We calmly explained to him that he got our order wrong. He said "... ok, no need to be rude, bro." With that insult, we left. The food in there smelled amazing but a rude waiter is something I can't take. It would be an easy fix if he had just let us know that he was unclear on what we were talking about. read more
