The restaurant is a decent size, service is fast, and there is plenty of parking. They serve chips and salsa as soon as you arrive. The chips were cold, the salsa was runny. There is a green dip that tasted bland. I had the special which was trio fajitas. The steak inedible, the shrimp were over cooked. The 3 pieces of chicken I had were good. We asked for a side of queso and it was runny as well. The restaurants food quality could use a serious revamp. read more

Rancho used to be the place we'd take friends and family when they visited, but since I had to cut gluten for medical reasons, I thought this place was out. I called to see if they (by chance) had any gluten-free options, and the person I spoke with confirmed the following: any marinated meat isn't safe since soy sauce is used; the rice is fried in a shared fryer; the beans are GF; corn tortillas and shredded chicken are safe; and the queso, salsa, and guacamole are safe (I believe the chips are in a shared fryer). I took this knowledge when I went to order today, and so far, I haven't had any symptoms. Our food was served hot, and as always, it was excellent. The waitress gave us shirts for Cinco de Mayo, and they had other fun trinkets they were giving away. We usually go to Pappasito's for Cinco, but since the San Jac is up, we decided to keep it within the Kingwood side of the river. I'm so glad we did. Though this place is usually busy, it was dead today (probably because of the weather). Service is always stellar, and we didn't have to ask for anything. We were in there for a total of 45 minutes - our food was out in a matter of minutes after ordering, and our waitress was incredible. We will absolutely be back! read more

Hooray! We found our favorite legit Mexican restaurant in kingwood! We've tried a bunch after moving here 6 months ago. My fiancé is a classically trained chef and also happens to be Chicano. He was craving menudo and we were googling menudo in the humble kingwood area and happened to find this place right down the road. Imagine our surprise. Excellent food. EXCELLENT. We loved the warm salsa but had to try the white queso everyone talked about. It didn't look like much but it certainly didn't disappoint and was served with pickled carrots and jalapeños. I ended up ordered the cheese enchiladas and had them substitute the sour cream sauce. OMGGGGGG garlicky heaven on a plate! My fiancé had the menudo (off menu, call ahead) and he said it was really flavorful a good. He only wish it had a bit more protein in it but he would definitely order it again. Went for dinner, walked in and the place was busy every table was taken first thought in mind was this place must be good...we got seated and waited for quite some time for a young lady to come and ask what we would like to drink we put our order in and waited, another lady came by our table and asked what we would like to drink told her someone already came and asked but we would like some chips and salsa as we wait she says ok I'll be right back, we wait even longer for another server to come by our table and ask what we would like to drink and if we would like chips and salsa. My Jamaica finally came and my husband and I put our order in I got the Tamal Dinner and my husband got the Ribs. Both plates were not anything to rave about. My taco that came with the dinner was store bought taco shell, the ground beef was flavor less it needed a lot of help, I asked for sour cream that I had to wait for over 10 minutes to get, by the time it came my taco was gone. The Tamales were ok I would say the best thing on the plate was the beans, rice, and sour cream once I got it. The Jamaica was really good. The chips and salsa was ok. My husband's ribs were so not the business, it was literally boiled ribs thrown on a plate a doused with BBQ sauce, My husband didn't even eat half of it. We both didn't finish our food. We waited so long for everything our drinks ended costing more than the food if that doesnt say something about the service I'm not sure what else to say. When asked for our bill our server didn't even want to bring it to us. Oh and get this after I asked for the bill we waited and waited my drink was empty for quite some time so long that the lady came and took the glass away our server comes back and asks if I would like a other drink I was thinking this drink has free refills especially since we are about to leave....yeah right, I get the second drink and the bill and I got charged for 2 drinks. Um, I get it I did order another drink but seriously I also asked for the bill about 3 times before that. Someone was really trying to make their sales for the night. If you like bland food and lacking service then this is the place to go. The Jamaica is really good you might want to just phone order it and get it to go. We won't be back. The 2 stars is because my husband really wanted to like our guy server even though he took forever to bring our food, my drink, and sour cream, he was really quick with my husband's drinks so that's why the 2 stars. This is our go-to local Mexican food joint. Service is always great, food is always fresh and hot. There's hardly a night we have gone that we haven't had to wait for a table, but it's never more than 15 minutes. My husband ALWAYS gets the cheese enchiladas (with onions on top), while I usually try to mix it up. I love their fajita beef and chicken! Queso is delish and comes with pickles jalapeños. Good service, good Mexican food, good prices. I'm going to start by saying this is not the best Mexican restaurant in Kingwood, but it's a solid choice for the price you are paying. Stick with the classics like the tacos al pastor, enchiladas, or carne guisada; tastey food that satisfies any Tex-Mex craving. For appetizers, go with the guacamole instead of the queso. Their queso is just melted cheese with jalapeños on the side. Not really flavorful but mixed with the salsa, the queso can be pretty yummy. The guacamole on the other hand is perfect: AND, no lettuce! I hate when people put lettuce in guacamole. Just charge more for more avocado. All in all, I liked my experience dining at Las Palamos. I'll probably come back sometime soon for a quick dinner, or take out. read more

We are moving to this area soon and decided to try a new restaurant. The chips were good and the red salsa was okay. I overheard another customer ask for green sauce so I decided to ask our waiter for it as well. I thought the green was better than the red salsa but it would have been better if it was warm of room temperature. We ordered queso, combo fajitas and the sour cream chicken enchiladas. I thought the queso was pretty good and flavorful compared to other places. The fajitas were pretty good too and had a good taste. The beef was more flavorful than the chicken. I wouldn't mind if they tried cooking the beef to med rare rather than well done but they were good nonetheless. My partner thought the enchiladas were okay but still likes our former go-to place down in Pearland. I'm trying to find an alternative because I'm not driving from Kingwood to Pearland every weekend to get our fix! The service here was amazing! When we got there someone opened the door and we were immediately seated. The server was friendly as were the other servers. It's true the staff hung out toward the back near the restrooms but it didn't really bother us. They were just putting silverware together and having some down time in between serving the guests. It's a small place and they have to be somewhere. Overall this was a good place to eat a casual Tex-mex meal. read more

My colleague recommended this mexican restaurant one day, so we drove up from Humble. It is a little farther than I normally drive for food during my lunch hour, but that's ok. I didn't study the menu much at all, and just quickly ordered the fajitas poblanas, since they sounded good and came with bacon, cheese and roasted/sauteed poblano peppers for only 50 cents more then their regular lunch fajitas. Chips and salsa tasted pretty good, so I was feeling good about my experience already. We also ordered queso with the meal, and I sampled it, but I just thought it tasted like any other queso. But, I'm no queso aficionado, so order at your own risk. Fajitas were pretty tasty overall, with the weakest part being the tortillas which are not homemade. The beef was cooked to well done, so they weren't exactly 'sitos juicy or medium rare by any means, but still had good flavor. When combining the sautéed onions, bell peppers, poblanos, and even mushrooms on the skillet, the fajita meat mixture was actually great just by itself. I hear they also have some decent margaritas. Since I don't live in the area and it's too far to come during my lunch hour on a regular basis....so I don't anticipate coming all that often. read more

For under $50 including a 20% tip for excellent, attentive and friendly service, we had well prepared dishes and contented bellies.
