The Hacienda Polomas is the latest Tex Mex style restaurant to occupy this Kingwood location. My first impression is of the 3 or 4 incarnations, this is the best. First the dining area is open, festive and inviting. Second they have a large, covered outdoor patios area. Last, but not least, they have a large menu that includes all the traditional offerings like fajitas, enchiladas and tacos. However also they grilled fish and seafood selections that were very flavorful. I wish them longevity and success. read more

This is our after church Sunday staple basically. The queso is good and you get pickled jalapenos with it which I think is a great touch. if you are not impressed with the default salsa because you need a little heat, then ask for the Salsa Picosa I think it costs $2 but it is worth it believe me. The Daisy burrito, Pastor Torta, Tacos Birriria and the Fajitas are the best entrees in my opinion. Margaritas are great get them with Tajin, I normally go frozen because I am trashy like that. My husband and I ate here with my parents tonight. We ordered the queso as an appetizer, and unlike a previous reviewer, it was NOT Velveeta. The cheese was authentic. Our food was served hot and fresh, and my parents said it was some of the best Mexican they've had in Kingwood. I don't know how this place has three stars. Please note: This review is for the weekend breakfast as lunch and dinner is great. Arrived as soon as they opened the door with my heart set on Huevos Rancheros, sadly when it arrived disappointment set in. All it was were a friend egg with watery enchalada sause poured over to where the egg floated in the plate and a dab of refried beans on the side! The other dishes at the table were about at the same level of quality. Word of advice just skip breakfast and have lunch on Saturday when the cook shows up and happy hour starts. read more

I have been staying at home lately and not eating out. So, you can imagine how excited I was to find a good place to eat out and Enjoy a drink. I found Hacienda Palomas and read the reviews on Yelp before entering. The reason I chose it was because someone Had written in a review that the drinks were good. I was thirsting for a Mojito so I was really looking forward to having one. Sadly, it was awful. It was flavorless and way too strong. I know its not normal to complain about too much alcohol, but thats about all I could taste. I sent it back and ordered a margarita. It was just as bland just not with as much alcohol. Both were disappointing. The waiter was very nice and attentive. He got me the new Margarita and didnt make me feel bad for returning the Mojito. The food was okay but nothing special. As I was finishing eating some chips and salsa, I dipped a chip into the salsa and pulled out a long, black hair. I have short grey hair so I know it wasn't mine. I told the waiter I didnt want anything, and i didn't because I had eaten a lot of food, BUT in the very least he should have sent the manager over to apologize for the nasty hair. Needless to say, it didnt leave me with the best impression of the restaurant. I worked in the restaurant business for many years, so I Know normal prodigal is to involve the manager in any complaint. I would have felt much better about the experience if someone would Have acted like they cared. After all, I had complained not only about the blandness of the drinks but also found a hair in my salsa, that would absolutely call for a visit from the manager. My boyfriend was craving a torta tonight so we ordered on door dash from this place (which we never have eaten at previously). I ordered the shrimp caldo and the flameado. The torta of course was not in the bag. The one thing we needed for this night to be perfect. The Caldo also smelled super fishy, more than usual. I should have known better to not order from this place as I was looking up the times the restaurant is open and the times seemed off on Sunday. I called and asked what time they were open till and the hostess stated till 9pm but as I was getting off the phone, I could hear her saying "but don't come." Not pleased at all. Where do I start? Mondo is a sneaky waiter who pockets your money if you let him and over charges if he knows he can get away with it. The tea was real good one time. After that it's been tasting real funky kind of like they are cooking other stuff in the tea pot or the water is tainted. My daughter and I Got food poisoning eating the meat here. Ac is barely on. Staff doesn't help you. There's an old guy who stands around near the kitchen who ignores everyone and he's not the owner so I dunno why he gets to do nothing. I went in for dinner. The service was very good. However, the salsa and queso were extremely bland. Please add some heat and flavor to these basic items. I ordered the Chicken Poblano plate. The portion of food was huge, no complaints. Again a little more spice could have been added but overall it was a good dish. My dish also came with tortillas. Please do not be fooled by the looks of this quaint restaurant. This restaurant is full of people with no taste buds or desires for quality food. The food is equivalent to that of Pancho's or Casa Ole (in that order). Starting with the salsa, there's no flavor or seasoning, it's just red. Who can mess up a cheese enchilada or a taco? This place can! I've had better food from the microwavable section at the grocery store. If you can't get the basics of an enchilada or a taco right, it's downhill from there. This place was such a disappointment and we will not be back. Save your money. Save your taste buds. Save your time and go somewhere else!
