Pizza at the taproom was cheap frozen pizza with enough cheese for 3 pies, but so undercooked the cheese did not fully melt. The grocery store, and I used the term loosely, was worse than a 7-11. No tortilla chips? Really? The main dining room at Big Meadows was good. Food was fresh, hearty, perfectly good. Obviously not the same food purveyors as the rest.

They had a common living room for the guests to relax in which had books and board games. There was also an area for 24/7 water, coffee, and tea, and in the afternoon, a baked treat was available. We saw chocolate chip cookies and apple cider donuts. Bonus: There was a mini fridge with seltzer water. Second, we booked the Naturalist for the weekend and it was a wonderful room. The sheets were so soft and comforting. The bathroom was a bit small but had modern fixtures. I don't know what the shower head was, but it was super nice LOL. I could've stood in there forever. Their shampoo, conditioner, and body wash smelled lovely as well. They provide a little lotion tube. So, I'd recommend bringing your own. Third, the breakfast was amazing. Shannon and Joe did a wonderful job making the dining experience wonderful. I really loved Shannon's french toast. Joe was also very attentive to the guests. Overall, it was such a wonderful experience. I would love to visit again someday. The location is also quite convenient. You are walking distance away from many cafes, stores, and restaurants. Just moments before we were going to walk to dinner at The Inn at Little Washington, it started to pour torrentially. The owner of the Gay Street Inn offered to drive us so that we would not get soaked walking. It was such a nice thing to do, and we really appreciated the thoughtfulness. We did not opt to have breakfast here, but we thoroughly enjoyed our short visit, the comfortable bed, and and cottage-core feel.

We were struggling to pull up the door code at first but we were let in (I believe by Drew) and welcomed us into their B&B and our room. The room was pretty spacious for the two of us and it was beautifully decorated. It had anything we really needed for the one night. We booked the Bed & Breakfast rate which included breakfast the next morning (sadly we missed it) and two cocktails that we picked the day prior in our mini fridge. We enjoyed both of those and loved that it included mixers if we wanted. The extra drinks were much appreciated as well. The bed felt a little weird for me and got a little sore but my girlfriend seemed to like it. Check out was pretty simple. We basically just had to leave the key and walk out. Drew and Deb really made things easy for us and everything was seamless. If we ever did come back, I would love to stay again.

The only downsides were that the fire pit solo stove didn't have a lid to help it go out so we had to wait outside longer than we planned until it went out and there were a good amount of bugs (expected in the area the cabin is but it was still a lot). The views and our overall experience at the cabin was exactly what we were hoping for so we will definitely be back! We were near plenty of places in a nearby town for meals and groceries and our goal was to complete the Old Rag hike and we were close enough to do it! :)

The privacy is on point. The hottub and the swing, perfect! We did some grocery shopping to make our meals on site. They also had a small grill. The washer and dryer in the cabin made a huge difference because we went hiking a couple times and it was hot out! The only thing that threw me for a loop was their small pond. It looked amazing in photos but in person it was a small pond with rocks and gravel. But everything else was wonderful! You can go offsite to see beautiful waterfalls etc. There is a community rec center across the street with a large pool. We stopped in to see it. Staff there was informative and friendly. So if you wanted to hop out of the Hawksbill gate and go across the street you can enjoy the pool!

They remind me of stalls to wash animals. I wouldn't advise going barefoot in the bathroom or shower.

Two minutes later, the individuals identify themselves as the owners while on the phone with the Sheriffs department requesting they escort this family off premise. All knowing the compromising position that would put this family in. I question the integrity of any small business owners who put their patrons in immediate danger as they did that evening Our incident was unwarranted and unprofessional! If all rules were enforced in the manner that was exemplified that night, NO ONE would be allowed on premise. I'll list the few rules breached during our stay; rowdy group loud until 3am, dogs off leash, generators being used, underage drinking & lastly underage children working... I would HIGHLY recommend you stay elsewhere, for the safety of you, your family & friends!
