Have to give this place all the stars, we had it three times in one week! Our first time coming in, the service was super quick and the lady saw my son and gave him a toy. I love how sweet she is! The entire staff was friendly and super helpful as well. XLBs, beef stew, and chicken wonton soup (not pictured) but my bf's parents enjoyed it! All 100/10 rec, haven't had one bite I didn't like. Definitely our new go to spot for a quick dim sum dinner. A nice take out spot or eat in, ample space inside for colder nights but definitely enjoy the outside seating.
First time visiting. I don't know a lot about dumplings. Maybe take my fist dumpling review with a grain of salt. That being said I would still recommend this place. The place itself was not busy, looked clean. Average fast food style. Service was average. Overall no complaints. I tried the spicy chicken dumplings and genuinely enjoyed them. I had a side of spicey cucumber salad. I particularly liked that it tasted freshly made. I don't care for pork or seafood items much, so I did find my options limited. If you have a craving and don't have time for sit down, then I definitely recommend.
Server at the register was great with the kiddos, gave them squishy treats and conversed about his video game connections. Made for a great ambiance of a casual lunch meal! Xiao long baos, fried chicken, beef noodle soup, cucumber salad & Bok choy were all yummy. Spicy stuff wasn't too spicy, the kids could still eat most of it. Spicy Beef noodle soup was definitely a highlight. Some of was served on paperware with disposable utensils, but it honestly didn't take away from the flavors. We were happy to be casual for the meal. Great umami in each dish, wrappers weren't too thick. We'd be back.
If the Michelin Guide came in an LAXpress newsstand,it would be the quivalent of Luscious Dumpling. You know there is something good inside, but it's going to make you feel cheap. There is no service here. You order and pay via QR code, and yet they have the audacity to make tipping an option. I suppose they bring you your food, but it's setved in paper plates with plastic utensils. Which, I might add you need to dispose of yourself. The 3 stars are earned by the food, which if you ignore the presentation, is very good. Yet, it comes at full service prices. I'd rather have my beef noodle soup and eat it too.
One would never expect to find such an authentic dumpling shop and Chinese eatery in an outdoor mall. My husband and I had a variety of food and everything hit the spot! The xiao long baos (we got crab & pork, and waygu beef) were bursting with delicious soup... I think these were the juiciest I've had in Southern California. The scallion pancakes were the best I've ever had. The inside was chewy while the outside was crunchy and best yet, they were not overly greasy. We placed our order via QR code and the waitstaff got our order out pretty quickly. Too bad Eastlake is so far from me or else you'd see me here quite often.
I was so looking forward to the invite by one of my mother's senior friends to join three other of her Chinese lady friends to eat lunch at Luscious Dumpling on June 25th, 2026. My mother passed away May 2009, and these ladies were her friends who are still living. They are all in their 90s. I am age 75. I have no one to eat Chinese food with and share dim sum. So I was greatly looking forward to meeting with these ladies whom I haven't seen maybe for 30 years. Well I was trying to avoid the toll road to get to Luscious Dumpling and I made the mistake of not getting on the 805 at the 52 freeway. I saw that the 805 met the 5 freeway down in Chula Vista. I was looking on my Google maps GPS while I was driving and the 805 was still ahead of me and the GPS showed my car moving towards the 805. But in reality I never met up with a 8:05 even though the GPS showed it was approaching. I ended up in Mexico. And from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. I had to sit at my car in at the border checkpoint trying to get back to the United States. I couldn't call my mother's friend because I didn't have her phone number and my phone did not work in Mexico anyways. You sit in your car for 5 hours just to move half a mile. And they don't provide porta potties like they did at the San Diego County Fair where we had to wait 2 hours in the school parking lot for free shuttle to the fair. They had about four porta parties. All these Mexican vendors came to my car where they're selling churros and colorful kids toys. They said their wait was anywhere from one and a half hours to 3 hours from the point where I was at. When I got to the checkpoint at 5:00 p.m., I told the agent that I was supposed to meet these ladies at Luscious Dumpling in Chula Vista and he finished the sentence for me "And you ended up in Mexico". He asked for a passport and I said "Passport !!! I never dreamed I'd be coming to Mexico". He waved me on with a laugh. Well, I drove an additional 8 Miles to go to Luscious Dumpling anyways. After all I drove 32 miles to get to that 805 and waited 5 hours at the border. I was still going to eat there. When I arrived there were two families were sitting there but they were not Asians. I told the employee what happened and he saw I had a bad day. When I looked at their menu I had to pay cheapest $14.95 for eight pieces of the same thing that I had no one to share with. I asked him if he had a combo where I could taste different dumplings for one price as if I was going to eat with those ladies and share orders. He said no but he couldn't make me one. He also told me that Xiao Long Bao was not included in making me an assortment of dumplings but he changed his mind because of my ordeal and my disappointment that I said that Xiao Long Bao is the biggest test of how a restaurant Xiao Long Bao is and I would be basing my review on their Xiao Long Bao. So he said he would include Xiao Long Bao in his package for me to try. I ordered two of each of the three three kinds of Xiao Long Bao that was not vegan. And one pork and veggie dumpling (two pieces). There were only eight pieces but it cost me $20 for the eight pieces. The Xiao Long Bao was the best I've ever eaten in terms of the size and that the wrapper that held the meat was very soft and spread out at the bottom because it was so flexible and soft like a cloth bag. I put the whole thing in my mouth and when I bit the soup squirted out. So five stars for the Xiao Long Bao and five stars for the employee willing to accommodate my request for an assortment. 3 stars for I felt like $20 for 8 pieces was too much for me to come again just for the food alone. The one dumpling that was pork and veggie was nothing special. I am happy with frozen dumplings as comparison Unless these ladies were going to eat there again I would not come back on my own even if this business were closer to my house, to pay that kind of money. I would only come if I was going to share with other ladies and that would be for the social event for meeting up with my mother's old friends from 30 years ago, not for the quality and "price deal" of the food here. So all together I would rate Luscious Dumpling four stars. If it were not for the employee willingness to make me a custom sampler and include the Xiao Long Bao, my review would be three stars for the taste and value for price paid. I forgot to take pictures of my 8 dumplings because it was 6:00 and I hadn't eaten all day and right away I ate the eight dumplings at a table outside.
Very self-serve feel. The waiters/waitress comes with the food but you get your own bowls, forks, water and etc. The cold dishes - cucumber, broccoli, wood ear and seaweed - were all super perfect in flavor! Dumplings were all pretty good! The pork and shrimp soup dumpling and the chive fried dumpling were perfect! We had a shrimp fried dumpling but I didn't quite like the flavor. We got 3 noodles: the pork belly, beef noodle and the wonton. The most flavorful was the beef noodle. I didn't love the soup noodles and felt that the star of the dinner was the dumplings. My daughter normally doesn't like dumpling, but she loved all the ones we had. I would definite come back. The price was set perfectly - not the typical overpriced for what you get. Overall I'm satisfied! The animal flavors were a surprise and they were a great end of the meal! Lastly, the ambiance was okay. The shop is very bare minimum and the tables felt cramped with so much food on it. Eat fast or else you'll run out of space. We're a family of 5 and it was tight!
Jayden was excellent and super helpful! I love this place and food. I've had the dumplings and they are delicious. Card only so don't bring cash! This is a 2021 Michelin cafe. The cafe is nice and welcoming. The interior is nice, but could maybe use a bit more color. Today, I enjoyed the shrimp tempura. I recommend visiting the next time you're in Eastlake
My daughter and I stopped by Luscious Dumplings a few weeks ago while we were in the area. The place was a little crowded, but I was greeted as soon as we walked in. We decided to order the scallion pancakes, spicy wontons and dumplings. Everything was really good. The food was flavorful. We'll definitely return.
I will come back to try other dishes.. Hands down.. food presentation is mid imho BUT, it's all about how the food tastes.. when the flavor hits the palate that's when the phenomenal experience begins. It left me thinking, this is better than the average dumplings at convoy and exceeds the bougie dumplings at La Jolla, and it doesn't break the bank even if you plan on bringing the whole family.. service is pretty fast. Ambiance is casual and I love it!
Shrimp tempura is a great deal: $8.49 for 6 shrimp. I like ordering from the QR code so I don't feel rushed.
Really good, all items we order were very delicious and service was fast. It's a dine in place, but there's no waiters. You come in, sit down and scan a QR code to order the food. Prides are affordable.
The service was fast. It's a self-service type, and sit wherever you want. The place is kinda small with max capacity of 34. There's available tables at the patio area. The food is good and being served hot and fresh.

I was in the area for a friends birthday party and needed somewhere to grab dinner beforehand. I had heard about this place because they came from LA and had a Michelin bib gourmand so thought it was worth a visit. It's a casual dining experience where you can just sit wherever and scan the QR codes to order your food where it will be delivered to whichever table you sit at. The menu is more focused compared to other Chinese restaurants and offers fewer items which helps prevent you from being paralyzed at how many choices other Chinese menus can throw at you. Me and my partner went with the beef noodle soup, spicy chicken chili wontons, popcorn chicken and the pan fried dumplings. I will say that each dish was slightly different than what I normally expect. For example the wonton's sauce was not thick and felt more soy sauce forward than other spicy wontons I've had. The beef noodle soup also wasn't too spicy and felt sweeter than some other soups I've had. This isn't to say that they were bad as they still tasted good, it was just different than what I'm used to. As for the popcorn chicken and the pan fried dumplings, they didn't taste out of the norm and fried/seasoned well! Overall, it's solid and if I did live around here I wouldn't mind coming by! read more
Happened to be in the area and the locals seemed to have a high opinion of this mom and pop looking place. The location is really nice for a shopping center/mall. The interior is very basic, so it's not a place to go if you want a fancy sit down restaurant. It's also no Din Tai Fung, although the menu has many of the same types of items. That being said, there is plenty of seating to accommodate the clientele considering the size of the place; and we were there during peak dining hours and it was just fine. Sat quickly w/ wife and kid. The menu is extensive, think dim sum to the max. They apparently were awarded a Michelin star for something in 2021, but I was too hungry to worry about that. We ordered Chicken Dumplings, Pork Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) and green onion pancakes. Sesame Brócoli and Thai Tea. All were quite good, but none stood out as superior to places we have eaten at here in San Diego. I'd give each item a solid 3.5/5, and the service itself a 5/5 as they were fast and quick to accommodate us when we had a problem with one of the dishes. They also gave us some pan fried pork dumplings and I have to say I enjoyed those the most 4.5/5. The Thai tea is forgettable and overpriced for what you get. The broccoli w/ sesame is interesting but served cold and the sauce is extremely overpowering. The flavor stays in your mouth for hours! Overall, though, based on excellent and swift service and good (not great) food, they're definitely a place we would visit more regularly if we lived in the area. read more

Deep down, I want to gate keep this, but it wouldn't be fair. This place had a Michelin 2021 recognition and it's just not fair that they have not gotten a star. For me. Everything on the menu is 10 out of 5.. except for the stewed pork belly noodle. Service was good. One can order by using their tap screen or speaking to someone. Ambiance was casual dinning... in my Opinion, luscious dumplings would excel if they opened in a true sit down restaurant. This place is worth all the attention. read more

I went here twice in one week. I haven't seen or experienced anything that I don't like in this place. It's a fast-food dumplings place. Clean and have an open space vibe. Very limited tables and you order via QR code or the counter The food is amazing. Specially the soup dumpling. This is a great place if you are craving for something quick and easy dim-sum. read more

I come here regularly..u wanna know why? Because the moment i come In the guy upfront Jalen greets you with a big smile and automatically makes u feel welcome! He already knows what my order and right away he gets it prepared and makes my visit very smooth. Andrea has a very inviting aura and she does her job with a smile. The ambience is pretty casual and the dining area is clean no bugs or any of that unappealing issues. In fact they got the MICHELIN 2021 that says alot for a food spot! You must come and try their dumpling,popcorn chicken and the only place i get my THAI TEA WITH KONJAC BOBA! the best thai tea from all the places i been. read more

We heard this spot is part of the Michelin Guide in LA and we're always down for some good Taiwanese food. Space: ample seating and plenty of sunlight. It's easy to order by the QR code on the table. Food: they don't have an elaborative menu but still plenty enough to choose a variety from and each item was reasonably-priced. We got the pork xiao long bao, popcorn chicken, Dan Dan noodles, and scallion pancakes. I enjoyed all and couldn't really pick any favorites! As somebody who has visited Taiwan many times in the past, this is definitely one of the most authentic you can get here. Staff: very friendly and accommodating! Our server was fun to chat with. Our bill came out to about $50 for all and it was plenty for two people! read more

Luscious Dumplings is a self serve restaurant which kind of threw me off. Essentially you seat yourself, order from your phone, pay, and wait for your food. You also need to go get plates, chopsticks, napkins, etc. The whole experience felt strange but I also didn't mind at the same time. As for the food, 5 stars!! I highly recommend trying their award winning Pork Pan Fried Dumplings. They were chewy and soft, while also having a little char on the outside. I also tried a dumpling that had Cheese, Beef, and Onion, almost like a burger dumpling which was really good. Lastly, I would recommend getting their Dan Dan noodles and add any protein of your choice, great dish for those hot days. Overall I would say a good experience, prices are reasonable, but I hate paper plates which is why I can't give it a 5 star. Would I go again? Yes, but I would order take out. read more
As someone visiting from Hawaii, we don't often have access to great xiao long bao. I was excited to try some near our family. The store is smaller inside but still has a good amount of seating. All orders are taken via QR code and they have disposable cutlery. Since we were meeting a friend we ordered a bunch on the menu. Honestly everything was great! I particularly like the pan friend dumplings over the xiao long bao. It's crisp and juicy. We also had spicy pork dumplings and the sauce had a good oily kick. My personal fave is the popcorn chicken. We also got a mushroom rice dish and I was glad we got that because veggies are needed. The sauce on it was nice too. I didn't care too much for cucumber dish personally, but that's alright! Last thing, the servers were very nice here. I appreciated the speed of cleaning up despite the large party just leaving the restaurant. read more

I want to give this place 5 stars so badly, and we will definitely be back soon to try more items! Located in a large, busy plaza, but surprisingly parking wasn't an issue. We came on a Wednesday night so it wasn't crowded at all. The host was friendly, answered our questions, and gave great recommendations. One thing I really didn't love: all of our food came out in to-go containers. We ordered two sets of dumplings and expected the steamer basket experience, but instead everything came in plastic boxes and plastic utensils. The strange part wasn't even that they used to-go and containers, it was that they didn't correct it. We were clearly dining in as the other items were served before this (paper containers), scanned the QR code at the table, so I'm not sure where the disconnect happened. We ordered the following (all sets of 8), ranked by my favorites: Popcorn Chicken - My #1 item. That house sauce + secret spicy powder is elite. Shrimp & Pork Wontons - Fun to eat; just make sure everything is mixed well. Yuzu Pork Soup Dumpling - Must. Must. MUST order. Pork Soup Dumpling - A classic staple done well. Cucumber Salad - Honestly better than Din Tai Fung. Baby Bok Choi I'd reorder all of these again in a heartbeat. I was told the most popular items are the Beef Noodle Soup and the Beef & Cheese Fried Dumplings, so those are next on my list. Overall, the whole to-go container situation was awkward especially paired with grabbing your own utensils and drinks, plus bussing your own table. Maybe it's meant to be more fast-casual, but the expectation wasn't clear. TL;DR: We tipped upfront expecting full service but ended up with to-go containers and doing everything ourselves. Luscious Dumplings came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. I'm only disappointed that I didn't dine-in but rather did take out. The food was packed securely and snug in the togo bag. As a dedicated beef noodle soup enthusiast, I can confirm this one is the absolute best. It included a generous amount of noodles, veggies, and beef. Premium, exceptionally tender; that's how I'd describe the beef. The broth was deeply flavorful with a medium degree of spiciness, not mild yet not overly spicy where it overpowers everything. First experience at Luscious Dumplings which happened to be voted a 2021 Michelin rated restaurant in Chula Vista, CA. It's tucked to the right of Nothing Bundt Cakes. I was craving wonton soup for dinner instead of ordering dumplings. To order your food, the waiters prefer you order by taking a photo of the QR code. Can't say enough about their dumplings! I recently feasted on Luscious Dumplings, and I am already craving them again. It's a bit cramped inside the restaurant but there are plenty of seats including a bar style seating, which I sat at. There were condiments at every table, and it is self-serve when it comes to water and utensils. Cucumber Salad (5/5): A simple but refreshing appetizer to share! They dressed up the cucumbers and were lightly smashed to absorb the sauce. Popcorn Chicken (4/5): Standard, juicy pieces of fried chicken served with a mayo sauce. Solid, but would not order this again. Yuzu Chicken Soup Dumplings (4/5): Delicious chicken soup inside each dumpling and the flavor was there. Crab & Pork Soup Dumplings (5/5): Both of the crab and pork provided so much flavor when you bite into it! This one was my favorite to order. Not much service but the staff still acknowledged guests as they came in and left and still went around asking about the quality of the food. I've never been disappointed here. The staff are extremely sweet and helpful. The food and vibes feel like a more chill version of a very specific fancy dumpling spot at the UTC Mall in La Jolla. The place was delicious and we loved everything we ordered. Pick a table, order AND pay off the QR code. Every restaurant should do this. Allows you to take your time, order when ready, and leave right away when done. The only weird thing was that it asked for a tip and to pay immediately after ordering. We didn't know what type of service otherwise there was so perhaps they can separate the payment for afterwards. So everyone knows, you order, and for the drinks, they call your name and you have to go up to the counter to get the cups. For the food, they brought it over to the table. You bus the table afterwards yourself. Green onion pancake was tasty and I loved that they added fresh green onions. It was very oily though. The pan fried pork dumplings were delicious. They were kind of in between a potsticker, a shen jian bao, and a dumpling. They had thick skin and also soup inside, so best to kind of eat it like a XLB otherwise, you'll pop the dumpling and lose all the precious, juicy, flavor. I really enjoyed the shrimp, pork, and chive boiled dumplings. Lastly, the spicy cucumber salad was so flavorful and delicious with the mala taste. Table comes with a chili oil and a sweet chili oil plus the typical soy sauce and black vinegar for your sauce. The dishware was disposable even though they seemed a tad too nice to be yet not quite like real dishware. But the instructions at the trash can was that everything was trash except the metal silverware and actual XLB steamed metal containers. The parking lot was insane at lunch time on a Friday so keep that in mind. Go further away towards Five below and it's less crazy. read more
