When I contacted President Jason Blair at the time for financial compensation, he claimed that a sub contractor by the name of Kevin E. Fitzgerald was responsible & would only offer to grind the stump & plant a tree. Jason also claimed the sub contractor Kevin would contact me , but he never did. When I checked on their licenses at the time, neither company or person was licensed. So based on that info, one can assume that neither was insured either. What bonafide insurance company would insure an unlicensed company ? Irresponsible !

I just assumed that there must be a break somewhere in the line and wanted to have an estimate to fix it. Jason looked and listened to the valve when it was turned on and immediately thought that the diaphragm inside the valve was not open all the way. He suggested that I change it to see if that would fix it first. If it doesn't he explained what he would do to fix it and his charges. Of course Jason was spot on correct in his diagnosis and the sprinkler line was intact and worked fine after I changed the diaphragm. Jason was so willing to share his knowledge and recommendations at no charge. I will definitely make use of his service in the future and recommend him to my neighbors. Jason is the real deal!! We were fortunate these folks were willing and able to assist us with the prompt assessment and removal of a problematic tree on our property line. In fact - they went above beyond! In addition to removal of the felled tree, they also removed a few pesky offshoot trees, old shrubbery, and previously cut branches that were in the way. Mark kindly included this additional work in the original price! Truly an excellent value for their service, and we would not hesitate to recommend them for any job requiring a licensed arborist. As a side note: Please do yourself a big favor and go with a professionally licensed (and insured) arborist, not an amateur handyman. I have been seeking people and services to do this job for a while, and there's some shady folks out there. I'll tell you from experience: a $5k quote from some guy in a pickup truck just to cut down the tree is NOT the way to go. (Mark and crew did that AND removed the tree for disposal ...for LESS!) Said person couldn't even produce a business card, let alone proof of a business license. Hey, buddy - just because someone in the neighborhood had you do some handy work for them, it DOES NOT mean you can safely fell a 2 story tall tree that's less than 10 feet from our roofline. Also beware of lowball offers from some guys driving around the neighborhood. If anyone gets hurt or something goes wrong - bad times. It's worth the price for having the job done right when you have a contract with a reasonable professional.

The gentlemen that was there helped us pick it out and was very clear on the fact that we didn't want the smaller more common flower tree. We paid a pretty penny extra for this rare variety. It's been a year, it has finally blossomed and low and behold, to much of our disappointment it's the standard sized flower variety. I called the nursery and the guy I spoke too wasn't even remotely apologetic nor did he give any kind of option to remedy the problem. Just kept saying "I don't know, I don't know." And I'm like no I'm trying to tell you you guys sold us the wrong puakenikeni and you should make good bc we give you lots of business. I am a frequent plant nursery shopper. We landscaped and installed an irrigation system for our entire backyard and purchased all our plants and trees from nurseries in Waimanalo. I put my trust in the people who work at the nurseries that they are knowledgable and trustworthy when we ask them to pull plants for us. I have had this problem before with another nursery when they were supposed to pull 5 of the same heliconia variety and we ended up with 4 different types of heliconia, but when I called them and showed pictures they were so apologetic and credited us for new plants and we were able to get new ones. I am very disappointed in Akamai Nursery and hoped they would make good on their mistake, but nope. We have spent almost $1000 there and going forward I will take my business elsewhere. If you are like me and just want to have your garden or landscaping done now and don't want to wait years for the plants to grow to make your place look nice then this is the place you need to come. They literally have acres of land that one of the workers can either drive you around or they will bring the plants up to you. We were fortunate to have the owner take us around. We showed him some pictures of the plants we were looking for and he knew exactly where they were and drove us to look at the plants and to pick which ones we wanted. To some the plants maybe on the high side but you are paying for the years they had to take care of the plants to get to that stage of maturity. They also have young plants as well and they are very price competitive. As always do your homework on which plants you are looking for and hopefully you have the names and pictures to show them. We will be back for sure for all our garden and landscaping needs.
