I didn't actually hire them, and here's why. I had issues with ponding in my backyard, and wanted my French drains cleaned. I asked for a quote on a Saturday, and got a reply back within a couple of hours. We then chatted via text for a bit, where they explained that my French drains could probably use a cleaning, but they are actually working the way they are supposed to be working. And they told me how I can clean them myself. I really appreciated their time, and how they did not unnecessarily charge me to deal with my "problem." Well ... I met up with the owner Richard 2 weeks ago at my home in Mililani for him to take a look at my yard and to discuss some landscaping ideas. He was pleasant enough and seemed to know his plants. The last thing that he told me before he left was that "he'd get back to me with an estimate within a week". 18 days later, still no word from him. No call, email, or text. Very disappointing. I understand that landscape companies are busy but if word of mouth and reputation are a large part of your field of expertise, at least live up to what you say you're gonna do. All in all, he genuinely seemed like a really nice guy so I'll be generous and go with a 2 star rating. In all seriousness though ... I really think that they should consider changing their name from Reliable Landscaping to Un-Reliable Landscaping. read more

I'm not sure how Richard and Reliable Landscaping could get a bad review. He showed up on time I had multiple issues to resolve on his visit. He then went out of his way to show me I could fix 1 of the issues myself so that it could save myself and my family money he even helped with parts. I got quoted to replace a back pressure valve from a company for 8000 dollars and a second company for 9200. Richard helped tap and dye the piece instead of a full valve replacement which saved my family thousands of dollars. He was kind patient and extremely helpful. I cannot imagine this man ever not showing or missing an appointment. The company is busy but be patient its worth the wait for excellent service and fair pricing. I'm a military member and good timely service has been hard to come by. This company I will use again and pass his card to anyone that asks and even some that don't. read more

Do not EVER use Reliable Landscaping to maintain your yard. We used them out in Ewa Beach to service our home and they are horrible! Whenever they would do the yard, it looked clumpy, and not even. If you want them to prune your trees/bushes, they charge more (on top of their already high $75 per visit). What pissed me off most of all is that if it rained, they would NOT come, and they would STILL CHARGE you for it. Also, if you're not going to be home, and happen to forget to unlock or open your gate, rather than call you for a reschedule, they STILL CHARGE you for that too even if they don't do anything on your yard. Super lame. That is NOT the way to conduct business. BIG THUMBS DOWN! Reliable Landscaping is not so reliable after all. read more

I used them for about 6 months and was so unhappy with them...the yard never looked smooth, I don't think they know how to use the right equipment the grass was always uneven. They are quick to point out expensive jobs that they can do as well...why in the world would I hire them to do something more when they can't even do simple yard maintenance well??? They are also overpriced...my former yardman charged me much less and did a much better job...too bad he retired!! My big mistake was keeping them on after the 1st month!!! NEVER use Reliable Landscaping for drainage work or yard repair. They were contracted to install drainage pipe and hook up to downspouts and run out the front wall. My father-in-law who is a retired plumber was there to watch and said they didn't know anything - not using the correct pipe, not having the proper slope, and not using the correct pipe junctions. And the sod grass was not placed properly over the work area. They came back to fix the problems and finally got the piping correct although it is still not the proper thickness They still didn't correct the sod. read more

Highly recommended Landscaping company. The crew was quick, precise, polite and professional. The owner was cheerful, knowledgeable, and informative. The owner followed up in person when the job was complete for a walkthrough. I pointed out some things that I wasn't sure I liked, and he had the crew out the next day, no questions, no problems, just to make sure that everything was absolutely perfect, and to my liking. I had my property graded to allow water to flow away from the house, and plumbing buried in the yard that runs from my gutter downspouts out to the end of the driveway. I also had them roto-till the yard, mix in soil condition and grade the lot in preparation for me to put down grass sod myself. I also had a small concrete slab installed and some nice rocks put in the backyard where there is not enough sunlight for grass. They just did a fantastic job. read more

A while back I noticed that whenever my sprinkler system was on that there would be flooding on one side of our home. Reliable came out assessed the situation and said that you do not have a leak and the reason for the water pooling was that the contour of that location was the lowest elevation so hence the pooling. I never thought much of it until one day I asked the guy who was trimming our trees, his opinion. Within a few minutes he said you have a leak, and pointed to where it was. Within a hour he located the hole in the PVC repaired it and haven't had any pooling since. So based on my experience I would not recommend them. read more

We tried to contact several different companies to add to our existing sprinkler system and then also put in sod or seed in the back yard. Many of the companies we contacted were either out of business or didn't return calls. Of the 3 "finalists", we chose Reliable due to reputation. Yes, we did our due diligence and contacted references, etc. Their bid was fairly easy to understand and the communications between office and client (us) was really good! Once we selected Reliable, we were given an estimate of work to begin in about a month and a half. They called a few weeks later and wanted to know if they could move the schedule up a couple of weeks, which was great! Our project consisted of installing sprinklers around about 900 sq. feet of "new" lawn and about 800 sq. feet of flowers, etc. Some of the flower bed work involved connecting into our little drip system. They also connected and rebuilt our existing 4 zone system. The end result was a zone for the front yard, 1 for the back yard, 1 for the front flowers/shrubs, and 1 for the side and back garden/flowers. Just what we asked for. Alan recommended sod for the "new & rebuilt" backyard, which is what we did and we're glad we did, too! The crews would arrive daily and quietly and simply do their work. They always cleaned up each night, which is important to me as I am also a contractor. When the job was completed, Richard (the owner) came to the house to go over the final inspection. He had several good pointers on watering for us (yeah...we were OVER watering) and went through sprinkler maintenance, adjustments, etc. They had an entire checklist of things for "sign-off". Would I use them again? Honestly....in a heartbeat. It's easy to write negative reviews and not back them up. For us, it was a very positive experience and I'll be happy to show you the results any time you want to see them. Total contract, under 8K and that included pruning up the mango tree. Richard is a knowledgeable and friendly person who won't try to sell you something you don't want and he doesn't pressure you to use his company. Mr. John Long, owner of Reliable Landscaping and Sprinklers, really impressed me with his professionalism and honesty. He could have told us that we needed to totally re-design the Japanese garden, if he wanted to make big profit. Instead, he told me that I should keep the design intact because it was a good design, which looked good and allowed for efficient water flow. He recommended that we remove the small gravel and reuse it to save money. He removed all of the small gravel and placed thick weed barrier and replaced the small gravel and added larger gravel to keep the gravel in place. He recommended that we remove the mondo grass, which was being overrun by our lawn grass. In its place, he added the large gravel and placed smooth river rock to form an appearance of river running through the Japanese garden. He got rid of 2 plants which had thorny branches and replaced with more appropriated Japanese. plants. He also cut down and reshaped our large bush, which was getting out of control. The improvements made to the front garden is fantastic. It looks great and it will certainly cut down on weekly maintenance. Mr. Long aslo recommended that we remove the ground cover on back yard slope which has been a problem due to weed growing out of control. He replaced it with grass plugs to make it a grassy slope, which would eliminate the need to pull weeds every week. He also check and fixed all sprinkler heads that had been damaged. He was going to only fix the head but ended up digging to find the sprinklers and leaking pipe. He was able to fix them without increasing the cost of his proposal. We were really impressed that he returned the lawn to the original condition despite all of the digging. His workers were polite and worked hard to complete the project in 3 days. Mr. Long came back to fix sprinkler piping which was not part of the proposal without asking for increase in the proposed amount. I highly recommend him to anyone that wants a "reliable" and honest landscaper. read more

I have been with this company for years and the owner Richard just cancelled my account because his workers could not get through my security gate. I had good service with a previous employee that recently moved to the mainland but since he left, my service went downhill. It seems so coincidental that my bushes are dying. I don't know why but it is since the new crew started. The new workers that I encountered could barely speak english and they had troubles getting through my security gate. They said that they called me to open the gate several times but I had not "ONE" missed call from them. I even sent the owner a screen shot of my call log on my cell phone to prove it. User error or lies. Anyway, I think that way they handled my demise was unacceptable. I think that the company is on the decline. DO NOT USE RELIABLE LANDSCAPE!
