Mark Leon and the crew from Sunshine Arbor Care (part of Sunshine Landscape) were excellent to work with. They were professional, respectful of our property, got the job done safely and quickly. We were fortunate these folks were willing and able to assist us with the prompt assessment and removal of a problematic tree on our property line. In fact - they went above beyond! In addition to removal of the felled tree, they also removed a few pesky offshoot trees, old shrubbery, and previously cut branches that were in the way. Mark kindly included this additional work in the original price! Truly an excellent value for their service, and we would not hesitate to recommend them for any job requiring a licensed arborist. As a side note: Please do yourself a big favor and go with a professionally licensed (and insured) arborist, not an amateur handyman. I have been seeking people and services to do this job for a while, and there's some shady folks out there. I'll tell you from experience: a $5k quote from some guy in a pickup truck just to cut down the tree is NOT the way to go. (Mark and crew did that AND removed the tree for disposal ...for LESS!) Said person couldn't even produce a business card, let alone proof of a business license. Hey, buddy - just because someone in the neighborhood had you do some handy work for them, it DOES NOT mean you can safely fell a 2 story tall tree that's less than 10 feet from our roofline. Also beware of lowball offers from some guys driving around the neighborhood. If anyone gets hurt or something goes wrong - bad times. It's worth the price for having the job done right when you have a contract with a reasonable professional. read more

Mark Leon, President, made a house call without a charge. He pointed out that Fern Trees are not indigenous and are, in fact, invasive. Contacted to have a tree removed, several other trees trimmed and a dead tree removed. Both trees were removed and stumps grounded so they don't result in possible tripping on the remnants or roots. Mark was able to do all of this work within a single day, even bringing the stump grinder on a second trip since the area doesn't have much street space. They also protected the foundation of my house from further mango tree root damage, by installing a barrier in my yard. Mark has cut trees for me on two occasions. We live along a stream and access to the cut area is down a 12' slope and across the stream. He is a skilled arborist and good at rigging. Mark is a scam artist. Ripped me off, never finished the job. Told me to take him to court, if I wasn't happy.

Our neighbor used this company. They started work at 8am on a Sunday morning. Professionals know the noise ordinance prohibits loud work till 9am on Sundays. I would never use this company. The police came and they stopped working, about 2 minutes after the police left the workmen started their noisy saws again! The home owner told them to stop and wait till 9am. Mark and crew recently pruned a large tree on our property. The tree was overhanging our garage and every few years Mark would come up and just cut back the parts that could fall onto the building. This year we decided to have the tree properly pruned. It's one thing to show up with this large truck with your company name visible for the community to see but the quality of work says it all. SLOPPY!! What should have been cut and blown to show a clean look was also gathered and lifted and placed atop the side of the road by an employee until he was told to stop cause he didn't do the whole road. SLOPPY!!! Idon't get it...you use a riding mower with an arm to cut the side of the bank which isn't a clean cut - more like maybe 8 inches high because you have a plan...the POISON will take care of KILLING what's left. Then the rain comes and empties into a cement groove leading down into the drain into the earth leading to the water table down into the stream and into the bay. And HHFDC paid for this. Unreal. I wouldn't hire them. Forgot to mention they didn't even bother cutting over growth above the head for whatever reason, maybe it wasn't in the plan. Again, SLOPPY!! read more

I agree with previous review that Mark Leon of Sunshine Landscape is a scammer. I doubt the legitimacy of other, 5 star reviews - likely posted by Mark himself. Mark had scheduled my job number of times but he could never make it, always arriving with most pathetic excuses. First off, he didn't figure out how to answer his phone (the skill that can be mastered by most primates). Besides, after he discovers how to call you back, his excuses for not showing up or rescheduling are just offensive. I don't know how dishonest person like him stays in business. But don't just take my word for it. If you are looking for someone arrogant, who will waste your time and drive you insane - look no further, Mark is your guy. Just don't expect him to pickup the phone, that would be too much to ask of someone who's trying to run a business.
