This principle typically applies to services provided within medical spas, regardless of whether a specific treatment is performed by a medical provider or an esthetician. Because the service is offered under the medical spa's clinical umbrella and within a healthcare-related environment, patients reasonably expect the advertised price to reflect the full cost of care. Soliciting tips in this setting can create confusion regarding pricing, blur professional boundaries, and undermine the distinction between healthcare services and traditional hospitality services. The business acknowledges med spa separation from their day spa services. You receive multiple emails, forms to sign, etc. indicating a treatment that is treated as a procedure done under medical setting. It should be left to a patient discretion to provide a token of gratuity if they decide to do so, but in the med spa setting, there should not be expectation of the same tipping practice as for the traditional day spa services.
