The first time I walked into Lush, I was really confused. I saw tire-sized blocks of soap and $7 "bath bombs" and thought to myself, no f--king way. I'm just fine with the "buy 3, get 3 free" deals at Bath and Body Works, thanks. But I must say, after hearing rave reviews of the products, I've become a Lush convert. The store seems kind of intimidating to the uninitiated - many of the bar soaps are displayed in very large blocks, for example, and you may have to ask the salesperson to chisel off a piece for you to buy (seriously). But once you get the hang of it, Lush is a really fun place to pick up a few splurge items for your bathtub. Stick around for a few minutes and start sniffing - I guarantee you'll find something you like. And the salespeople here are really helpful without being pushy - they'll even demonstrate the effect of some of the products on your hand and arm, leading to yummy silky-smooth skin. Out of all the Lush products I've tried, I'd recommend the Big shampoo and the Retread conditioner - they transform my hair into a thick, sexy mane. I also love the Buffy exfoliator bar, The Comforter bubble bar, and the Snow Fairy shower gel (available only in winter). I pick up a bath bomb from time to time, but use them sparingly since they're about $5 each and you can only use them once! read more

Whenever we make it to Woodfield, my kids (5 and 2) make a beeline for Lush, where the super cool staff indulges them by demonstrating bubbles and bath bombs until the whole store is a fun, bubbly mess. With that said, I guess I had been happily keeping my blinders on w their marketing and equating handmade w chemical free. Unfortunately, I was pretty bummed when I read the ingredients on an impulse lotion buy I made and discovered ingredients that I would normally avoid as a compulsive label reader in other stores. I hope they choose to modify their ingredients to meet the expectations of customers who flock to their fair trade, handmade, natural stores. I will still pick up products there without hormone disruptive ingredients and parabens, but wish it was a place I could just grab anything from and be happy. read more

When I travel I actually seek out other locations to see if they are carrying additional products.....I used to use other National Brand hair products for color treated hair but since December I have used LUSH....Rehab and Happy Happy Joy Joy.....My hair has never been softer! I love LUSH products but the only reason I give this store 3 stars is particularly because of it's small location. I don't why someone thought it waa smart to give them such a small location because there's an abundance of products they provide and if you come suring the holiday season or the weekends it gets very crowded. During this year I went and it was so packed there was hardly any room to shop for or look at the products. One person even knocked something over. Walked in on a whim with very little time to look around before I left the mall. I was quickly greeted and handled by a lovely young woman. I was looking for a shampoo and got much more. The associate was able to make a few suggestions on shampoo bars, of which I was skeptical. The soap is wonderful and the knowledgeable woman (whose name I didn't catch) knew exactly what would fit my needs. She even threw in a few free samples of solid toothpaste, styling cream, and power deodorant and all of them were excellent! I think I've found my new body care store. I really liked the store. Service was good. Prices are on the higher end. It took 20 minutes to check out which was disappointing. I will not go in for Christmas. Store is small for the size of the mall. People kept bumping into me. I enjoyed the whole experience. The store was organized, and I love Lush products. But after not shopping at lush for a while, I decided to treat myself for this new job I've been working and go to Lush! Was very excited to go, because I miss the smells and the bathbombs and everything. But the bad thing, the reason I am giving this store a 3 star rating, was the staff. I work in retail and I am super understanding. But these girls were insane. They were worse than aggressive keoske salesmen! 4 girls were on me at once, 2 of them were rubbing things on my arm and kept trying to get me to buy these oil ball things. I had 2 bathbombs and 2 bubble bars in my basket, so I was already buying a good amount of (expensive) products and they just wouldn't leave me alone and were super energetic in a bad way. It had my anxiety on a high level, and just made me very anxious and nervous and I literally was relieved to be out of there. I wanted to try out Lush products for the reason that they use less packaging and that they were supposed to be natural and hand made. I used the bar shampoo today and I am itching really bad. I also purchased some face cleanser and my lips are burning and my face is itching. I was told that Lush had pretty gentle products that most people don't react too. I also bought the Karma soap and it is totally drying. I am disappointed in the results and am upset that I spent so much money for my skin to itch. Very inconsiderate staff and poor customer service. I went into the store with my mother to buy a gift for a family friend. We chose the pre-wrapped gift box with a flamingo bath bomb, a scrub, and something in a small bottle(I forget what exactly). We paid just under $30 and were pretty excited. In front of other people at the restaurant, our friend opens the box and the scrub has leaked out and gotten on the rest of the items. The bottle was also opened, and we hadn't opened it. The scrub had gotten on our friend's hands at the table and it was very embarrassing to give a gift that was broken. We went back to exchange and the worker shrugged it off and did not seem to care that we were unhappy with the package. We were told "this happens pretty often" and we weren't given an apology until we commented on their rudeness. We did get the box exchanged however, I will not be buying anything from this store anymore. read more

This is going to seem ironic considering my last post on a separate business concerned an issue that was the complete opposite of what this post is regarding. Don't get me wrong, I love many of the products Lush provides but the associates can be almost a little too welcoming. At first I appreciated how much effort they put into their demonstrations and sales pitches. But I can't always afford to shop for what they have and I prefer to simply browse. I felt like on my last visit I was being suffocated by everyone trying to show me various products that I knew I wasn't going to purchase. Again while I can understand that they have quotas to meet, they should also know when to quit. So in a way it's by backing off just a little, that it is more likely for me to return. I don't mind occasionally being pulled aside to test a soap or lotion but I might just start buying from them online than shopping in person. read more

I had never been here before but a friend told me that it's where all the hip girls go for soaps and good smelly stuff. LUSH is basically a fancier, more expensive Bath and Body Works, but it's pretty need. All their products are homemade and made with natural ingredients. I came here to get a gift for my boyfriend's sister and on the package I got, it has the dates each product was made listed right on there so you know how fresh it is. Of course, I have no idea what any of this stuff is and any newbie will surely be overwhelmed. However, the redhead girl who works here was a big help, as are all the people that work at LUSH. She told me what would be best to give as a gift, talking me through it all. It was pretty helpful. I forgot all of it already, though, but still cool. She was really nice and sweet. Wish I could remember her name. Seriously, they are really good with customers. There's no way I could work here because I can't be that nice to people all day. I was a little peeved that she didn't tell me that the tin box to hold one of the soaps was an extra $4, but whatever. It is pricey, but it's an interesting place to try out. I just finished my awesome experience at this location. It was my first time actually going into a store, but I already knew quite a bit about he products they sell. I was greeted by a smiling face who had extensive knowledge on the products and listened to what I said I needed. I walked in knowing that I was going to spend $50-$100 and I walked out spending roughly $90. She made me feel comfortable giving this company my money! The only thing I would say, though.. Please try to make it more discrete when telling employees to greet customers. After being A customer here for over a year I NO longer come here! I bought a bar of soap for over $16 I got it home excited to use it and it was so hard and dry you couldnt lather it or use it. I soaked it in the sink for a few minutes and it kind of softened and made it alittle easier to use. I finall got fed up with the soap it seemed old and dry so I took it back to the store. On the bottom of the receipt it says 31 days if not satisfied return for a full refund. The 2 women at the counter would not give me the 16$ back she weighed it and said its only worth $10.43 I told her I used it 1 time that cant be right. I told her the recept says you get your money back it says nothing about the item being put on the scale. I couldnt have used $6.00 for 1 use. I asked her how old the soap was and she checked the date it was 3 months old. The soap was blue and turning white it was clearly getting old or just a bad batch. BUYER BEWARE THEY DONT GO BY WHAT THEY PUT ON THERE OWN RECEIPT! read more

There's a reason behind Lush's popularity. It is a great company; I know because I have used a variety of Lush products (face masks, jelly soaps, bath bombs, shampoos) for about 3 years. Not only are most of the workers friendly, but the product quality is amazing. Lush products use vegan ingredients, which is not only helpful to the environment but also appeals to a larger group of people. The only criticism I would have is that some of the plants in the products can stop bath drains and cause issues. My mother isn't fond of Lush because I used a bath bomb, named Tisty Tosty, that contained small rose petals, and they became stuck in the drain. Nevertheless, Lush bath bombs are very colorful and fun to use. The Intergalactic bath bomb, my favorite, fizzes rich navy, pink and light green colors when used. After it is done fizzing, the whole bathwater remains a dark blue with sparkles. It looks like you're sitting in a starry sky. The bath bombs may be a little pricy compared to bath bombs sold online on websites like Amazon or eBay, but the colors in Lush bath bombs remain more vibrant when used. There are a variety of aromas in bath bombs sold by Lush, which gives buyers a variety of choices. Lush cosmetics are also handmade, not created in a sweatshop in China. Lush is very globally aware of issues. They sell Charity Pots, which can help expose animal cruelty and come to terms with issues in third world countries. Along with charity pots, they also sell face masks, body butters and moisturizers. The only issue with these are that since they are made with fresh ingredients, they expire quickly. It is often hard for people to use up such a big pot of a face mask in only six months, which I have found to be true myself. However, if one stores their face mask in the fridge, it will last longer than the expiration date. read more

This store is the meaning of life. The employees are always cheerful and nice, and always willing to help out. The atmosphere is awesome- it always smells so good! Their products are the best. My favorites are the ultrabland face cleanser, lip scrub, and of course the big blue bath bomb. They can get pricey though, as bath/beauty products always can, so it can be easy for a quick stop for one specific product to turn into a haul. It's hard to resist, though. That's how good their products are. What makes this store unique for me, however, is that they are huge advocates for the fight against animal cruelty. I try to buy products that are cruelty-free, but it's so hard to do, since so few companies do not harm animals via testing or other ways. This store is strictly and completely cruelty-free, and all natural, which is the icing on the cake for me. I have purchased from this location a few years ago and was back in town so I decided to stop by in hopes of purchasing some of the products I loved before. My friend and I tried to walk in the store, but a human wall of employees was standing at the front ready to swarm in on us. I prefer to browse a little and don't like to be bothered when shopping. They immediately asked us what we were there for and we stated just browsing. Every single time we went to touch a product, smell it, or even glance at something, we were swarmed by sales associates trying to get us to sample things. I warned them of my sensitive skin and one associate put a product on my hands that instantly caused hives. I was annoyed, and told her we just want to look. We had 5 sales associates try to offer us demos, samples, and smell this and smell that. NO THANK YOU! It came to the point where I literally had one employee breathing down my neck. We were so turned off by this and the increased prices we left. So dissapointing. read more

I visit the store at least every two weeks so you could say I'm a loyal customer. I went in yesterday to purchase some of my favorite FRESH face masks since I just recently ran out (They usually have a shelf life of 2-3 weeks), they were unfortunately sold out of all of them except one, the Ayesha mask. I was surrounded by two associates as soon as I walked in, one was new because the other associate was telling her what to "help" me with. I told both of them I was only interested in 2 of the fresh face masks since my other cleansers and Lush products didn't need replenishing yet, both completely ignored what I communicated to them. The new associate was trying to sell me the Ayesha mask which is for wrinkles and a temporary fix for saggy skin, I have neither of the two issues since I am only 25 and have been taking good care of my skin. She was trying to sell it to me by telling me it's actually a great mask for trouble skin. Really? Why don't you advertise it as great for acne prone skin? My only issue is acne(hormonal). The senior associate rushed to ask me "What's going on with your face?" when she noticed I was telling the newer associated that I don't need anything else and I will be back in Thursday for the fresh face masks. What gave her the right to ask me that? How is that ok? Did I ask for advice? No! Yes, I have some acne scars but nothing scary, you can't control hormonal acne, it just happens! How could I not find that insulting? Then they tried to sell me the color supplement (their foundation) saying it would help me cover any scars until they fade away, raving about it being natural and doesn't clog pores; they forgot to mention their cosmetics contain PARABENS! I am extremely mad and dissapointed, total disregard for my needs as a customer, they were just trying to make sale at any cost! Management really needs to properly train the associates, you can't go insulting customers left and right. I don't even have a lot of trouble spots, that was rude and totally uncalled for. I will not visit this location again and I just might stop using their products after this last experience. read more
