As I scoured through lists of businesses and called each one, I soon began to think that I would not be able to rent a tux in time, as no store was willing to tailor and place a rental order for a suit in such short notice. Ed Solomon, the owner, is the best in the biz. I had a major tuxedo emergency - I was the best man in my best friend's wedding over the summer (2021) and my custom tuxedo from a different company was delayed by UPS and wouldn't arrive in time (I was fitted and ordered a couple months in advance so this was out of my control at this point). I called Ed out of the blue and he said "come on in, my job will be to stress for you, your job is to get your best friend down the aisle." I came in and we traded a couple stories and we figured out the tux that looked most similar to what I had ordered. He sized me up and then called the warehouse in front of me on speaker to provide transparency and so I could feel good about his ability to rush the tux overnight for me (day of the wedding). Not only did he get the tux in for me in less than 18 hours, but he also has looooong standing relationships with the UPS central distribution hub and all the delivery drivers in Georgetown and literally called them in the AM, met the driver and hand-picked up the tux for me early rather than waiting for the UPS route and saved the day! Also, the price for the rental and rush job was cheaper than most other places' rentals AND he got me a better quality rental. Forever grateful to you, Ed! 10/10 would HIGHLY recommend. Filled with joy and excitement I walked into Anthony's Tuxedo per my brother's request and get ready for a night to remember. I walked into Anthonys Tuxedo with my tail between my legs not knowing what to expect. Seriously, I'm nervous. It's my big brothers wedding. I was greeted my Mr. Ed Solomon. May I say he is a gentleman. The entire process was easy. He walked me through my sizes and what I should look forward to with comfort to a great celebration. Ed, aka Anthony, is the kind, witty gentleman who owns this tiny tuxedo shop. He has quite the selection of tuxes, dresses, catalogs, and evening wear accessories. I'd already researched the items that I'd needed to order before I walked in the shop, so I can't comment on the actual experience of shopping around. I decided to work with Ed after comparing prices of certain dresses in other boutiques and department stores. He carried the line of clothing that I wanted, and promised to get me what I needed faster than any of his competitors. Nothing nice ever comes that easy, so it shouldn't have surprised me that either poor communication between us or a typo caused a mishap with my very important order. Nonetheless, Ed tried his best to ameliorate the situation, and I was very appreciative of his customer service. Another unrelated snafu occurred on my watch, when a dress that I had shipped got lost in the mail. I was able to run into Anthony's and purchase a sample dress (at a very reasonable price) that was even better than the original purchase. With this establishment, if you work with Ed - he'll work with you. Good business ethic, a bright smile, and expertise will go a long way. No, Ed will not kowtow or follow you around the shop while you browse, but he will assist in any way possible. You will not get the high-end boutique or department store sales clerk type of service; but, you will get what you want, and for some that's all that matters in the end. Every time I read a negative bridal review I think that the writer is an entitled, control-freak, bridezilla. With that said, "My name is Carly and I am a total control freak" but this store is the worst place ever. I came in here with one of my bridesmaids to look at a specific Alfred Sung dress. We made an appointment. I didn't expect this to be like Say Yes to the Dress, or some bridal tv show where they're all over you, but I did expect some semblance of an organized store and a little bit of help finding the dress we were looking for (spoiler alert: nope and nope). So let's hit the basics of why this was a nightmare: * This store is tiny. Like the size of a living room in a one bedroom apartment. If you're even vaguely claustrophobic steer clear of this place. There just wasn't enough room for the groups of people in the store, who were all scheduled at the same time in the same tiny space. * It's so disorganized. Dresses are just thrown on random racks and it's impossible to find anything. * There was one person working and he was like my grandpa's age. He spent the whole time we were there checking his AOL email (You've Got Mail. You've Got Mail. You've Got Mail). I ended up disliking the dress we came to see because I didn't like the stitching on the waist - but I couldn't figure out if it was poor stitching on the over-worn sample or if that's how the dress was made, because the store grandpa was busy not caring. No one was there to suggest alternate dresses. It was just a huge waste of time. We looked around a little bit but I ended up both overwhelmed and underwhelmed by this place. Even if we had found a dress, I wouldn't have wanted to give this store any of my money. read more

Don't come here if you are hoping to get an idea of bridesmaid dress sizing. The dresses are not organized and the sizes have all been cut out of the dresses so even if you try one on you won't know what you are wearing. Ed is the man. No really, I mean he's the owner of the "Anthony's Tuxedo's" but I'm embarrassed to admit I used to call him "Tony". Anyways, my testimonial is that my wedding had come around. After my brother-in-law had used Anthony's tuxedo's for his wedding. Ed and I both had previously acquainted. He was professional. Well established, and quite familiar with the catalogue of inventory. He tries to best cater to your preferences with the appropriate expectations. I had 6 Groomsmen in all and he ordered rental tuxedos for each one. He was able to accurately take measurements for all 6 guys. He also kindly checked to ensure quality and fit for each one as my wedding approached. Now, the unusual occasionally happens, and I found myself at the odd end of that occurrence. It had been about a week out from my wedding and the jacket for my tuxedo had been delayed in delivery. There were no other vendors carrying similar looks with the time left. Ed did find a good compromise and worked to find a comparable alternative. In the end, I had to purchase the tuxedo but overall my experience with Ed was friendly and I do feel that Ed is one of the better 'Original' tuxedo renters around. But no, the older grandpa that works there did not offer any helpful tips, was unfriendly, rude, and talked on the phone the entire time. Ed, the owner of the store, is wonderful! I called him in a panic about a bridesmaid dress. I had tried to order a dress online through a random website and was scammed (be careful of ordering your dresses online... I am definitely not the only one who was scammed off of one of these websites). Fortunately, I called Ed and explained to him my situation. He was very patient as he got my information. He made some calls to the office of the dress designer and was able to sort things out within an hour! The best part is my dress showed up in less than TWO weeks (as you know, these dresses usually take around two months to ship)! Point is - he was very friendly, efficient, and HELPFUL! When I showed up to get my dress, the store was very clean and I was able to get my dress right away. While there are sometimes cheaper options for bridesmaid dresses available online, I would definitely recommend buying from a store, where the employees have long relationships with many of the popular designers to ensure things are more or less hassle free. read more

I just spent two hours here yesterday, and it was the best two hours I've spent in months of bridesmaids-dress shopping! My sister happened upon this place and couldn't say better things about Ed, the owner. When I met him, I couldn't have agreed more. Ed was very knowledgeable and laid-back. He did not hound us at all while we looked at the very comprehensive dress selection, but made certain to help us when we needed him. And all the while he was able to juggle multiple customers coming in and out of the store. I'm not surprised his store was getting so much business. On top of this, his prices are unbeatable! I looked at the same exact dress line (Alfred Sung) at Macy's bridal boutique in Tysons and was shocked to learn about their shipping (they wanted to charge me $40 rush shipping and they couldn't even give me shipping dates!), and Macy's quoted me prices significantly higher than Ed charged at Anthony's Tuxedos. I could have easily paid at least $100 more at Macy's for the EXACT SAME DRESS and a lot more fees and hassle. AND Ed's great deal was even available for two of our bridesmaids that live in another city! Yes, the store is small and there is only one fitting room, but it's a quaint little boutique in Georgetown. Yes, the racks are full, but that means you have a lot of choices! There are some pretty bad reviews on here, and I can't imagine why. Regardless, you should check Anthony's Tuxedos out for yourself! This place is horrible! I was supposed to be a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding. She gave me the color, fabric, length, and designer of dress she wanted...all I had to do was choose the style. I walked in with a list of about 5 dresses I wanted to try on. Should be easy, right? Nope The man working (Anothony maybe? not sure) literally pointed me to a rack of dresses and told me to look through to find the ones I wanted. He then sat at his desk checking his email while I struggled through a crowded rack of dresses to find the style numbers for the ones I wanted. After about 20 minutes of this he finally asked if I needed help. He seemed annoyed/surprised that i didn't know where everything was located in HIS store. He then "helped" by saying things like "oh, I think that one is over there," or "I think we have that one in brown. " After trying a few on, he informed me that they did have the other two, but he didn't know where they were, so I couldn't try them on. He was absolutely no help at all...I have had better service in department stores. Oh, did i mention i was the only person in the store? If I weren't on such a tight timeline I would have walked out. Then, the next day, I find out my friend's wedding is cancelled. I call to see if I can cancel the dress or at least get it in a different color so I would wear it again. He was very symapthetic and said he would do his best. and get back to me right away. Then never called back. That was a month ago. The prices are decent but don't go here!!! read more

I wish I had read the reviews for this place before going and saved myself some trouble. Here's the deal: days before I am to leave on an international trip, the MOH in the wedding I am in emails with the dress the bride has picked and a panicked plea that we need to get our orders in IMMEDIATELY OMG THE SKY IS FALLING. This was one of two places in DC to carry said dress (I'll refrain from posting my review of the dress itself). I call this place up, schedule an appointment for when I get back from my trip, two weeks later, with the exactly color, sizes, and dress ID that I need. Lo and behold, I come in for my appointment and am told nope, they didn't actually order a sample for me to try on. What. The. Hell. I gave them plenty of time to get the exact dress I wanted. Instead, I am sent to try on a variety of other dresses with slightly similar features and styles. At the end of the session, something made me hesitate in handing over my $250 to this guy. I said I would call him later and went home. Good thing I did, because I found the same dress online for $100 less. I like supporting local businesses but not for $100 more and disorganized service. I still have no idea what this dress will look like on me, but at least I saved $100 I can use on alterations if it sucks (and perhaps a bottle of booze to numb the pain of this entire experience). read more

He told us that the brides maides dresses usually run larger than regular ones, so we should get couple sizes larger. And of course, when we got the dress, it is too large. Then he sent me to the tailor across the street, Express Alterations. The woman there was forcing my hand trying to get the dress tailored, literally taking the dress off of my hands. I do not appreciate these scams. Now I have a dress that I cannot wear, and a wedding only 3 weeks away. And by the way, these dresses were ordered 5 months in advance and was 2 months delayed. Ed the owner of Wedding creations was so helpful to me when I needed bridesmaid dresses that needed to be rushed because another bridal shop lost the order. He made me feel everything was well taken care of, and assured me that the dresses would come in time. Not only did the bridesmaid dresses come on time, but all the alterations needed we done immediately. I was the happy bride with happy bridesmaids. The shop is small but "very Georgetown" quaint on a cobble stone street, the service is unreal in this world. You are dealing with an owner who cares! Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. This place is dingy, cramped, and haphazard. Customer service is non-existent. This was the first shop I tried in my search for a bridesmaid dress and I am so glad that I have time for other options. I was referred to them from the Dessy website and had good hopes as this store was the first to respond to my inquiry on a particular style of dress. However, when I visited the store I don't think the man at the desk made any eye contact during my entire time there. When I arrived, he was on his computer and then promptly answered the phone and held a lengthy conversation while I waited. When he hung up he went back to his computer and asked if he could help me (no eye contact). I said I'd inquired about specific dresses and had called to confirm an appointment. He pointed me to a rack and said, "The Dessy dresses are there. Check the tags." So, I rummaged through the dresses to find my two styles, then managed to find the dressing room on my own (still no eye contact), tried the dresses on my own (well, that's to be expected I guess!). and then finished on my own. I'd already made up my mind that I wouldn't be buying from there by the time I walked out of the dressing room, and don't know that anything would have changed it, but the fact that as I was putting the dresses back he said, "Any questions?" Still on the computer, still no eye contact. I do have one question: how does this place stay in business in the heart of Georgetown? I am baffled. read more

Terrible terrible service. First I called and checked that the two bridesmaid dresses my friend wanted to see on me were in stock and to see if I needed an appointment. The gentlemen said I didn't need an appointment and that I could certainly come in the following afternoon. I went during their opening hours and he had left with a sign on the door saying when he'd be back - two and a half hours later. I came back two and a half hours later and went into an incredibly messy little room with dresses and tuxes all over. He pointed me in the direction of the dresses, all smooshed together on a rack too high for me to comfortably reach and told me I was welcome to find my dresses, I could only find one and after a long while he started helping me look and when he couldn't find the dress I needed he started trying to talk me into other dresses. The changing room was very uncomfortable and small, the service was terrible, he spent most of the time I was there at a computer desk while I struggled with dresses and rummaged through the racks. I will NOT order my dress from this shop and I will never be back. Better to drive to the 'burbs than deal with that. read more
